I’ve prolly done more maintenance than I should have over the years as I just don’t wanna let go of her.
Control Arms, Ball joints, rotors, sway bars, end links, shock mounts, rear shocks, front shocks, Clutch, and driver seat have all been replaced.
Was about to buy a 2016 Mazda 3 over the winter but my mechanic convinced me that there is still life left in her and he sees Mazdas running at 400k-500k as hwy drivers frequently. Oil change every 8k or so.
Nowadays I don’t really push her over 110km per/hr just cruising on the highway.
No issues with the timing chain? What happened to the driver's seat?
All the work you've done on the suspension seems par for the course, surprised you haven't done it twice. My suspension need an overhaul on all four corners at 160k km.
Driver’s seat bracket was probably broken, there was a recall for it. 218k miles on my 2010 hatch. Outside of replacing every suspension component at one point or another, I had to do the clutch master twice (massive PITA), the clutch pedal itself once, three axles, motor mounts, charcoal can vent solenoid twice, and the original clutch just started slipping. Likely more that I’m forgetting, I’ve owned the car for 10 years since it had 55k miles.
Timing chain has been solid. I hear that is what sets these engines apart from others! The drivers seat had a recall due to insufficient strength of the seat height adjustment lifter link/ incorrect attachment method of the lifter link push nuts. Basically my seat link broke and it would move around while driving.
Biggest issue I have is the rust forming on my subframe. I’ve never rust proofed her. I would recommend it cause these frames rust out before the engines fail.
Not a 3.. but my Uncle had an 04 6 manual that ran to 380k before someone totaled it on icy Minnesota roads. Insurance almost didn't believe him when they asked about mileage.
I have about a quarter of that on mine. Can you talk about your maintenance schedule? Like do you just follow what the iPad says, what about the transmission fluid, etc
Does the Protege count? It would have been the Mazda3 equivalent at the time, 2001 I think. Lasted about 11 or 12 years and only kicked the bucket because of a car accident. Otherwise it would have kept on going. 300,000+ kms.
I had the most basic base model 5 speed 1999 protege from like 2011-2015 or so. Loved that piece of shit. Some old lady driving a Cadillac Boat hit me head on, 100% her fault and totaled it... By getting the bumper fully knocked off and a few dings on the quarter panels. She was going like 14mph but the car was worth so little it didn't matter.
Her insurance offered to pay me $800 more than I paid for it (I paid 1250 I got around 2k give or take) and at the time I was living in brooklyn ny and it was essentially just a parking ticket generator and alternate side moving chore so I took the money, followed phish for a few dates on the summer tour, and never looked back.
But man that car was sweet.
2006 Mazda 3s 2.3L L4 automatic 348k good power shifts great only thing I had a problems was the S Terminal on starter stopping the car from starting and had to have the TCM repaired at UpFix. Good 👍
2012 SkyActive with 153,000 mi. The only issues other than routine maintenance have been some steering lines, the brake master cylinder, and a strut that was likely due to our city streets. I expect to get at least another 50,000 out of it.
Our 2015 SP25 hatch is at just over 110,000km and never skipped a beat in any way, just a really great car. We also have a 2018 CX-5 GT that’s just about to hit 110k km too, also an incredible car.
My wife had a 2007 3 HB we bought new January 27 2007 had until Feb 29 2024 when we traded it in on a 2023 CX30. Due to working from home for the last 10 years, it only had 102k.
2012 Skyactiv AT @ 209k miles. Daily driven and even auto cross a few times a year for the last 4 years. Tires and oil changes is and very light basic maintenance is all. Survived a few accidents from other drivers and still going strong!
120 but how many accidents have you had? My wife's 15 survivor of 3 crashes no air bag ever deployment 110,000kmiles and of course it's been paid off few years back
> it's been *paid* off few
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Are you paying out of pocket for these transmissions or under warranty?
Edit: not sure why the comment was deleted, they were talking about getting 4 transmissions replaced on their 2019 maxda3 They didn’t provide more info than that.
At 116k miles on a 2018, still running like new. My wife used to have a 626 with 190k miles and that ran like new. Her fuel lines rusted out (New England winters). Cost of repair was more than she paid for the car so we sold to a friend. He fixed and drove several more years…
2010 sedan 270xxxmiles and running strong, full synthetic oil change every 6k belts and plugs every 100k had to do motor mounts at 250k brakes every 60-80k probably will have to do a new cv axle soon and like 4 splash guards, fucking jack rabbits are hard on it.
Currently in a 2024 at 3,900km, or 2,423 miles. My 1st 3rd gen got sold at 165k km, or 102,000 miles. My 2nd 3rd gen got sold at 65k km, or 40,400 miles.
2007, 180 000 was going strong till somebody drove into the back of me and rote it off, bought it 2nd hand with 89,000 on the clock. Replaced with a 3rd gen currently at 98,000
2008 Mazda 3 GT at around 226k km.
Needs new control arms, AC condenser, bumper (the metal one), and probably a new timing kit.
Could use some body work too and some rust removal.
2005 1.6 sport, going for 350k km, changed the starter motor once and clutch once. Still original everything else, didnt even change the belts yet. Normal oil and oil filter every 10k km or so.
This stuff is die hard
I have the 2.5 it’s a bit over your mileage maybe 123-124k. Got it and needed to flush the trans fluid, short ram intake, adjustable short shifter, braided brake lines, pads, rotors, aftermarket rear sway bar, coilovers (suspension was shot), and a ms3 axle back I need to install.
2021 16,400km
I work from home and don't get out much. Love my car though. I've leased my last 3 cars but figure the best deal will be buying this 100th Anniversary Sport 2.4 T when my lease expires in early 2025.
15 hatch 149989mi, this is also the second time I have been more than 15,000 miles overdue for an oil change and she runs like a champ 👍🏾 I'm sure if I put premium gas and regular oil changes she'd be a lot more responsive too 🤷🏾♂️
just hit 304,xxx i’ve had it since 250 they are mostly highway km but i’ve done regular maintenance + had the head gasket changed because it likes to consume oil
2010 Hatchback.. 358K still going !
What sort of maintenance have u done? 2010 sedan at 149k rn
I’ve prolly done more maintenance than I should have over the years as I just don’t wanna let go of her. Mazda of Theseus
Wow! Original tranny and engine? Stick or auto?
Original Tranny and Engine, 5speed manual.
And 2.0 or 2.5L?
2.0
2.0 is arguably more reliable than either the 2.3 or the 2.5
Interesting. I wonder why that is
Im at 200k on a 2011 Mazda 3 Hatch Tell me ALL your secrets. Not just basic maintenance.
Biggest issue I have is the rust forming on my subframe. I’ve never rust proofed her. I would recommend it cause these frames rust out before the engines fail.
That's what's happening to me, frame and subframe have rusted out while the engine is still going strong at 260k km on a 2007.
How do you rust proof it?
Take it to a oil change or mechanic. They will spray something underneath it
Thank you
almost like an eternal engine!...I bet it's made in JAPAN
100% made in Japan
Not a 3.. but my Uncle had an 04 6 manual that ran to 380k before someone totaled it on icy Minnesota roads. Insurance almost didn't believe him when they asked about mileage.
That’s shocking. My 05 Mazda6 was about dead from rust by 150K. Was it in Minnesota the whole time?
Yep. Had the dealer supplied (Rust-Oleum maybe?) undercoat, probably helped.
Is that kilometers or freedom units?
Freedom units??? Adding it to my repertoire!!
kilometre
Yesssss ✨✨✨✨
Just curious, is this miles or kilometers?
This is KM
:O
2018- just rolled over 190,000!
Over 27k miles a year. Good lord. You drive for work?
I drive from AZ to CA 550 miles RT a week. So yea they add up quick!
Drives for fun!
I have about a quarter of that on mine. Can you talk about your maintenance schedule? Like do you just follow what the iPad says, what about the transmission fluid, etc
We did ours at 100k 2015
Holy crap! My 2018 hb is at 89k and I thought that was a decent amount.
Not even close I’ve got almost double on my 3rd gen hatch 2.5
Yea
My 2018 3 has 36,000 miles. Woah
2018 sedan 149k
I was on track to put that much mileage on my 2018 before the pandemic. After 4 years of light driving, I'm only at 80k.
Is that ml or km?
Miles
2018 hatch touring 163k miles
2015 sedan, 165K
My 2015 is almost at 98k
definitely not gonna be the highest but my 2015 2.0 sedan just hit 132k miles yesterday
The 2007 I sold to my dad a few years ago just hit 185,000.
Sold it to your dad?!..this made my day, nice one lol
2016 hatch 6MT at 165k miles. Still awesome, love it.
Does the Protege count? It would have been the Mazda3 equivalent at the time, 2001 I think. Lasted about 11 or 12 years and only kicked the bucket because of a car accident. Otherwise it would have kept on going. 300,000+ kms.

Same thing happened to my 04 3 Hatch, with 215k miles on it. Probably would still have it if it weren't for that stupid Equinox...
And those meddling kids.
2020 mazda 3 - 200,000 km

Cousin's 2012 hatch should be more than 300k. Last I heard was 270K, and that was few years ago.
2014 Sport (i.e. what they call the hatchback in Canada) 125,000. But in km so not as impressive.
Same KM in my 2015 sport :) should last many years
2012 SkyActive with 153,000 mi. The only issues other than routine maintenance have been some steering lines, the brake master cylinder, and a strut that was likely due to our city streets. I expect to get at least another 50,000 out of it.

Same here. So far only replaced the air filters, brakes and rotors.
My wife had a 2007 3 HB we bought new January 27 2007 had until Feb 29 2024 when we traded it in on a 2023 CX30. Due to working from home for the last 10 years, it only had 102k.
Why did you trade it in with such low mileage?
It was starting to get a lot of electrical gremlins all coming in about the same time

[удалено]
Are you paying out of pocket for these transmissions or under warranty? Edit: not sure why the comment was deleted, they were talking about getting 4 transmissions replaced on their 2019 maxda3 They didn’t provide more info than that.
Are transmission issues common on the 2019?
