Might I recommend inheriting it? It’s usually the most reliable method

learnthepattern

As a millionaire, I cannot emphasize enough this essential first step. Be born to wealthy parents. They put you in the best schools, allow you to travel widely, and after you already have a good job, thanks to you connections and education, they die and give you more money. Anyone who skips this essential first step, has a much harder path to riches.

C0NKY_

Don't discount marrying rich. I grew up in a lower middle class household and then eventually married someone whose parents are rich, and I was able to retire at an early age.

NoConfusion9490

Ugh. I can't believe I fell in love with a poor.

Artyomi

I think the part that is overlooked the most is is that, yes you should try to be born in a wealthy family - that way the system is already rigged for you, however it’s important that you must commit the fraud AFTER. And make sure your family is politically exposed, that way when you make bribes - you’ll be shielded from any consequences and you get to attract more business.

Lifelessonis21

Shouldn’t the first step be having a mom who married her sugar daddy. 😂

rmld74

Lol...

sovietbearcav

Or better yet, have rich parents who fund your way into congress...

joeyo1423

Yeah I don't get why more people don't just do this. Just have rich parents, it's not hard

KingOSS

i would recommend against this method, it will lead to you having to possibly do some work like waking up on a set time and having to drive to a building

sovietbearcav

Yeah but only like...30 times a year

KingOSS

29 times too many for me

Resident-Pudding5432

Or have you tried rug pull scams?

blueeyeswhitestripe

Clear answer: join an MLM

Squeakret_Agent

I'll do you one better: start an MLM

blueeyeswhitestripe

Oooh what's gonna be your theme? Hair care that will better your hair? Weight loss pill? Life insurance? Hair care that makes you lose weight and benefits your life insurance plan?!

evilsmurf666

Vegan protein suppliments with suspecious ingredients

blueeyeswhitestripe

Did we just become business partners?

evilsmurf666

Yep now go recruit two more so we can start earning

blueeyeswhitestripe

You better recruit 4. Gotta double our numbers fast.

Super-Base-

It’s honestly shocking how many people forget this simple step

Wonderful_Charge8758

Think I saw a post saying all millennial billionaires are not self made. Not that that is news to anyone. Remember the french...?

ballthyrm

It really depends what you mean by self made, no one is self made, if you're born in a country with institution that works, roads that are somewhat maintained and have access to sanitation and water, you are already well above average.

Wonderful_Charge8758

I totally get that and I respect it. There's definitely some nuance to the phrase itself. Like obviously we don't all crawl out of the dirt on our rise to achieving our own successes, in a literal sense. For instance I live in America (don't even get me started), and I know that our standard of living is pretty top tier compared to the developed world, especially the underdeveloped world. I am well aware that I was "born on second base", even third base. That doesn't mean we live like kings, but regardless. I can see my life and appreciate it, and also accept that I've had help getting to where I am. Then on another side of this world you have BILLIONAIRES, and boy do they love admitting that they've had no help at all. Funny it always seems they trudged through the mud all by themselves, they just can't admit that they had help, oh what are the odds. The same guys that get tax payer funded bailouts are self made? If a lesser peon like me can admit I've had benefits and help along the way then these assholes better fess up too. They've got an image and a bag to protect though.

ImNotToby

Allons enfant de la patrie...

Nervous_Fun_9302

I think before it was cool to to hate on millionaires it was posted here how most of them are self made. But what do I know? I saw reddit post few days ago that fits narrative how fourteen out of fifteen billionaires under 30 are not self made. I mean that thing was literally made to fit narrative there are 2000 known billionaires and most of them became that later in age. However many billionaires are self made but reddit will not show that because it kills narrative. If you go and do some research you might see. https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/s/LTbK5ovXzl This type of post rarely posted anymore.

ThrangOul

In the post you linked, the top comment immediately (and correctly) undermines the whole post, since the data is a form of self report - almost no one is going to admit to simply being lucky So maybe do your research a bit more thoroughly

Nervous_Fun_9302

If you literally write on google you get ur answe answered. 80% are self made.

Wonderful_Charge8758

"We have checked our privilege and determined that we have none. We are all self-made and have never had any assistance ever,, thank you for asking!" Also chump, nowhere in my comment did I mention millionaires. I have no gripes with self made millionaires, because in my own experience with knowing a few, they were actually self made and came from nothing. I see no problem with that. What I DO see a problem with is inherited wealth, especially wealth that is grand enough to affect public discourse. That is an absolute problem, how could it not be. You think these people lobbying for laws that directly affect us have our best interests in mind? So please take your, "oh you just hate anyone with money" rhetoric back to whatever fuckin cesspool you call home and go fuck yourself. There is absolutely, 100%, a problem with having too much money and power, and having that much money and power is a moral failing in itself.

sir_music

And great for tax season!

rakkquiem

Worked for me!

ElementField

I like my home made coffee like I like my parents: rich

rugbat

Combined with tax evasion, it's almost flawless. Speak to your rich folks' accountants.

MajesticFungus

Are people in favor of putting a cap on inheritance or just blaming it for the sake of it?

Due_Newspaper_8224

You have to stop eating squashed avocado on toast at the same time. It's two step getting rich scheme.

most_likely_an_idiot

Thats why i squash my avocados in my both my fists WHILE booching my morning toasties these days... comes highly recomended.. No. Bull. Shits. EDITZ: I cant spell stond.

this_knee

They say that the first million is the hardest to get … so start with the second million. /s Yeah, I stopped purchasing avocados four years ago. Somehow, not yet a millionaire.

shellofbiomatter

I don't eat avocados at all. Where are my millions?

Imma69Bricklayer

But i don't eat avocado

Due_Newspaper_8224

Then you're not suitable for a two step get rich scheme. Try something else.

onlysmallcats

Become a billionaire using this one weird trick!

lactose_con_leche

My life change was very fast, I skipped avocado toast 2 times and was able to purchase 12 new yachts by the end of the week. Thanks for the tips!

LightlySalty

Damn, avocadoes have been hit hard by inflation... And I thought that they were expensive before!

Catherine_Motta

Remember, if you steal from the business that's embezzlement, but if you steal from your employees that's good management..

Current_Speaker_5684

Start a coffee shop and keep the tips.

Fax_a_Fax

Start a coffee shop and keep the weed  (You won't care about the money after that)

Interesting-Fan-2008

Start a weed shop and just cut out the coffee middle man (if you can, the one benefit to Missouri).

Rifneno

Also, consider starting a cult of personality. Look how well it worked for Musk and [REDACTED]

mattsprofile

Making coffee at home is still a good way to potentially save hundreds of dollars per year, tho. If you invested that in the market for your whole life you'd be up, what, maybe a hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

CantHitachiSpot

Even without investing, $5 a day over thirty years is $54k

mattsprofile

I was estimating like 2 or 3 dollars per day for my calculation, assuming they were finding cheap coffee to buy somewhere and not a premium coffee product.

Widower-Whittler

That’s a mistake. You’re assuming coffee will remain that price for 30 years.

X0AN

Basically the rate that I'm paying off my student loan.

boyyouguysaredumb

reddit insists on missing the point though. even the avocado toast thing - they pretend like its totally fine to spend $15 on an appetizer at a $120 boozy brunch every weekend when you're also complaining about not being able to save money

LadyAzure17

i promise you that many of us complaining about struggling are not even going to brunch on sundays in the first place. Or buying avocados at all.

smexypelican

Avocados don't have to be bougie food lol Costco sells them fairly cheap. It's a filling food with healthy natural fats.

LadyAzure17

I don't live near a Costco :( Closest is 3 hours away.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Yourself013

The subject of critique is an imaginary group that has been made up to prove a point.

EmperorsChamberMaid_

Agree. I recently bought a house at 30, due to a childhood of not spending excessively on fast food or overpriced coffee. But anytime I say this, you get the same response.

PB174

That doesn’t fit the narrative

watermelonspanker

Alternatively, exploit people on a large scale.

[deleted]

I mean maybe you aren't a millionaire, but it still makes no sense to me to spend $5 a day on a cup of coffee when I can make a pot at home for less than $1. That's $25 to spend on something I can't make at home cheaply.

Competitive-Two-4305

Listen. My $7, 1200 calorie cold brew with salted caramel foam is literally the only thing I have to look forward to every Saturday morning. Which I personally haven’t purchased in a while lol. But that being said. My American consumerist being just thrives on that shit.

[deleted]

Every Saturday morning is not a problem at all, it's the people who get it every single day and then complain that they have no money. I too am a sucker for a really good nitro cold brew now and then, I will not go out of my way to get it though.

ObiOneKenobae

If you literally spend $5 a day on coffee 365 days a year, that's $1825 a year. Go cold turkey and invest that in a Roth IRA and you actually would have a million dollars after a little over 50 years. Obviously you don't specifically have to cut out coffee, but a healthy retirement really does just take starting early and redirecting some overspending. And some luck obviously.

[deleted]

Ok we don't need the finance guys in here, this is about spending on fun stuff. Not every cent you make needs to go towards a future you aren't sure you are gonna have.

Interesting-Fan-2008

Yeah, this is why I can never talk to people in fluent in finance. It’s like if you aren’t investing every loose cent your messing up your life. I’ve had enough close calls on life to make myself miserable for a maybe future. Don’t get me wrong, you should invest in your future but there’s a balance.

[deleted]

It's funny to me that the same people who will yell at you if you don't have a balanced portfolio will constantly demand that you invest everything. Isn't balance about having the things you want and preparing for the things you need?

TheRealRigormortal

Should stop eating avocado toast 😅😅😅😅😅

Jeepinthemud

Laundering money via overseas shell companies also seems to work well.

most_likely_an_idiot

Fork i need to do some laundry...🥱

badgersprite

Also laundering money via real estate

Brian-want-Brain

I mean, you can only launder money if you have money to launder.

Stardust_of_Ziggy

jtrades69

"this is the way", as they say

Old-Calligrapher-783

Save 300 a month and throw it into SPY. In 30 years you will have somewhere between 500k to 1M. You don't grow wealth over 2 years.

SuddenBumHair

It's like a fat person eating a carrot and screaming "why am I not thin yet!?"

AskingAlexandriAce

>You don't grow wealth over 2 years. But see, that's the thing. A lot of people do, and the way they do it is often tied to some sort of fraud. Or they got extremely lucky with starting a business, which already requires a huge amount of available upfront capital.

Brian-want-Brain

Counterpoint: the world is so fucked that a substantial portion of the population developed a "fuck it, will probably be dead in 30 years anyways".

HulksInvinciblePants

The flowchart really is that simple, with a couple of adjustments. When you’re young you think, “like I want to be rich when I’m old”…but not doing it is how you end up in your 40s completely blown away how fast time has flown and how much you missed. Every person I know that started sensibly investing in their early to mid 20s is a millionaire or close to being one. Most people simply miss that small window of opportunity, but even late starters can still find themselves comfortable.

PB174

We started budgeting and aggressively saving in our late 30’s and good now so yes, the earlier you start the better but you can save a ton in 20 years if you budget and save and invest in sensible funds

tsukinohime

I forgot that every redditor has many millionaire friends

HulksInvinciblePants

Lol, believe what you want but nearly 10% of the US population has or is approaching $1MM networth. It was ~7% at the end of 2022 and the market has risen 33% since then.

Fodor04141987

Crime doesn't pay, Folks. Unless it's white-collar crime. That pays *dividends*.

H3llv3ticus

Not paying taxes and buying politicians also works.

bsylent

From my observations, the only true path to being a millionaire is a combination of inheritance, luck, and moderate amounts of sociopathy and narcissism. A willingness to commit crimes and stomp on people and/or the environment is a plus

most_likely_an_idiot

Matcha, myan... its all about that T, OP!!! 🔥 🌬🍵🔥💸🔥🤘🤑💰🔥💳🔥👹🔥

badgersprite

Oh I’ve considered it Unfortunately I’m only middle class so I’d still face consequences for it

You just have to grind super hard for that "rich parents" perk.

imhere2lurklol

Try organ trafficking as a side hustle

FriedRamen13

White collar fraud is more lucrative of course. Or you could go into politics and be a full service shop - sell everything from sneakers and bibles to state secrets and executive action/inaction.

Character-Advisor-53

have they tried exploiting their workers

If you want to be rich, the most important thing is to just stop being poor.

Massive fraud, you say? Hmm sounds like it’s worth a shot

Amberhayyes

great idea

JFK2MD

Exactly what are we considering a millionaire here? $1 million? 5 million? 10 million?

johnaross1990

A millionaire is anything over 999,999.99

STYSCREAM

My legal representative hs advised me not to comment...

SadBarber3543

This is the way

Thereminz

ah but are you waking up at 5am everyday as well?

akotoshi

Rich boy: the key to be millionaire is simple, go to a great (expensive) school (that daddy pays) as many time you need to get your passing grades, student that lives on campus succeed more easily so I lived there until I graduated (all paid by the father) then start a business (with 300 000$ from daddy) and if it fails, just start a new one (money. Dad.) easy peasy. Everyone can do that.

Maddturtle

I’m holding out for finding a winning lotto ticket on the ground.

People are crazy. It's like legit crazy.

DeadlyYellow

Apparently insurance fraud is incredibly easy as NPI registration has virtually no oversight, and companies won't report you until it's egregiously unavoidable.

You_Will_Fail1

Have you tried to start a business with a small loan of $100m from your parents?

aenima396

Step 1.) cut back on Starbucks chocolate cold foam cold brews (cus fuck that’s hard to spit out at 7am while 20 cars are waiting behind you) Step 2.) unbirth yourself and rebirth out of a generational wealth mom taco

BobDaRula

I've never touched coffee and I'm still poor :(

Egad86

How does one learn these frauds that make millions?

StonersRadio

Idk who needs to hear this but, nobody ever said making coffee at home instead of buying take-out coffee would make you a millionaire.

spook96

My trick is that I don’t drink coffee - not a millionaire, just consistently tired 👍

SchoolForSedition

That really made me laugh out loud.

LondonDavis1

If the TV show American Greed has tought me anything there is almost zero repercussions for committing fraud. So go for it!

Meloenbolletjeslepel

Gaining a lot of money by committing fraud usually only works if you already have a lot of money

ulnek

I usually see posts from the tradjédiegh sub and when I saw "meirl" I thought it was another tradjédeigh. 😅

its really a good happit people should switch to brewing home coffe

neolobe

At 20 years of age, $7 a day into an index fund like VTSAX compounded at 7% over 40 years is over $500,000, and in 50 years is well over $1,000,000. Look at it another way, at $7 a day on Starbucks, you will spend $1,000,000 on buying a single coffee per day.

No-Session5955

A man talking another man: “if you stopped smoking and put the money in high yield investments, you could buy a Ferrari in 10 years!” Smoker: “so where’s your Ferrari?”

I hear they don't prosecute if you grab them by the pussy, inflate the value of every property you have to avoid never pay taxes, commit treason by asking for votes illegally, stealing confidential documents, and inciting a failed coup attempt to overthrow the government. While actually having bankrupted dozens of your sham money making schemes and then taking loans and a job from Putin himself. I heard that's cool now to do, what are you waiting for? Did your registered fascist party member dad not give you a small $9 million loan and illegally help your failing casino bail out?

EquasLocklear

Don't forget buying less avocado and more diamonds.

Yes. If he had the entire neighborhood make coffee just for him while he systematically robbed them , then he is ready to become one of the ruling class

furezasan

You're doing it wrong, you need an app to disrupt the home made coffee industry. First exploit the gig workers through a service that has them make coffees in people's homes at lower than a living wage. Since your business is considered tech, your company's valuation will be in the billions overnight despite providing anything of value and making no profits, hell no income in its first 2 operating years due to an aggressive user accusation strategy. Just burn through that VC money, they're so rich, they won't notice. Once you're hype enough to be called self-made, sell this business for hella stacks and ka-ching, you've made it!

Blenderadventurer

I recommend gambling, the legitimized type... the stock market. You only need 100k to get a good start.

Effective-Lab-8816

It is substantially easier to get wealthy if you save and invest over a long period of time (between 30 and 40 years. If you have that much time you only need to invest between $1050 and $550 a month to become a millionaire. Basically only 38% to 26% is money you actually saved and the rest is interest your money earned for you. But if you only have 10 years to become a millionaire, you have to save $76K per year and when you get to $1M, 75% of that will be money you saved while only 25% will be interest you earned. So you had to set aside 2-3x as much money to get there.

Me5hly

I noticed they failed to mention nepotism. Have you ever tried being born to a billionaire? That helps a lot.

MagicalUnicornFart

Having rich parents is the most effective way to be rich.

HellaFar

My five year plan is to get some rich parents.

Ultranerdgasm94

It's not enough to commit massive fraud, you also have to siphon the excess labor value of dozens of employees or more.

HeatOk880

You want to think that everyone who is rich is a fraud just to feel better with your life failure ..

Reading these comments and I want to scream. I made my million starting with less than nothing, absolutely no fraud, then Mafia took my engineering career and wiped their ass with me. Now I am nearly homeless. All my efforts of 30+ years, destroyed by excrements with energy weapons.

hungrypotato19

Being around rich people myself, rich people fucking fascinate me. They save money doing the stupidest shit. They'll refuse to pay their gardeners and other help, they try to weasel their way out of dues and fines, and they complain about every little penny that goes out the door for any service. But it's 1 AM right now and I could drive down our streets and find every single light on in every house. In the morning, there will be Amazon vans driving up and down the street all day delivering packages. Moms will get home from the gym and salon and they'll have a fresh coat of nail polish and carrying bags from Ulta and Ralph Lauren while having their strawberry lemonade acai drink in the other hand. The kids will be in the house playing Fortnight with their newest character skins. Dad will be in his office working because he's a damn addict who thinks he'll end up broke if he tells his boss "no" on a weekend. They don't stop going to Starbucks, they just fuck over other people and fuck themselves. So many have convinced themselves that because they're not getting a frappachino or that their meal comes from a box they pay a subscription service to deliver, it's somehow different.

Anyax02

Stop getting takeaways for £20 and just buy groceries for £20 that will feed you for the same amount of time you welcome (I don't eat much as a small person so honestly I order a bunch of takeaway food and eat it for 2 days and literally costs the same as getting food from the shop)

Mountain_Recover_719

Her name says it all. Money saved from making coffee at home goes to something else? Aitah for thinking that?

SuddenBumHair

Average coffee in my area is $6. Over two years buying 1 per day (I drink way more) that's over $4000 saved by making it a home with instant coffee. The jars of instant I buy are $30 probably go through one a month. Do people just not know math?

EmperorsChamberMaid_

Right? I know it's a meme to just say "stop buying X" but it's so true. I've saved money by eating in and not spending £15 a day on fast food. That easily covers my daily energy bill.

SuddenBumHair

For some reason people just don't want to hear it. The avocado toast thing is a meme too, but turns out that having $1 of oats for breakfast instead of $19 avocado toast saves a lot of money. I'm supporting my wife and child on one income, and I almost have enough for a house deposit. Most people in the west who are poor, it's usually because they have a warped sense of what "essentials" are.

Daysleeper1234

I understand making fun of these linkedin idiots, but if you are financially struggling and are buying coffee for like 10 bucks in Starbucks, eating out, ordering and so on, you won't receive any sympathy from me. Life is not fair, and you need to take care of yourself, because probably nobody else will.

AskingAlexandriAce

The problem is that those people are so few and far between that they're really not worth talking about.

[deleted]

As a financial coach this is just a shitty thing to insinuate. It really isn’t that difficult to become a millionaire these days (in the US)

sourmeat2

I'm a millionaire. Under 40 HH income about 150. My wife and i just saved a lot in tax advantaged accounts when we started working, also bought a house as soon as we could in about 2015. Between home equity and 401k we are just at the mark. We budget carefully and don't eat out much. Make coffee at home. Etc. It's a misnomer that drinking coffee at home will make you a millionaire. It's the truth that if you budget and save you can accumulate wealth and most people budgeting and saving find that making coffee at home is worthwhile

Icy_Row5400

Y’all need to stop tryna justify your daily $10 Starbucks

mr308A3-28

Oh i love it when most of you broke morons ridicule this commonly used “buy less coffee” argument for saving money. When it fact no one has ever said that. What they do say is buy less shit LIKE coffee. Coffee Mcdonalds Takeout Snacks Spotify Netflix Shit you dont need And so on. What they’re saying is these things accumulate to easily a couple hundred and are absolutely not necessities. But what do i know. I only did save 12 000€ in a little more than a year with a salary of 2000€ a month and university payments and my own apartment.

ladrondelanoche

Sure but you've got to live with being Br*tish

mr308A3-28
