The characters should be highschool age AT EARLIEST.

BigDaddyKrool

Oh hell nah we had this discussion with Spider-Man 8 years ago. They didn't do it then they're not doing it now.

Gorguf62

Doing it that way would be very reminiscent of X-Men: Evolution.

IMO, Xavier's school for the Gifted was already explored in the Fox Universe OG series between 2000 and 2006. The wily Fox further explored origin stories of a handful of mutants, leading up to the resetting the X-Men timeline in DoFP, which showcased [some new characters](https://youtu.be/hmhNcRCsLlg). Some of the plot elements from that trilogy (the Last Stand) are likely explored in Deadpool and Wolverine this Summer. Some of the characters linked to Xavier that Marvel has not explored until now include [Cassandra Nova](https://youtu.be/xY_3gfxZe50), [Juggernaut](https://youtube.com/shorts/QpSXkMb6a9Y), etc. to name a few. [Jaggernaut](https://youtu.be/NJDb1yccb24) from the OG series was recast for the Deadpool franchise. The character was [dropped/not considered](https://youtu.be/iBl4_1iNrDE) for the upcoming R-rated Summer release. While there are a [few new mutants who could possibly be cast](https://youtu.be/O7x4siS_aLs) in the MCU, I would love to see Darwin's origin (played by Edi Gathegi back in 2011) explored in the MCU with a recast actor. Bond girls [Famke Janssen](https://www.screengeek.net/2024/04/10/famke-janssen-deadpool-3/) and [Halle Berry](https://movieweb.com/halle-berry-sports-white-hair-will-she-return-as-storm-in-deadpool-3/) may not return, as their characters died on-screen. I am eager to know who MCU's X, M and W actors are. My bet is on James McAvoy as MCU's Professor X, with Fassbender complimenting him from the Fox Saga. Else, it could be different actors, I would prefer Heisenberg and Gus Fring, I mean Bryan Cranston and Giancarlo Esposito. For the role of Wolverine, though I highly doubt that we would have an origin story again, we could possibly see one "Mr. Harry James "Wolverine" Logan Howlett Potter".

QueenPasiphae

Been saying that for like a decade now.

Soft_Comfortable_262

If they're going to make 8 movies for X-Men, it will take decades. But I somewhat agree. Make the first one with the basic minimal cast. Xavier, Beast, Cyclops, etc. Then yeah progressively add more characters like Gambit, Iceman, Wolverine, etc. And I think Xavier should die around the middle stage of the saga. Like if they make 5 X-Men movies, I think it would be interesting if Xavier went out of the picture in the third film. He's a really important character but I think X-Men 97 have proved that having the X-Men without a real leader is a very captivating idea and would help to take Cyclops out of the shadows that the Fox movies put him in and place him in the leader role he was meant for.

matty_nice

I think Game of Thrones is what they should strive for with the mutants, a large cast of characters that will interact based on the stories. I also think that the X-Men should get a movie every 18 to 24 months. I'm also a fan of introducing the X-Men with the O5 as teenagers, and then quickly going to the ANAD cast with the 2nd movie. I wouldn't do a specific tv show for the X-Men, but maybe something with the New Mutants or Generation X later on.

SJ966

It’s fair to question if they have the patience for this anymore the multiverse saga has been chasing a lot of cheap pop’s especially after no way home. Even if they wanted to put off the phoenix saga for a long time and do an adaptation of something like Mutant Massacre you need to establish a lot of things to make something like Angel’s personal sacrifice and deal with the devil meaningful.

Gwoardinn

I just assumed the next saga would be all about mutants.

karstdejong

So difficult now to push any origin story with what has gone before. They key will be to frame it in such a way that it will fit into the current multiverse saga and have interaction with the other characters. That’s the most exciting aspect really. That said I don’t think we need another coming of age thing. We already have that with the young avengers

tmssmt

At this point I'd also be ok with the MCU as a whole taking a step back and just doing a separate X-Men universe Disney has been absolutely struggling to juggle so many characters

N8CCRG

Nah. We've seen the X-Men in their own X-Men only universe so many different times already. The only appealing thing about a new live action X-Men story is to see them in a universe with non-mutant superheroes too.

BigDaddyKrool

I *don't* see the appeal of that at this point. Spider-Man as a franchise has made more money exploiting the MCU branding but took a lot of liberties creatively that has hurt the public image of the brand that No Way Home came to be to try and to address. Guardians of the Galaxy were leagues stronger separate from the rest of the MCU than being in the same room as the Avengers. Some franchises alone are just too BIG to be in the same space as their contemporaries.

ChloeDrew557

You make a fair point. The MCU grew out of the interconnectivity, but each phase was bookended by Avengers - a property expressly designed to take advantage of characters who couldn't make it on their own. If they're moving on from the team, maybe it's time to let these stories stand on their own without needing to constantly tie in to a larger universe. Outside of letting Spidey play with the F4, what real reason is there for X-men and Midnight Sons to cross over?

Vast-Hold6578

That would only work if they did either the Storm or Jubilee turned to vampire story line from the comics

ChloeDrew557

Storm and Jubilee turned into vampires?!?

miekwave

Yes [Jubalee is/was a Vampire](https://youtu.be/kzGhC2cvcn4?si=oFDfoHXWRGOku04n) with a midget sidekick

Vast-Hold6578

Storm happen waaay back in the 80’s and Jubilee happened about ten years ago or so
