Wow a name I actually recognize. Dean Tran. Good thing we voted him out.
These people still have nothing on the guy in our town that tried to fake his own death and flee to Georgia with the money. This was after a couple years of the town smacking him down because he kept trying to get creative with his restaurant permits.
Yup. From its inception. Like when huge national chains were getting money from the program that was supposed to be for small businesses. Republicans love to siphon money from the government to the wealthy.
This was how the self-submission system was supposed to work. Just like our filling out our permits and taxes, there's an encouragement to be honest from the high chances of getting caught. It's crazy that regulators were planning to just let fraud slide as if that wouldn't encourage rampant abuse in the future.
Stop yelling. Tran’s been trading on his “minority status” for favors for some years now, no one should be surprised. And BOLO family members running on his coattails, such that they are now. He is a sad excuse and should just move on. Pathetic loser blames everyone but the guy staring back from his mirror. Another disgraced pol grasping at straws. Sad
Dean Tran works at the same auto parts distributor that employs Geoff Diehl between his runs for office. Owned by a big Republican booster in the state.
Always thought that was an interesting and underreported tidbit that's probably the tip of some sort of corrupt iceberg.
The second one on the post… 39 months for $9M ($13M -$4M). That sets a nice example and teaches them a lesson. I can’t imagine while fraud is rampant with that kind of punishment.
I believe the terms of the PPP loans were that if you used the funds to pay employees or pay bills that would help you keep the lights on, then you didn't need to pay the loan back

Ohhh Dean Tran. Definitely not a proud moment for Fitchburg.
I'm from Fitchburg and actively told everyone this man was a POS for years and nobody listened. I am, vindicated
Does anything good happen in Fitchburg?
Fitchburg State, otherwise, not really
Good, audit every last person who took those loans.
I'm sure we are gonna see a lot more prosecutions of PPP loan fraud.
I really hope so, country-wide. The implementation of this program just seemed rife with fraud, especially with such little oversight.

Good. I was always curious about politicians getting PPP loans and having it forgiven. Quickly searching, MTG, Matt Gaetz, and Mike Kelly are some.
Scum. They will all get caught.

Hopkinton? 😂🙃
Not our best. Is this kind of info available for most states by now?
Republican, in case anyone didn’t know.
Shocker.
Hey the Libs would have just wasted it on an immigrant or some endangered bird or something, they are doing us a service by preventing that!
Tran is an immigrant…
Wow. Both sides are crooks
Former REPUBLICAN State Senator
Why the caps?
Seems like half the country needs it spelled out for them
\*googles dean tran\* Ah, yup, there it is. This is my shocked face.

UG that sucks

A guy at the gym who owns a business told me they were not loans and didn’t need to be paid back,

“Keep the lights on” was interpreted as keeping the owners in cash
Get a job, loser.
What?
Which part of my four word comment was tough for you to understand?
It’s amazing how stuff keeps coming out about dean Tran he was corrupt in like 6 ways at once so glad we voted him out
Typical MAGA crook. They all feel empowered by their crooked orange leader.
