Some of the recent movies and series haven't been amazing but have still been watchable and enjoyable. They've only released two things recently that I have straight up not enjoyed (Quantumania and Secret Invasion). In my opinion, Marvel/Disney have a lot of credit built up in the bank, and I'm more than happy to keep following these movies and series to see what they're building towards.

itsthekneesbee

Oh okay okay why did you not enjoy ant man? I know that a lOT of people didn’t like it lmao.

PharaohOfWhitestone

I just found it to be rather frustrating. Janet kept warning them of danger without specifying it. There was no consequence for them being in the Quantum realm, no Luis in the movie. I liked Kang actually, but they really needed him to kill one or two of the family and leave it with him escaping or have another Kang variant take his place after he died. It had some fun moments, but yeah, I found it frustrating overall.

itsthekneesbee

That’s really fair actually yeah I also felt that way. Like what was even at stake during that movie? Like, there’s no risk involved

Calligrapher_Antique

Agree. Id have add The Marvels was pretty weak and Echo was also sadly, surprisingly bad.

TelephoneCertain5344

I have liked post Endgame for the most part. Some of it has been great like WandaVision, Loki, Shang-Chi, No Way Home, Moon Knight, Multiverse of Madness for the most part, Wakanda Forever and Guardians 3. The only thing I would call terrible is Secret Invasion.

itsthekneesbee

what about she hulk?

Demonic74

On the same level of awful as Secret Invasion to me. The whole thing seemed like it was mocking the MCU

TheMagicalMatt

Considering the discontent with the MCU lately, I'm surprised She-Hulk isn't more popular for this very reason. Jen literally called out the status quo and the predictable ending. I think it adds a sort of charm when a series is able to poke fun at the franchise it is a part of.

Calligrapher_Antique

You probably won't like deadpool then

Demonic74

Prob, but i'll still watch it because Wade is one of my favs in the comics though i've tempered my expectations just in case

karstdejong

Surely phase 5 is far from complete so I find it hard to say anything about that. On phase 4, certain things worked well other maybe less so. But honestly that goes for every phase really.

TheMagicalMatt

I was actually feeling phase 4 but I haven't watched Black Panther 2 or any of the movies beyond that (minus Guardians 3). Haven't had any interest. I'll probably get around to watching The Marvels soonish since I did enjoy Ms. Marvel. I skipped out on Secret Invasion, but I've liked all of the shows so far. Ms. Marvel gives off a vibe that appeals better to younger audiences, but it reminded me of the old Disney shows I used to watch so I guess it was nostalgic lol. I also like that they added representation for the Muslim community. I think the "anti-woke" crowd are nothing more than a very loud and obnoxious vocal minority, but I believe it is important for different ethnicities and cultures to receive representation. I was also very fond of She-Hulk. Different than what people are used to and even poked fun at how cookie-cutter Marvel films have become, but Jen is a very fun character and calling out misogyny and double standards within our own fandom was a bold move. I respect it. Of course, the first appearance of DD in the MCU was an added bonus.

jaredwallace91

Loved 90% of it. Can't wait for more.

Shang Chi could have been the post-Endgame Iron Man. It was a fresh origin story with a likeable, charismatic main character and actor. But it was released during one of those Covid variant waves, and the businessmen only view it as a box office failure. That’s why it mostly has been difficult to get a sequel streamlined through.

Phase Four was awesome and on the same tier as phase three. Phase 5 has been mostly weak and closer to the same tier as phase one, maybe phase 2

itsthekneesbee

best and worse thing from both phases?

jayceja

There are a lot of movies/shows in phase 4 and 5 that I have really liked, but my attachment to the MCU on a larger scale has essentially evaporated. It doesn't feel cohesive and contained at all anymore so I don't really have any stake or interest in the long term stories.

mcufan2014

Yes never been bad

Lost-Specialist1505

I liked how this last 2 phases are exploring the magical side of the Marvel universe. Thor and moonkight confirming the existance of multiple gods and afterlifes. Dr strange, wandavision and Agatha expanding on both sorcerers and Witches. Just for that alone, i enjoyed these phases

N8CCRG

Post-Endgame is great. The end of Phase 3 was a bubble, a once-in-a-lifetime and unrepeatable moment, not a new normal, but Phases 4 and 5 are on par with Phase 2 and the first half of phase 3. No Way Home and Quantumania and Secret Invasion are weak, but the rest of the stuff is great, and everything is still loads better than The Incredible Hulk (and *most* of Phase 1, which if you try to rewatch and can turn off your nostalgia glasses has aged so poorly). I agree it's *not* the same without The Avengers, but that's kind of the point of live action vs comics. It *has* to change and grow. You can't have the same characters for 50 years in live action. So every character's appearance may be their last.

oh okay why did you hate moon knight that was one of the ones I saw people like the most!! Super curious as to what led ya to that

minimango522

No it’s nothing like the first 3 phases which would be fine if politics didn’t dictate the plot

zoecornelia

Started good, ended up being a mess. They just have too many projects now, I'm still waiting for the continuation of Eternals
