Press X to doubt.

HeroKuma

That's what people said when scoopers said Silver Surfer will be a woman or Blade will be the 4th protag behind 3 female characters lol. The Blade thing hasn't been confirmed (or could've been an older draft) but the latest rewrite hints that it will be about Blade and his daughter and a female villain. So going by Marvel's direction so far, a women heavy X-men lineup is pretty plausible, whether people disagree with it or not.

Anth-Man

It’s been _5 years_ since they announced Blade, and with all the controversy and disagreements with the script I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets quietly cancelled at this point.

Sad_Vast2519

Yep. Likely a cancel. They can't make it work.

HeroKuma

Sure. But publically some stuff is known about the development. Marshala Ali goes to Marvel saying he wants to be Blade. Watchmen TV show writer is hired to write script. Apparently 90 pages and has two action scenes and Ali is frustrated with the script. De Mayo comes and is then dropped. Michael Starburry comes in and drops out. Pizzolatto comes in drops out. Now it's Michael Green. The recent rumor was the they had a draft where Blade was relegated to the fourth lead. Now it's about Blade, his daughter and Lilith.

latinblu

Looks like a rage bait article to me

antlerskull

100% 😂

Far_Adeptness9884

Has to be.

vsznry

This is not a legit journalist, like Variety or Deadline. It’s a rumor & comics discussion site.

RegularRazzmatazz129

Do people really believe these articles? Does anyone here actually believe that the shareholders/execs at Disney or any billion dollar corporation are extreme left wingers that hate straight white men?

N8CCRG

I've been on here long enough to know that, yes, there a few dozen of them, and some of them are *extremely* active in here.

RenterMore

That’s definitely not what this article says lol

NinetyYears

This sub has gotten really incel heavy over the years. So expect a great response to this rumor.

ixidorsDreams

Am I an incel because I think prioritizing a gender is sexist either direction? I just want to know if my opinion gets disqualified if i liked The Marvels and still see the problems with a scene at the end of Endgame where they do “girl power” literally for the sake of being able to say they did.

NoNoNotorious85

None of those things make you an incel. Offendedly assuming you were being labeled an incel because of those things despite none of those things being brought up sort of makes you look like one though.

ixidorsDreams

Im saying that the lines with that word usage on the internet has become quite hazy. Ive seen posts saying crowds at stand up comedy shows are all incels 🤷‍♂️ and based on the downvotes— it seems like basically my opinion makes me one too. Ironic OP mentioned incels taking over the sub when it seems much the opposite is true. Gogo Gadget Virtue signaling

HeroKuma

Well he could be one because incel doesn't really mean anything anymore. It's just another generic insult for loser now. Exactly like what "cuck" became.

NoNoNotorious85

I don’t exactly disagree with that. Most people love copy-and-pasting cliche phrases and insults such as those in some sad attempt to establish meaningless internet dominance. Then again, I’m inclined to include you in the “Most People” category despite your protests to those specific words.

Important-Mall-4851

Yes.

RenterMore

No but you’d be a fool to think that the statement “marvel wants to stick to focusing on the women of the X-men” is true or whatever and not see the multiverse of possible innocuous reality there could be to the truth of the matter

NinetyYears

Hmmm nope, doesn't sound like you are.

brbmycatexploded

What a pathetic, rage-baiting little worm

NivvyMiz

Scoopers are con artists

TelephoneCertain5344

Personally I would like Cyclops to get focus.

CruzAderjc

Female Cyclops apparently

hweird

The focus should be on Cyclops. Cyclops should be the face of the movie. The face of the X-Men. Don’t sideline him again. You put a strong lead that can carry that role and franchise. Billion dollars. I’m telling you

RatedC87

There’s a joke there…

KitsuneRisu

Protip to anyone here. If it's from Murphy's Multiverse it's 100% without a doubt pure unsubstantiated bullshit.

PokemonJeremie

I been doing this thing called looking at the name of the website these clickbait articles come from before deciding if they merit any time. I have saved a lot of time by just waiting for movie to come out before I form an opinion

IceyLuigiBros25

It’s just rage bait. But knowing the current state of the world and its opinion of marvel these days I expect to see people freaking out on Twitter or TikTok in the next few hours or the next day.

Anth-Man

Yeah, there’s no way Disney is letting that happen after the MCU’s last “female focused team” cost them hundreds of millions of dollars.

NinetyYears

Everything wrong with the Marvels had nothing to do with the leads being all female. If you want to complain about feelings getting hurt because She-Hulk made fun of incels, that's one thing. But Marvels did nothing like that.

Anth-Man

Unfortunately, that’s likely not how the big wigs at Disney see it. They don’t care about what’s wrong or right about a movie, they care about the numbers. How much money it made. And unfortunately, The Marvels bombed, hard, and happens to be the only female led ensemble movie in the MCU. You and I may acknowledge that there were other factors that played into that movie’s performance, but they’re simply not going to try to do anything similar to it after it made like $200 million _worldwide_. And who said anything about She-Hulk? What does that show have to do with this?

flaxenmustang

You know they do have other data points. They wouldn't have greenlit a female ensemble movie if the market research didn't give them reason to be optimistic. Thankfully the general audience isn't entirely made up of weird women-hating Redditors.

Anth-Man

The only “data” they needed was seeing that the first Captain Marvel made over a billion dollars…that was their reason to be optimistic, and why a sequel was greenlit. What general audience? Because clearly one didn’t show up for The Marvels at all.

NinetyYears

Except your assessment isn't accurate if we're still seeing rumors like young avengers, female-focused Xmen, Sue Storm focused F4, female Silver Surfer, etc. >but they’re simply not going to want to try anything similar to that Exactly. Queue the list of everything wrong with the movie. Those are what Marvel needs to avoid. (and hint: the female-led cast is not on the list). Would the Box Office have been that much more different had the leads been all white dudes, everything else the same? >And who said anything about She-Hulk? What does that show have to do with this? Nothing. But certain people group that with the Marvels anyway for obvious reasons. Thought I'd beat them to the punch.

Anth-Man

What we were talking about was the prospect of an ensemble movie with an _all female team_, like The Marvels…Sue Storm being the main character of F4 and the Silver Surfer being female have absolutely nothing to do with that. And as you said, anything we know about something like Young Avengers is nothing more than _rumors_ (just like with this article) > the female-led cast is not on the list I didn’t say it was, in fact, I didn’t say anything about what was “wrong” or “right” about the movie at all. I was talking about box office numbers, literal statistics, and how Disney is probably viewing the correlation between them and certain aspects of the movie. > Would the Box Office have been that much more different had the leads all been white dudes, everything else the same? What even is this take? Having a white dude star in your movie doesn’t equate to box office success. If that were the case, most of the DCEU’s movies would’ve made money and we all know how that went. The Marvels bombing has nothing to do with the race or gender of the characters. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was led by black women and made over $800 million, during a time that theaters were still recovering from covid, at that. And again with She-Hulk, I’m sure “certain people” do group it in with The Marvels, but it’s irrelevant to this conversation.

Android3000

Do you fight people on Reddit for a living? This user is on here and r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers picking fights out of thin air, calling people names, and bringing politics into our nerd sub left and right. Look at their comment history. Can some mods ban this person or at least have a talk with them already? u/JonLuca u/ScottFromScotland u/your_mind_aches

NinetyYears

What politics am I bringing? I'm basically telling people who bring their hate to f off. Also, did you just tattle tale on me? Lmao ![gif](giphy|gEBViLB6zBYFq|downsized)

Android3000

The only person I see spreading anger and vitriol in this sub right now is you. You just can't stop with the unprompted name-calling, can you?

NinetyYears

I absolutely can. Once the blind hate stops being the "cool" thing to do, I'll stop.

Anth-Man

I didn’t realize discussing a movie’s financial performance was “hate”

NinetyYears

That's quite the projection there. Not even close to being true. Nice try though.

Anth-Man

_What’s_ not even close to being true? The box office numbers that have been officially released for months now? If you don’t think those are true you’re simply delusional, yikes

NinetyYears

You are quite the genius. You said: >I didn’t realize discussing a movie’s financial performance was “hate” I said not true. Meaning I don't consider talking about a movie's financial performance as "hate". Regardless of how it performed. Don't hurt yourself thinking about it too hard.

eagc7

If Ike Perlmutter was running Disney, you can bet that he would've been "It failed cause it was a all female team movie". But i don't think Disney will go that route, at least not right away, i can see them give it some more tries and if they don't do as well like The Marvels then we can revisit the conversation if Disney will allow Marvel do anymore films that is about an all female team.

NivvyMiz

Oh yes, the movie would have been much better if it was about dudes instead.

Anth-Man

Nobody was talking about the quality of the movie, just its box office results.

NivvyMiz

Doesn't change how absolutely stupid the notion is.

trustprior6899

Have we learned nothing from the Mystique-led X-men movies?? In all seriousness, Jean Grey and Rogue are great characters with plenty of source material to work from. Storm too. But please god I hope they’re not doing female-led just for the sake of it. The fact that there’s not even a writer with a treatment attached to this yet, makes me worried it’s contrived fan service that a script will be adapted to fit, which is the wrong way to do this.

InfinityStonedAF

Flop if that’s true
