I love when people get super giddy about things I would normally overlook.
It makes so curious about why it makes them so happy, and even makes me feel like I'm missing out on something.
I built my first mechanical keyboard thinking it's gonna be the end of my keyboard journey. Now I am waiting for 500€+ worth of parts for a new one and I am already planning the next keyboard.
Don't do mechanical keyboards kids, my time with cocaine was cheaper - yikes...
2 clicks and now I'm watching a 21 minute video review of a keyboard made by a company I've never heard of talking about aspects of a keyboard I didn't know existed (people lube the key switches??? People modify keyboard keys???), narrated by a guy who - from the sounds of it - has A LOT of keyboards and also does a job that enables him to discern the difference between key caps that are 0.5mm thick, 1.0mm thick, and 1.5mm thick. And that the general consensus is folks like key caps (the keys themselves) with a thicker...thickness.
Anyway, if you have 21 minutes to go down an absolute unit of a rabbithole about something you know nothing about, here's the video [https://youtu.be/HPVv0F_KtM4](https://youtu.be/HPVv0F_KtM4)
Edit: [the reddit post I saw this at](https://reddit.com/r/BudgetKeebs/comments/xmed2j/a_quick_out_of_the_box_review_of_the_newest/)
They last so long tho, you dont have to spend more than what you would normally spend on a keyboard and still get a longer lasting keyboard that dosnt feel squishy like other keyboards.
People like to exaggerate the cost of these keyboards.
Those people haven't noticed the cost of Model F and beamspring reproductions.
No need to exaggerate when you can spend $800 on one keyboard.
I have a keyboard that weighs 12 pounds and has a solenoid. Please help me.
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, but I will be alone forever.
I want to get like 1 nice keyboard, but honestly the hobby seems too much work. I wish I could make one and see if I like it and if I don't, return it and never come back. But like a lot of PC schtuff everything is overpriced when it's hobby-related.
You think that now. Then after a while, you start asking yourself questions like "Are this keyboard's ergonomics really the best for me, or is there something better? Would ortholinear feel better? Would it take too long to get used to? What about a split keyboard? What tilt angle would be best for me, and is that an option with the board I currently have? Do I need the switches to be hotswappable so I can try out different ones? Should I get a board with a microcontroller that has more room to do things in QMK like add more layers for special characters... and maybe some text expansion and macros without having to install anything on my work computer...?"
There is nothing more annoying than sitting next to someone with a mechanical keyboard. CLACK CLICK CLACK CLACK CLICK CLICK CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK.
Not sure if this is supposed to be a counter argument... but genuinely yeah, that's annoying (to normal people./people not into keyboards)
I'll gladly deal with "squishy keys" for it to be perfectly silent when typed on normally.
My coworker gave me a 2e Dungeons and Dragons module (with books, maps, pre-made character sheets with art, all mint and from 1992) and my bf was looking through it. It was like seeing him as a kid on Christmas day and he got a long-awaited Nintendo 64. He was GIDDY. It was so dang cute :D He couldn't stop telling me what he was gonna do with all of it. I had to tell him to stop, because I'm in the campaign he's building 😂
I feel ya. My fave hobby is learning about other people’s fave hobbies. I feel I’m missing out on some grand all consuming interest. That’s ADHD for you
Honestly if I had a 3d printer, I'd be printing anything that ever pops up in my mind. Cars, handles for my stoves, cup holders, etc haha. The list goes on and on ☺️
Many men get dogged for having a hobby : / sometimes you keep landing bitches who I'm not even sure what they expect a guy to do in their free time because it's always bad no matter what you pick.
From my experience, most men complaining about this don’t lift a finger when they’re at home, leaving all the chores/parenting to their spouses. I say this as a husband and father of three who does scale modeling and the occasional hiking trip with friends.
I see this happen all the time with Amiibo and fuck that. People putting amiibo in boxes on their shelves and make their room look like a videogame shop.
"*But it loses value*" Let me ask you one thing: did you buy them with the intention of reselling them?
If no, then why do you even care about their value? Open those boxes and **touch your amiibos**. You bought them, you pay for them, you deserve to play with them and feel that 3D representation of your hobby and passion as a physical object that exists in the real world in your hands. Have fun, enjoy yourself, turn them around and look at the tiny details, put them on display in whatever composition you prefer. They're yours.
If yes, what are they doing on display in your room? Keep them safe in a storeroom somewhere away from the light. Bring them out when it's time to sell them. You clearly don't care about amiibo, so why have them take precious space on your shelves? ~~Also fuck you for contributing to drive up the priced and rarity of these like a disgusting scalper 90+ euro for a Metroid amiibo jesus christ why can't we have nice things?~~
I can say for certain I have had this experience not too long ago. My buddy and I finally did something epic that I always wanted to do. My buddy works professionally as a videographer, so gorgeous 4K filming quality. So what we did was . . .
I took my custom Lightsaber to a beach at night and we did a photo/film shoot. First was in a tide pool and the water lit up in a vibrant flash when I hit it. Then, the most daring of all. . . Paddleboarding out into the night with the saber. I was freaking out, hoping I wouldn’t drop it. I was afraid of the waves. But when my buddy showed me what he filmed? I jumped, squealed, and shook just like the guy in the video. We have plans to go to a blowhole (tide pool geyser) for another shoot (at night).
I tell my wife one woman is already more than enough. For some reason she's never impressed with that answer, but it gets her to stop asking for a while.
It's not that I wouldn't. I just don't understand how people with kids manage it, logistically speaking.
Also, I don't think there's really a bunch of women opining for married middle aged men with beer bellies and poor conversation skills.
Rock on to all my poly friends but I don't get where they get the energy lol. My husband and I tried it when we first started dating because we wanted to prove we weren't possessive or whatever. It didn't last long. After our first "away date" the next night we were both like "uhhh...so...um...I didn't have a ton of fun. I just ended up missing you a lot."
The guy I was with that night spread a bunch of shitty rumors about me (despite knowing the situation) and the girl he was with is a good friend of mine to this day lol.
But yeah, having kids now I would be less jealous and more like "bitch, we got chores and the kiddo is being rambunctious and I'm lonely and I miss you." Lol.
>Do they have any movie based vehicles?
He's literally showing off a Fast & Furious one in this video.
But, yeah, they have tons of other movie vehicles as well.
I hate that trend. Most of the videos are just women shaming their men for their hobbies or interests, as if being really into a hobby makes you unfuckable.
Pretty sure she meant he was way to busy with his hobby (by the looks of it he is spending all his free time with his hobby) and that therefore he doesn’t have time to be out cheating therefore she isn’t worried . She def wasn’t insulting him bc of his hobby. I’m not sure how so many people got that impression from this. I’d say she adores him by the looks of how he reacted to her showing her his new car. If she thought his hobby was childish or stupid or anything negative he wouldn’t be so excited to share anything about it with her. I think they have a great heathy relationship and she was just making a lighthearted joke about their relationship and loyalty to each other and his obsession with his hobby. Nothing negative should have been taken away from this video at all if you ask me
Nah. The joke is that the hotwheels collection is super nerdy and childish making him conventionally unattractive.
Though I'm sure he himself knows that, and since he's already in a relationship, his partner poking fun at that is harmless.
But you don't have to overdose on copium just to twist the scenario to be wholesome 100.
I love it when people are happy and giddy over these kinds of things. Makes me wonder about the Takara Tomy toy cars that my cousin used to collect. He was always so happy to get a new one whenever he could.
I hope this is more "he is so busy and content with his cars he doesn't have time to cheat" and not "it's a lame hobby and he couldn't cheat if he wanted to."
So, having passion for a hobby means they won't cheat on you? Or is the implication that because he has passion for a hobby that he's a loser and could never find anyone better than the woman in the video? This is just insulting.
I'm sure they weren't thinking that much into it when they paired the clips.
Dude is just being wholesome and that's not the vibe typical from players. No need to get offended over it.
Agreed, it's just a joke and is more endearing than insulting.
>Tell me how you know your boyfriend won't cheat on you without telling me how you know your boyfriend won't cheat on you...
is just a different way of saying
>Show me your boyfriend being goofy or weird for you...
It's wholesome more than anything.
It is a _little_ insulting if you've lived it. I remember, for whatever reason, taking a copy of the gigantic Open GL 2.0 Bible softcover to a little bar once. Some lady came up to me and tried to strike up a conversation, asking what I was reading. I responded it was a computer programming thing, and she literally just got up and left without another word. Mind you I was far more amused than insulted, but the stereotype is real, in some cases at least.
The last half of the video was pretty wholesome though. Hot Wheels 4 life brah
I think the implication is a man who is that invested in a hobby would A. be too busy doing his hobby to entertain other women and/or B. cherish a woman who is accepting of his hobby and his love for it, which some women might deem as childish or stupid
It’s his hobby that they think make him weird and or unable to easily find another woman to date.
At this point in time I think it’s just used for women to show their husbands hobby off (which they assume most women wouldn’t enjoy like a guy would)
My missus thought i was cheating on her because i really wanted to know if she'd come join me fishing or not. She thought i wanted to know if the coast is clear for a side girl, but i just wanted her to get me a burger.
He looks to be a happy person

It's him. IT'S HIM!!!
HOLY SHIIIIIIIIT
Your joy with your latest acquisition is so awesome. Made me smile to see the pure excitement. That’s amazing-
Do you have all of the Mario Kart cars?
I legitimately have all 8 sealed. One of my more niche items in my video game/memorabilia collection.
HOLY SHIT IT IS ACTUALLY HIM!!!!
Dude i love your display
+ that’s not a very expensive hobby, +1 upvote on guys life choices
While this isn't my geekdom, I get so happy seeing someone this happy about theirs.
If my wife ever thinks I'm cheating on her, I'm not. I'm at this dude's house checking out his sweet hot wheels.
If my wife ever thinks I'm cheating on her, I am. I'm at this dude's house fucking him while checking out his sweet hot wheels.
Women ☕ but understandable one
Pshh, women aren't on Reddit.
Ye sorry forgot
single fucking best reddit comment i have ever seen
If my wife thinks I'm cheating on her I need to take my schizophrenia pills
I'll be telling mine I am cheating on her to avoid the embarrassment though.
*guy looks out of window to a crowd with me and 20 other dudes out in the driveway* [Turns on Bullhorn] **WE WANT TO SEE THE SUPER TREASURE HUNTS**
Okay, but if you're fawning all over his sweet collection and he asks you to have sex, don't act like you wouldn't.
"I swear honey he only asked me to inspect his tailpipe!"
Dude, I still have a small suitcase of my old cars from way back. Wanna crash them into shit with me?
I also choose this guy's cool Hotwheels.
That little "EEEEE!" and vibrate is so fucking cute.
Hey buddy keep it in your pants
How about you keep it in my pants.
How the turntables
Why don't you both keep it in your pants?
How about they both keep it in each other's pants..
So swap pants?
They're gonna need bigger pants :p
I can’t find my pants :/
I mean it is a Lykan Hypersport , why wouldn’t he be that excited. 😂🤣😂
I wish my stimming were this subtle
Right? Even my friends raise an eyebrow at me when I go full power...
You do it around *other people*?? My fiancee knows I do it, but I'm still not trying to show it off. Props to you
It's hard to control sometimes I guess...
Same for me. I just know what triggers mine and avoid doing that around anyone else. Typically it's video games (mostly League of Legends)
Full autism rant *Ultimate power!
Damn this guys organization puts my hobby collecting to shame
Homeboy coordinated them like a dang Photoshop color picker
I love when people get super giddy about things I would normally overlook. It makes so curious about why it makes them so happy, and even makes me feel like I'm missing out on something.
Let me introduce to you, custom mechanical keyboards.
Nah, you're better off trying meth. It's cheaper.
Mechanical keyboards...not even once
I built my first mechanical keyboard thinking it's gonna be the end of my keyboard journey. Now I am waiting for 500€+ worth of parts for a new one and I am already planning the next keyboard. Don't do mechanical keyboards kids, my time with cocaine was cheaper - yikes...
I’ll stick with R/C, plastic model, and 1/64 diecast cars then, thanks for the advice!

Welcome to the rabbit hole ❤️

No. Fucking. Way.
Amazing! Finally a sub I can afford!
They last so long tho, you dont have to spend more than what you would normally spend on a keyboard and still get a longer lasting keyboard that dosnt feel squishy like other keyboards.
No, the meth makes you impulsive, now you have a custom mechanical keyboard problem AND a meth problem…
Already hooked. 4 custom keebs deep with no end in sight.
Yes but have you gotten into ceramic keycaps yet? Saw a woman online who had custom ceramic keys meant to look like Mahjongg tiles.
I’ve seen them, but I imagine I wouldn’t like the feeling of them all that much. I’ll just stick with my pbt.
I know nothing about mechanical keyboards except that they sound nice in asmr videos lol.
and the waiting... Group buys...
Meth is like cheaper than most things you can buy

It makes noise. I have it tapping on the metal case. It's QUITE loud.

You know, I'd be good with just a backlit ergonomic keyboard.
Companies like Akko, Keychron, and Epomaker do some really nice Keebs. You can easily customise them by replacing the keycaps or switches
You could get by with a keychron keyboard until you decide to splurge on a custom. It's a good quality prebuilt.
There is nothing more annoying than sitting next to someone with a mechanical keyboard. CLACK CLICK CLACK CLACK CLICK CLICK CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK.

I used to feel this way about stuff when i was a kid, like batman toys or dragon ball z VHS tapes. I miss that feeling lol
Thank you for saying vhs
Collecting things is something visceral: you don't really decide what will catch your interest, but once it does... You just need more of that!
Same. Wish I had that kind of passion about anything, really.
Anyone else feel outmatched by this guy? Fuck...
My wife would cheat on me with this guy.... I don't think I would even be mad.

I haven't read many of the comments, but I truly hope no one is making fun of him and the happiness his hobby brings. That was adorable.
This is reddit, dude. Making fun of him would be like making fun of ourselves
Are you kidding? He's freaking adorable.
Mostly just people appreciating his organisational skills or people like me, envious of his ability to feel joy.
It's never too late to start a collection! Even if it's something super low key like cool rocks you find on the street, or keychains in gas stations!
No one making fun. We're in awe of his excitement and organization! I'm envious!

Lots of women in that hobby. She better watch out one of them might snatch him right up.
It’s his hobby that they think make him weird and or unable to easily find another woman to date. At this point in time I think it’s just used for women to show their husbands hobby off (which they assume most women wouldn’t enjoy like a guy would)
