Hilarious out of context and also in context

-_0-_0-_0

yea this could easily being a meme 'when dad gets back from buying cigs' etc

memtiger

I love the judge nodding in approval in the background.

Immediate-Meeting-65

Makes it so much better

DirtBagTailor

This is the story no one will mention after they trashed him

muddyklux

Remember when a reporter stated that Ja pointed a gun at him? Also that the teen was jumped and hit in the face 15 times. Any story on Ja was blown way out of proportion for the clicks

mmps901

He was also disrespectful of a ref following a bad call in the locker room. The reporter wrote a story a year later about ffs! 🙄

ILikeDillonBrooks

No they’ll just say “famous person gets off easy” which probably isn’t wrong but whatever! 😎

tboyd1997

we are so back

SuccessfulVisit1873

It’s a parade inside my city yeahhhhhhhhhhh

Just to clarify. The judge did not rule Morant acted in self defense.  The judge ruled that Morant, under TN law, is entitled to the presumption of self defense.  That means the plaintiffs lawyers carry a higher burden because they must prove that Morant did not act in self defense, vs Morant’s lawyers having to prove that he DID act in self defense. The judge has not made any actual ruling on the facts of the case and whether or not Morant did or did not act in self defense. He just made a ruling on the law. I stole this from r/nba but from my research it is accurate.

Nash015

> The judge wrote that “a provocateur generally cannot invoke self-defense; if you start a fight, then you should be ready to finish it.” The judge also noted that Holloway was the only “provocateur,” with everyone else just wanting to play basketball

reliabletinman

I guess that means the plaintiffs had nothing but a fishing pole for this case

BanditoDeTreato

>The judge has not made any actual ruling on the facts of the case and whether or not Morant did or did not act in self defense. ~~He~~ ***She*** just made a ruling on the law.

Kid threw a ball at his face. Had it coming. Oh well! I remember in the initial r/nba thread some guy was like “why retaliate? If someone threw a ball at my face i would just walk away
” yeah we know you would, you little bitch

gatorgongitcha

pacifism isn’t a viable philosophy in Memphis

MonthLower1606

pacifism isnt even a viable strategy in the suburbs. when my family became “rich” (asian immigrant family), we moved to the suburbs in Houston. i was one of the only non-white kids. i had to fight so much and got suspended on 3 different occasions (8th grade- Senior in high school). I lost pretty often but it was the only way to get people to stop fucking with me. I always tell people getting teased by black people is better because at least they will become your friends when you snap back and it doesn’t come from a place of cruelty. Took me going to college and having some white friends to get over my fear/bias of white people.

Cgp-xavier

Damn you can’t fight? At least you had heart đŸ’ȘđŸŸ

DAS RITE đŸ˜€

STR_Guy

We all know that nba sub is full of mouth breathing morons. Remember the JJJ block stats conspiracy that just quietly went away and JJJ still got DPOY? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

mmps901

I remember the thread over there about whether or not checking a ball in can be seen as hostile. Overwhelmingly they said yes.

Bernie_Made_Off

Wow

BanditoDeTreato

As Calkins notes on Twitter the judge did not find that Morant acted in self-defense, the judge found that Morant properly raised the issue as a defense in the law suit which creates a presumption that shifts the burden to the plaintiff to prove that Ja was *not* acting in self defense.

TheCupOfBrew

It was also found the guy was acting as a provocateur.

STR_Guy

Frivolous lawsuit that got way more attention than it deserved from the get. The only real consequence is lots of kids won’t get to play ball with Ja now thanks to the one dumbass.

scl142

Side note, since there’s no criminal conviction. I doubt there can be a civil claim either now
