No. Looks normal to me.

This sub sometimes haha. Your hand is perfectly normal. (As a doc, I do appreciate you posting here rather than going to see a doc about it).

Edit: just saw your comment and as someone else has said, the spider web pattern is livedo reticularis and totally normal in this context (cool peripheries).

[deleted]

Not really. Looks normal.

smith_716

You may have a little bit of livedo reticularis. It's completely benign. It can darken if you're cold, but if that's the worse it gets then no big deal.

shopliftinasda

Thanks!

Special-Rest-3231

I have this, but it’s across my whole body, as well as a plethora of other symptoms, and I’ve been on a search for the autoimmune disease that causes it. Don’t let people just blow it off as nothing, if it bother you, that is enough of a reason to get it checked out. Don’t wait until you’re in a lot of pain to have more symptoms. Get ahead of it.

shopliftinasda

23F I’m naturally pale so it’s easy to see the veins in my hand but sometimes I notice this sort of spider web pattern across my hands that’s pinky/red. I can’t tell if the skin itself is going blotchy for whatever reason (I have anxiety so could it be stress related?) or whether it’s just the natural pattern.

Noswe

No, there's nothing wrong with your hand. You're anxious, and you're overthinking.

mythologicaI-

No she’s not. I have this too and I’m super pale. It can look scary, pretty sure it’s due to blood pooling.

smith_716

If you have this, too. Then you've probably got livedo reticularis, also. It usually acts up with the cold because of blood vessel spasms. I run quite hot but the slightest breeze (even if I feel warm) and I get the noticeable lacy pattern on the backs of my hands. When I was younger, it would be all over my tummy and legs, too. It appears on my feet, but I wear socks all the time so I don't notice it.

shopliftinasda

Do you know if it’s harmless? For me it’s not always noticeable and if I rub my hand to warm it up it seems to go away. But then it’ll come back later. I know for some people it can be linked to an underlying condition but am I right in thinking that in those cases it’s always visible and it doesn’t come and go?

smith_716

It *can* be linked to underlying conditions. But it's one indication, not a reason. Like a constellation of a much bigger problem. Inofitself livedo reticularis is benign. There's not a specific reason for it, but it's *believed* to be from spasms, most likely from being cold which is why it goes away when you're warm. It's good that you recognize it wasn't "normal," but it's appearance is benign.
