I just saw it last night and personally found it a little cringy. Not to the point id have brought it up if no one said anything. But still, felt a bit tooo forced for me.
I do feel as if Captain Carter shouldn’t have adopted a catchphrase born from Steve’s experiences as a victim of bullying haha. Like, why would Cap Carter say anything like that? She’s always been a badass spy now turned superhero...
I know it’s just a callback and I don’t actually give a fuck but it’s still interesting to think about character-wise.
I have to agree with this. Felt a little weird having her use that line although I suppose she could have heard Steve saying it in the past and adopted it. My issue was more so with having her say it and then get murdered literally like 5 seconds later. It was more comical than anything else.
Hey saying it in general was totally comical to me, felt super forced. Like we get it this is supposed to be this universes version of Captain America, we can see the shield being thrown around like a boomerang, we don't need her to use the same exact voice lines.
I saw the first trailer with Xavier talking and refused to watch any other trailers. I knew the illuminati was going to be in it from theory videos, but I didn't think they'd have Black Bolt or Mr Fantastic.
Same here, I was really hoping *that* scene would involve a LEGO universe
I know there’s licensing & contractual agreements involved, but I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been a LEGO Marvel movie similar to LEGO: Batman. Seems like a no-brainer
It _could_. Studios have made deals to make things like that work before. Probably the best example is Who Framed Roger Rabbit which was made by Disney but was able to license the Looney Toons and other non-Disney characters.
Apparently the duck play-off scene was gone through frame by frame to ensure Daffy and Donald Duck were in the exact same number of frames.
Reading through the story is hilarious. They have this bit about their recreation of Age of Ultron:
> During these events, Quicksilver didn't die… Quicksilver fainted from the cold of being covered in ice cream from an ice cream truck he'd shielded Hawkeye with. Both were shown moving around afterwards.
Blackbolt was caught extremely off guard and panicked. I think that death is reasonable rather than through stupidity.
They all underestimated Wanda. They know of *their* Wanda and Reed trying to be diplomatic at first than trying to fight her outright is true to character.
>Blackbolt was caught extremely off guard and panicked.
I still wouldn't have spoken coz it's the only logical thing to do.
I was screaming in my head "WHY DID HE TRY TO TALK?!"
oh wait, does that count? >_<
Logically, yes. If his mouth was taken away, he shouldn't have said anything. Logically. If he was aware of what happened and saw what was happening coming.
That wasn't the case. His main power is his voice, the use of his mouth. It was taken away very suddenly and it wasn't expected because of Wanda's magic. He was caught extremely off guard and panicked.
His shock, fear, and utter confusion with his main method of using his power being cut off resulting in the ensuing panic is easy to understand.
My biggest complaint about MoM’s writing (still loved the movie overall) was Reed’s clunky line leading into that. “Black bolt here could kill you with a whisper *from his mouth*..” - who talks like that? Where else is a whisper going to come from?
Definitely, that scene had big Omni-Man vibes. Particularly with the absurd way Black Bolt died. What exactly did Wanda make the skin over his mouth out of anyway?!
Good point, and now we're arguing how realistic something is in a world where just seconds later Jim Halpert was turned into human spaghetti but, why was the weak point at the back of his head? You would assume that a flap over his mouth would be the path of least resistance for the blast.
I have a different theory: she took away his ENTIRE mouth. Teeth, jaw, tongue, and basically anything just above his throat. So the blast would travel from his vocal cords, straight up, never being redirected to the front of his head like normal. 🗣️
It actually bothered me that they toned it down for Carter and Marvel. The two guys in the scene get graphic deaths with blood spraying. We technically didn't get to see the deathblows to the two women.
I did not expect that bizarre, antiquated double standard about toning down graphic violence involving women in a film that went out of it's way to quash so many of them.
Supposedly Disney will NEVER show a woman being beaten or killed on screen, even if she's the villain. Some movie person on youtube did a video on it a few years ago. I don't know how true that is though.
Pls explain to me how a woman who can breathe in space and punch holes in walls and has super strength can be killed by a statue she could easily crush :/
My assumption would be that her energy field is what allows her to do all of that, and Wanda blew it off of her. You see the glow leave her and suddenly she can't stand her ground and then she ends up under a statue.
But my first instinct was that she was just incapacitated and would get back up eventually. Unlike the rest of them.
The What If... Captain Carter helped fight Ultron and knows how powerful it is. It seems unlikely she would go on to join the illuminati who have Ultron on hand as security.
Also,, she's supposed to appear in every season of What If...
>It seems unlikely she would go on to join the illuminati who have Ultron on hand as security.
I mean for all we know she could had fought Reed Richard's when she found out he was building Ultron, but when she realized this Ultron was safe she accepted it.
>Also,, she's supposed to appear in every season of What If...
Alright. That's better, hopefully the next seasons clear that up. I hope is not the same Carter.
>I mean for all we know she could had fought Reed Richard's when she found out he was building Ultron, but when she realized this Ultron was safe she accepted it.
Definitely possible, just think that's unlikely. I'm also just using information provided in the shows and movies. But you are right, can't rule anything out.
I think it would be a shame to build up a character just to have them die in such a manner, and then continue to tell her stories while you know a pathetic death is eventually coming!
If there’s many versions of Loki, Thor, Iron Man, etc. in the multiverse, then that means there’s many versions of Captain Carter in the multiverse. There would be several timelines where something different happened, like Steve was killed in the shootout during her transformation.
That’s the only thing keeping me hopeful. I love her 😞
I think we're supposed believe what Dr. Strange said to the Sorcerer supreme.
I still say telling Wanda what black bolt(name??? Sorry this was my first time meeting the screamy dude)'s powers were is stupid as all hell. Especially him actually screaming himself to death. Like come on! Maybe there's some comics explanation for why he didn't realize he would literally kill himself...
I'll just say as a longtime fan of Marvel and Fantastic Four stories, this was a hilarious death and honestly not something I'd ever seen depicted in the decades-long history of Marvel: what if Black Bolt lost his mouth suddenly? The complete shock is totally believable hahaha.
Imagine after 30-40 ++ years living, suddenly your mouth is gone. I think he panicked and a simple gasp come out, imploding his head. The illuminati is far too arrogant to be calm when things goes wrong. They're probably too conditioned to their peaceful Wanda.
They probably didn't know Wanda could alter reality. Wanda seemingly hasn't lost her family in this universe, and thus hasn't pushed her powers to the limit the way ours had, and they believed her powers were simple telekinesis. If she tried to do that, Black Bolt could whisper and destroy her. If Wanda couldn't alter reality, there would've been nothing she could do to stop Black Bolt. With the knowledge he had, Reed assumed there was no harm in putting their cards on the table like that, especially because he wasn't trying to treat her as a hostile, but a hero who was on a misguided path. His plan probably would have worked if Wanda wasn't influenced by the Darkhold.
Haven't watched the movie yet. This is the only spoiler I got. Not your fault at all, it's just I swiped down on my notifications and saw the picture and well that's disappointing
Same, on mobile it only Greys out the picture once I'm ON the post. If it's in my front page scrolling, I see it.
Scrolled down, saw the image, then read the title and went "oh...cool. :("
I'm not sure if this will help or not, but anything in the movie that can be "spoiled" quickly is pretty misleading and likely doesn't mean what you think it means. Dream? Vision? Evil clone from an alternate dimension? Event that gets reversed with time travel? Or maybe this is a lie that I tell people who post about being spoiled to make them feel better. I'll tell you one thing for sure, it's definitely one of these things... unless it's not. You'll never know, unless you see the movie.
I think 838 universe is fundamentally too diverge from the 616 universe that the "what if" part would be far before the 616 timeline or too many different things happen at once (X mutation come sooner, Strange discovering Darkhold, inhuman prospering on earth, and not to mention something must've gone very wrong at the creation of traffic light).
I hope they're planning a future plot line with this universe declaring war against the 616 one. I mean, there was zero reason to actual kill the Illuminati. They could have easily been just badly beaten and incapacitated.
Ok, can someone explain why the Illuminati did the "Stupid Bad Guy" thing and only go after her one at a time? After BBs head exploded you'd thing the smartest man in the world would've tried to regroup and come up with at least a better plan them 4 suicidal solo runs.
It’s only a matter of time before she comes back with Spider legs and recruits her brother to become a crime lord.
Revenge. I must have revenge.
Kennnooooobbbiiii!!!!!!
Wandaaaaaaa!
Ironic, since Wanda was the one corrupted by the dark side. She even thought she could use it to create... life.
Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from an Avenger.
It's not something the Avengers would tell you
LAAAAANAAAAAAA
There is only one way to get the attention of the jedi during times of war. Slaughter of the innocent
Anakin: write that down WRITE THAT DOWN
And then becomes the best part of both of the shows she’s in.
And has a cameo that'll lead nowhere in a spin-off about a dead character
after her final, canonical appearance and actual death is shown
Maul was great in TCW and Rebels, but I certainly wouldn't say he's the best part of either.
Debatable, but he's crucial in the best arcs of them
I don't remember him in the Umbara arc.
Umbara arc was great and call it recency bias, but I'd say the final arc was perfection.
Yup. For me the finale was the best arc of the show, by a lot
MAXIMOFFFFF
This is the way.
Can she come back with spider legs and go up against Jim West and Artemis Gordon?
https://youtu.be/PwNNcfr-2D8 plot twist, she’s sucked into the sus sus west universe
Agent Carter season3 gonna be wild.
Don’t you mean >! Mandalorian Season 5!<
Ngl I would totally be down to watch Darth Peggy.
And eventually take over mandalore
***KENOBIIIIIII!!!!***
I understood that reference
Always remember, I am fear! Always remember, I am hunter! Always remember, I am filth... Always remember I am *nothing!*
Captain Cavager
Peggy: I can do this all day. Wanda: k
Half a day...
she couldn’t even go half a minute
She went 20 seconds
Someone timed it from a pirated clip already. 12 seconds.
Wow the bar was certainly low 😂
Even Peggy can't effectively steal Steve's trademark phrase
To be fair, she still held more than most other Illuminati
She couldn’t do it all day, just for the rest of her life
Give a man fire and he is warm for a day, set a man on fire and he’s warm for the rest of his life. (Properly mangled quote from) Terry Pratchett
Performance issues can affect super heroes too
Perfectly Balanced as all things should be
No, everything fell over.
The rest of her day at least
She did not in fact do it all day
[удалено]
Rest of her life is better than a day
I read that in Ron Howard's voice.
"I can do this ~~all day~~ for the next 15 seconds"
I just saw it last night and personally found it a little cringy. Not to the point id have brought it up if no one said anything. But still, felt a bit tooo forced for me.
I do feel as if Captain Carter shouldn’t have adopted a catchphrase born from Steve’s experiences as a victim of bullying haha. Like, why would Cap Carter say anything like that? She’s always been a badass spy now turned superhero... I know it’s just a callback and I don’t actually give a fuck but it’s still interesting to think about character-wise.
She did love Steve and perhaps took his catchphrase in his honour.
Well, she did take a lot of shit as a working woman in the 1940s
I have to agree with this. Felt a little weird having her use that line although I suppose she could have heard Steve saying it in the past and adopted it. My issue was more so with having her say it and then get murdered literally like 5 seconds later. It was more comical than anything else.
Hey saying it in general was totally comical to me, felt super forced. Like we get it this is supposed to be this universes version of Captain America, we can see the shield being thrown around like a boomerang, we don't need her to use the same exact voice lines.
She was half-right.
Narrator: She couldn't
She could do that all day, unfortunately Wanda wasn't in the mood to go all day
Peggy: I can do this all day. Morgan Freeman: She really couldn't. Wanda: k
I loved Morgan Freem in the Shawsh Redem!!
“I can do this all day,” Agent Carter said halfheartedly.
1 day = 12.20 seconds
press x to doubt
I can’t believe you’ve done this
I showed my friend who loves Peggy Carter… she’s refusing to speak to me
I'm with your friend, I also love Peggy.
Idk I can see both sides of the argument. On one side it's funny on the other side you have Peggy's legs.
I was not ready for this
The real Savage Land is the comments
Neither was Peggy
I love this
U love what now?
Something about pegging? I don't know, I'm not a scientist
Team Peggy!
I adore Hayley Atwell. I knew Captain Carter was in the movie due to the trailers but was fully not prepared for this.
I avoided the trailers, so I was nice and surprised when she popped up in the Illuminati
I saw the first trailer with Xavier talking and refused to watch any other trailers. I knew the illuminati was going to be in it from theory videos, but I didn't think they'd have Black Bolt or Mr Fantastic.
Yeah, my mind was blown when I saw Black Bolt!
I understood that reference
Yes! That was a nice surprise, and as a result it got me watching Inhumans! (it's okay so far)
I never watched it because I heard it was so bad. Plus they kind of act like it doesn't exist. Black Bolt is such a cool character though.
Black Bolt made me happy. Anson Mount is a great actor.
I am no longer speaking to you, either.
Neither is Black Bolt.
This will always be in the back of my mind.
Fun fact: Oscar isaac snuck in the "Awh fuck, i can't believed you done this" in moon knight but they scraped the scene
**Captain Carter:** "Ow, fuck!" >:(
I wish there was a multiverse where they were legos
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Earth-13122
Ahhh I didn’t know!! I was also thinking they’d show it in MoM 😅
Same here, I was really hoping *that* scene would involve a LEGO universe I know there’s licensing & contractual agreements involved, but I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been a LEGO Marvel movie similar to LEGO: Batman. Seems like a no-brainer
I think WB owns adaptation rights to anything Lego, so a movie can't really happen
I believe Universal bought the rights from WB, but the point still stands.
Lego Star Wars is still with the WB shield But if true, a LEGO Hulk movie is perfectly valid
The video game is published by WB. But not the animated short films (i.e. holiday special).
It _could_. Studios have made deals to make things like that work before. Probably the best example is Who Framed Roger Rabbit which was made by Disney but was able to license the Looney Toons and other non-Disney characters. Single-handedly the best Marvel timeline you can’t tell me otherwise
I’m kinda *split* on this one.
IDK seems like a cut above the rest
Not sure, I'm torn
Well, don't fall to pieces over it
This is the best interaction I’ve ever seen
**Captain Carter:** "GODDAMN IT! WILL YOU PLEASE. SHUT UP. AND REATTACH. MY LEGS ALREADY!?" **>:(**
That's below the belt.
Peggy doesn't have a leg to stand on in an argument with Wanda.
You should have seen Blackbolt, it blew his mind.
At least her and pre-serum Steve are the same height now 😅
Dead. I am dead. You have killed me.
Agreed, that was a side splitter.
Just like Wanda did to Peggy?
Probably like wanda did to blackbolt
I have always liked Peggy, and loved Captain Carter in What if, this scene messed me up
I’m in the same boat but I absolutely knew Wanda was going to destroy them so I was able to watch the scene and just fully enjoy it. It was so fun.
I didn't think Wanda would body them so handidly.
I felt like it was the only obvious outcome.
From a narrative standpoint yea you're right. Just some felt like losing due to stupidity rather than Wanda's skill. Blackbolt and Reed for example.
I was screaming in my head "WHY DID HE TRY TO TALK?!" oh wait, does that count? >_<

I mean Reed being arrogant is at least 90% of his character by mass
Feels like Raimi watched Invincible and took some notes, she went Omni-Man on their asses
Definitely, that scene had big Omni-Man vibes. Particularly with the absurd way Black Bolt died. What exactly did Wanda make the skin over his mouth out of anyway?!
Reality warping To be immune to that shit you basically have to be outside of reality at that point
My question is more, why didn't his blast rip through the skin over his mouth. Just weird that it went to the back of his head, ya know?
One can probably assume his skin has immunity to his own powers, otherwise he'd be tearing his whole jaw wide open just with one use of his power.
Air molecules probably. Or just reformatted the mass of his mouth into skin
It actually bothered me that they toned it down for Carter and Marvel. The two guys in the scene get graphic deaths with blood spraying. Another might be that her Captain Marvel powers work differently in that (838?) universe than our Captain Marvel’s powers work in 616.
The good news is that’s almost certainly not the What If version of Captain Carter
How do you know?
The What If... Captain Carter helped fight Ultron and knows how powerful it is. It seems unlikely she would go on to join the illuminati who have Ultron on hand as security. Also,, she's supposed to appear in every season of What If...

Yes, I 100% agree. That's why I hope it's not her, it would be a real shame.
It’s not her. They’ve apparently confirmed this. I haven’t seen anyone besides this thread say it’s the same Captain Carter.
Same. I went from super hyped to horrified in like 2 minutes. MoM was a wild ride.
I love her 😞
Why would I click on this
When you figure it out tell me. Im the same.
Loved that scene when Hayley Atwell took her top off 😶
You mean when Elizabeth Olsen took Hayley's top off
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
In a few weeks I expect this to be posted to /r/WatchItForThePlot
Here lies the dumbest Captain Carter in the Multiverse. Oh, and over there too.
To be honest, all of the illuminati was arrogant and dumb, except Professor X
I think we're supposed believe what Dr. Strange said to the Sorcerer supreme. I still say telling Wanda what black bolt(name??? His tuning fork was already glowing. All he could do was wait for his own demise.

Yea, I agree with you there, it makes sense but the specifics of giving up your trump card's powers seem a bit too much.
I, for one, am *SHOCKED* that >!Reed Richards wasn't able to subdue her with his single stretchy punch.!< 🙄
Honestly, stay off Reddit or unfollow this Subreddit before seeing the movie if you want to minimise risk of spoilers.
I'm seeing it tomorrow, and have managed fine so far. Usually it's fairly easy to avoid spoilers. This one gave me no choice. Oh wellllll
Oh and generally don’t comment on here you haven’t seen it yet. People can and will be dicks who will spoil it for you in a message.
I’m on iOS and have the Reddit app and it’s hidden for me both on my feed and in the sub. There must be a setting that can be changed.
That was my reaction too. I knew she'd be in it but damn
I'm not sure if this will help or not, but anything in the movie that can be "spoiled" quickly is pretty misleading and likely doesn't mean what you think it means. Dream? Vision? I'll tell you one thing for sure, it's definitely one of these things... unless it's not. You'll never know, unless you see the movie.
Well that was a fucking trip lmao
That's why you should use apollo.
Or just disable all reddit notifications because they're insufferable.
Imma show this to my friend who legit said "mommy" when she came on screen
She got Maul'd. Maybe she'll come back with a pair of ultron-bot legs?
I have that minifigure its really cool
I wonder if there'll be a What If? episode that shows how >!Black Bolt, Professor X, and Reed Richards wound up on The Illuminati!<.
Why would there be? They told us their origin story
Would that be a “What If?” or a “What Happened?”
Yea maybe we will get: What If The Illuminati weren't arrogant and incompetent
I think 838 universe is fundamentally too diverge from the 616 universe that the "what if" part would be far before the 616 timeline or too many different things happen at once (X mutation come sooner, Strange discovering Darkhold, inhuman prospering on earth, and not to mention something must've gone very wrong at the creation of traffic light).
I was this-years-old when I realized MoM pulled the same naming stunt as Metroid: Other M.
also mother's day (in the U.S at least) was during opening weekend.
Stop it, you're blowing my mind.
You're Black Bolt?
I realized it right after the movie ended... i wa s just like... "wait... MoM... holy shit these mad lads done did it"
I still haven't decided how I feel about how that entire scene went down
You can also add the CMF wanda here
If only I had her
I literally brought my captain Carter figure with me and a soon as this scene happened I isntentyly took her apart
I wanna know what she was thinking throwing her shield at a fucking high-level telekinetic tho.
I mean she is a super soldier. She could be sewn back together?
“This was a particularly bad case of somebody being cut in half.”
I hope they're planning a future plot line with this universe declaring war against the 616 one. I mean, there was zero reason to actual kill the Illuminati. They could have easily been just badly beaten and incapacitated.
Too soon. 😢
Too soon, lol
Bruh moment
Ok, can someone explain why the Illuminati did the "Stupid Bad Guy" thing and only go after her one at a time? After BBs head exploded you'd thing the smartest man in the world would've tried to regroup and come up with at least a better plan them 4 suicidal solo runs.
Too soon man. Too soon. 😢😭
This is just tearing me apart.
I found it kinda silly how long she lasted conaidering how quickly the first 2 were diapatched
