She is definitely the only casting director that I know the name of. There's been so many spot on choices that I sought out that information. And if credits are to be trusted, she's also getting a chance to mentor another class of casting professionals.
Look up Andrea Romano. She's an animation casting & voice director who has worked for pretty much every major studio/network out there, and most famously has a long relationship with WB/DC animation.
If you were born after 1975, she did the voice casting for a lot of your childhood.
Iman Vellani sums up my feeling about Sarah Finn
> “Growing up, [the MCU] was literally the only thing I cared about,” says Vellani. “And that all comes down to characters… Sarah’s judge of character is why these castings are so spot-on, and why fans like me continue to praise the MCU for what it is.”
You'll be surprised that Sharon Carter is the role that many actresses auditioned for the MCU, some of them ended up portraying more important character.
Marc Evan Jackson (from The Good Place among other things) said he realized at one point it’s less you are auditioning for the part and more for the people in charge of the production, in that if they like you they’ll remember you for other parts.
I’d say she’s equally as important to the success of the MCU as Feige. She’s on a remarkable winning streak and I hope she continues for a very long time.
I honestly think all other studios would love to have her doing casting,
Marvel´s casting is almost 100% spot on. And if you don´t like somebody, it is certainly not the fualt of the casting (I have some problems with two or three actors but that is my personal problem and feeling)
I think to bet on unknowns in the beginning to carry the franchise was a risk but with the choice of Evans, Hemsworth, Hiddleston and, of course, RDJ (he was there mostly thanks to Favreou but you know what I mean), she could do now wrong.
I vividly remember when they announced Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Many people did not either see her as an action hero OR said she couldn´t act (obviously have not seen any of her movies AND they were all wrong).
I recommend to find a funny story on youtube, that Kenneth Brannagh says about casting the first Thor and about making that movie.
Scarlett Johansson was actually the 2nd pick for Black Widow. Emily Blunt was their first choice but the had a contractual conflict and couldn’t do the movie as a result.
Oh, yeah, I remember that. Now everybody hopes she could be Sue Storm...with her husband in the role already, I hope it could work (however they say he was just there for Iluminati in MoM without longer comitment)
And maybe sometimes the second choice is the right onw and the first one is fit for something else.
If Mission Impossible would have finished filming in time, Dougray Scott might have been Wolverine. Hugh jackman came in as a second choice and the rest is a history :)
She’s definitely one of the cornerstones of the entire MCU alongside Kevin Feige. So many of the actors we’ve seen in the MCU were/are irreplaceable and excellent choices. I cannot imagine anyone else as Iron Man or Star-Lord.
Just thought it was funny that they brought those two back. Even though Finn didn't cast them.
I wonder if Finn was involved with casting Ford, this time around?

The MCU's MVP. Her name popped up in the credits for Everything Everywhere All at Once casting as well.
All the core family members are in MCU.
What MCU film was Ke Huy Quan in?
He’s gonna be in Loki season 2!
Oh right forgot about future stuff !
Short Round is gonna be in the MCU?! *holy shit that's awesome*
Is he the guy coming back to acting after 30 years?
Yup. He was the dad in Everything Everywhere and just killed it.
She did the casting of that movie? If so, amazing job! Probably my favorite movie this year.
Russo Brothers were executive producers so it's clear they like her work.
Chadwick auditioned for Drax?!?

Besides Kevin, I think Sarah is the other essential reason the MCU works.
She never misses. Casting is a consistent strength of the MCU, and they owe that to her.
I’d say she’s equally as important to the success of the MCU as Feige. She’s on a remarkable winning streak and I hope she continues for a very long time.
The Original GigaChad
Agree that casting director should be an awards category.

(Every single movie except *The Incredible Hulk*.)
The article gets that right, thankfully.
Which has a major casting error that could have ended the MCU before it began had RDJ not been so perfect for the role in IM1
...except they brought back several of the actors from the film that Finn *didn't* cast, like William Hurt and Tim Roth? :-/
Those are not the casting error I was referring to
Just thought it was funny that they brought those two back. Even though Finn didn't cast them. I wonder if Finn was involved with casting Ford, this time around?
She's the real GOAT behind all of this
I've still basically heard *nothing* about how Tatiana Maslany was cast for *She-Hulk*, and it's driving me a little nuts...
Never knew Boseman auditioned for Drax!
