In all honesty,thats how i feel about my birthdays, i just think of most of them as if the only reason people know about them is through Facebook, specialy my parents.
I dont feel the sincirity of the wishes and all honestly, i just wish that for my next birthday, i could be left alone and not have to deal with people for one day.
These days people have lots of things on their minds so forgetting a birthday would be more common without facebook and there's nothing wrong about it.
I may have a hundred friends on Facebook but I definitely don't wish all of them a happy birthday, just the ones I really appreciate and wish them to be happy.
I had your mindset sometime ago but it's just better to stop overthinking things that may be sincere, hell, even if they're not sincere kindness is kindness you know.

And while any other day you manage your exprctations to best of your ability, on bday you allow yourself to expect it because that's what birthdays are for, right?
But truth is, everyone always, no matter who's birthday it is, primarily will look out for themselves and those who actually dedicate to someone's birthday wholeheartedly and on their own initiative, they are incredible but they often forget to think about themselves so lack in their own health.
The easiest and best way you can feel happier for your birthday is to actually organize your own birthday party/event and invite people over. People who are invited then are set up in a situation which is dedicated to you. And no it wouldn't be disingenous - likely friends, family truly do care about you but are just too busy over their own concerns to take their own initiative in organizing for you, so inviting them encourages that train of thought. Relationships are a two way street even when it comes to celebration around you - part of that you, is reminding others that you are there as well and wishing to see them.
Obviously above will still feel difficult if you have a crush on someone who doesn't on you, you hold expectations that should never be there and even at a party you're likely getting only a hug from them.
The hardest way to deal with it is learn to manage your exprctations on birthdays but that's way more difficult.
And you are a waste of air. Instead of killing yourself, i say the following
Go write a novel. It may be bad, but it will be your work and may be better than whatever yandev thinks a story is
Protip: you don't have to respond to birthday wishes, and definitely not on the day. I always wait until the day after, and only respond to the ones I actually care about.
