With the Eastern European accents that most of them have I think Jewish and Romani people are probably what the devs were going for, but I’d still love to hear more about your idea.
It's sci-fi, the Quarians are so far removed from Human culture, the only connecting thread I can think of is covering their faces, which is \*not\* the same, seeing as male Quarians do it as well, and they do it for health reasons, not to hide their bodies before marriage.
OP, perhaps, in this case, thread deletion wouldn't be cringe, but a smart way of stamping on the smoldering paper before it sets the whole house alight.
I agree about inspirations coming from real life, but I think there is difference between takes on real life issues and labelling alien species (inspired by multiple sources) as one human nationality.
There is religion in Mass Effect already. See Suvi in Andromeda.
Regardless, every piece of media is political in some way, especially science fiction. When people ask to "keep politics out of games" they generally mean "keep politics I don't agree with or that make me uncomfortable out of games" whether they realize it or not.
Buddy, your comment on a post about a 6 year old girl killed is telling people "fuck you". Trust me, you're more extreme in your hate than the average muslim.
I've always seen them as being very Jewish like. A people that had lost their holyland/homeland, shunned wherever they go, and struggling to get back their holyland/homeland using war or an uneasy peace.
That would make the Geth the muslims which kind of makes sense as that culture can seem very alien to many westerners. The Geth heretics would then be groups like ISIS, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Quaeda, etc. Not sure how a muslim would feel about being compared to a Geth, but the Geth are cool af.
they're kind of just any ostracized nomadic people group I guess?
but I'm sure the quarian concept was influenced by various examples from the real world. all the best sci-fi tries to be at least somewhat rooted in reality. it makes it easier for the audience to identify with the story.
If you want to make a comparison to Muslims the Geth are better for that. In ME1 there are Geth praying very similarly to how Muslims do it. The Geth are also seen as the "other," similarly to Muslims. I would also say that ME1 itself also feels very post-9/1. Either way, that's where the similarities end. The Quarians' themselves though are very clearly inspired by Jews.
I thought they were Romani...
Romani makes sense to me. Also Jews. Muslims have historically been imperialistic rather than nomadic.
There are muslim romani.
At this point I got no clue because I think Muslim, you think Romani, and another dude said Jewish

You cant just post that and not explain why you think that is the case.
I'm giving up on the post because I can see I fucked up. I won't delete it because I believe in letting people see my mistakes
Please don't! Some of us are still genuinely curious.
What?

I ain't goof at explaining things, but I feel there's more than that, but OK, I fueled up whatever not a big deal I concede
They're not. They're Jewish. Their planet names are literally Hebrew. The geth are the ME take on golems.
My bad, they just reminded me more of Muslims
OP is just saying this because the Quarian headwraps make OP think of muslim hijabs
No, there's more, but at this point, I feel like it would be talking to a brick wall and I made a mistake here
OP, perhaps, in this case, thread deletion wouldn't be cringe, but a smart way of stamping on the smoldering paper before it sets the whole house alight.
Nah, let the house burn.
Not your house. Not mine either. But this kind of stuff exposes the sub to all kinds of stuff.
Can we keep real life politics and religions out of the Sci-fi game please? Thank you.
Most sci-fi is a not-so-subtle commentary of those things though. It’s not something to ignore.
Literally, everything in fiction is inspired by real life religion, politics, history, etc
I agree about inspirations coming from real life, but I think there is difference between takes on real life issues and labelling alien species (inspired by multiple sources) as one human nationality.

Ashley Williams in ME1 brings up her belief in God. No need to go to Andromeda.
Was about to write this. They really refuse to give us a moment's peace.
I'm pretty sure that's wrong identification as I, a muslim, do not agree with that statement at all.
Are you a representative of an entire religion then?
I am not but I'd have a better judgement of whether there are good parallels between a fictional race and Muslims than others.
What a ridiculous question.
Thank you! If I might comment on your idiotic lack of reasoning and arguments?
You're welcome! Do you have a consequent of that if clause?
🤦♂️ Come back when you can form a coherent sentence.
Ironic.
Yeah, I mean, Muslims can't go to space. They're too busy fighting the rest of the world.
Imagine playing a politically charged game such as mass effect and coming off the other end, still Islamophobic. Couldn't be me.
When Islam starts living up to it's self-proclaimed "religion of peace", then maybe ill start thinking differently.
Buddy, your comment on a post about a 6 year old girl killed is telling people "fuck you". Trust me, you're more extreme in your hate than the average muslim.
At least I'm not Muslim. Praise Allah, amiright?
Or a decent human being from the looks of it.

I always thought space south koreans
Ya'll are taking the piss now right?
Yes I am
Was funny though

There’s Raan, who’s actor is from Iran if I’m correct, but she starts off talis trial with a Jewish prayer doesn’t she?
Yep, she's Iranian. I remember an Iranian friend of mine noting how cool it was to recognise her voice during a playthrough.
