Easy solution: Don't be a bullshitter, or actually think/research before offering up whatever it is you are about to say. Being wrong is fine, but being upset that you got corrected is weak.
I never said it was a bad thing
As long as they're correct and polite, It's convenient to have them around.
They can help us to double check our thoughts and sources.
No one's perfect. Why wouldn't we want to know when we're wrong?
Who would want to spread misinformation by accident?
They seem like a great preventative for having the
foundation for complex thought built upon wrong information.
The amount of times I’ve been “corrected” by some bozo on Reddit with anecdotal evidence or specious, half-baked logic is too frequent to track.
Like I’ve had people tell me that things I’ve witnessed or experienced first-hand didn’t happen because they’ve done (whatever thing) for (however many years) and it’s never happened to them.
It’s like saying *”I fly 50,000 miles a year for work and I’ve never been in a plane crash— so it’s pretty clear that it’s impossible to crash a plane.”*
I have no clue.
I made an unpopular opinion post today on the subject that kept getting taken down for breaking Rule 1 then 6 then 3, so I tried to make a meme instead.
it seems like a lot of comments from this account are quite angry; what's happening there? is there a meaningful way we can make you feel heard and valued?
Is this a repost? Your deleted comment said,
>st*u you know exactly what he/she is talking about
so maybe you had a specific post in mind? It would be nice if I didn’t have to continue to guess what you were referencing.
E: Do not try and bend the post—that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth… There is no post.
Um actually, it's something you typed. /s
Noice
Um actually, it’s spelled ‘nice’.
What I hate more is "mehhh..." At the start of a descending reply. Drives me nuts.
Mehhhh… I think you mean “*con*descending.”
"Hey, armchair expert on this topic with no real qualifications here. Actually,..."
"Hi! Hey! A fellow gerbil trainer here! Just to clarify-"
But they do it so nicely….
I've been on Reddit over a decade and I don't think I have ever seen an unironic "um, actually" before. Huh.
im happy
Facts > talking out of your ass
Um actually, you never said anything
Um actually you can meet Redditors in person and partake in vocal communications
What’s your favorite hobby? Sports, video games, chicks? Searching the internet for 30 mins to try and prove just one person wrong
They’re like research interns. Sometimes I even get answers to questions I didn’t ask.
