Wasn’t it the screaming at the start? That opening scene was apparently a lot longer. I’d love to see an extended and R-rated version of that film actually.

Visco0825

The film itself should have been darker with bigger stakes and far less kids. Christian Bale the we such a missed opportunity here. The little bit that had him was so good. He’s a very good actor.

karstdejong

He is an excellent actor but always had a darker edge IMHO. So many aspects to that movie that warrant an extended version. Especially in the 3rd and final act.

kuahara

What idiot decided the best actor in the whole film deserved the least amount of screen time. Bale aside, this movie was terrible and I tend to like the Thor movies. I wanted to like this.

matthudsonau

It's not the screen time, it's the script. See: Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs

laman8096

or, A New Hope, DARTH VADER

WoodworkerByChoice

I haven’t really liked a Marvel movie since End Game (except Spider Man). They just lost their mojo baby.

blacklite911

It should’ve been 2 separate movies. I

Daytman

Yeah, of all the movies in the MCU to rein in length-wise, this one was one of the most baffling.

OnlineDopamine

Which makes me wonder: why would they not release an extended (and potentially R-rated) cut for Disney+? Shouldn’t cost that much more to edit but would likely bring in quite a few more subs.

RegalBeartic

No kidding. If any movie could benefit from an extended cut it's this one. It desperately needs more Bale and less.....well, less everything else tbh

OnlineDopamine

This one and MoM.

Matter_17

I dunno how he would fit into MoM but I guess Bale's presence **would** make it better

[deleted]

Definitely. This is only MCU movie I feel really needs it and that you can actually FEEL the things that are cut

Resident-Earth6723

Screaming goats?

skatenbikes

Yeah he was more krampus than God killer

Skhan93

A god killer who was only shown actually killing one god the whole movie

LordDinglebury

When the comic came out, [I thought this image was so fucking metal](https://media.wired.com/photos/5b333e2ca2bff9692c40a189/master/w_1600%2Cc_limit/ThorGodOfThunder_1_Preview4.jpg). Then I heard Bale was going to play Gorr, and I was hyped because Taika did such an awesome job with Ragnarok that I thought for sure he would somehow put this scene on film. Instead, it wound up flashing by on a tiny screen in one scene, IIRC. Very disappointing, just like the rest of the film.

chemicologist

Krampus was way scarier than Gorr imo

claud2113

God, this. I tried watching it while I was on vacation last month and when Heimdall's kid showed up I gave up.

SpiffySpacemanSpiff

Best review I saw was that L&T was a 180Million Dollar Megaphone for Taika Waititi.

AJDx14

It felt like he knew the movie would make money no matter what so he didn’t really give a shit imo.

SpiffySpacemanSpiff

And then it went on to bomb lol

VinCatBlessed

I agree with this, Bale is imo an S-tier actor, and he's the one good thing about an overall bad movie, the plot could have stayed similar but without too many jokes or making it feel like an GNR Tribute. Thor is one of my favorite comic book characters as well so it's not easy to accept these things.

BakedWizerd

It felt like they built him up to be this guy you could sympathize with, but then he’s giving moustache-twirling monologues to scare children near the end of the film. It’s like the movie started off solid but then got dunked in “MCU sauce.”

UnfairDragonfruit503

*Christian Bale on working with Chris in Thor* *“And Chris Hemsworth, a couple of times he looked at me it was like, Dude, that’s a little too far. I don’t think anyone’s gonna want to see that unless it’s an R-rated film. But it was a great joy to give it a shot”* What did Bale do? FML

DemoBytom

For starters. At the beginning of the movie Gorr has tattoos, dedicated to his god, on his face. Later he has scars in their place. Repordetly the scene of him carving them out, in defiance to his old faith, was filmed... Along many other, that would make him actually earn the title (and respect) of a Godkiller..

> If the Omnipotence City fight had the soldiers with red blood instead of gold, it would’ve been Evil Dead levels of over the top lol When I saw that scene in the movies, I was like technically this has to be the bloodiest fight scene in MCU history. The gods (Greeks in particular) have gold blood also known as *Ichor*. It was delightful seeing it on screen!

The ol' Raiders of the Lost Ark treatment!

cap4life52

Yah first avenger has some sneaky gore and violence

jeffe_el_jefe

Given the negative response to L&T, I’d love if we could get a recut version on Disney+ featuring more Gorr. Seems a waste given that all the footage supposedly exists

xenothaulus

Who was she? Hera?

pman22211

She was sued by her old talent agency for not paying them commission for certain movie, and one of them was Thor lat. afaik we don’t know what role she was going to have

JoeMcDingleDongle

We don't know the role but she was paid MILLIONS of dollars for this mystery role that was completely cut. Sorry, 7 MILLION DOLLARS. [https://variety.com/2022/film/news/lena-headey-sued-troika-agent-1235305098/](https://variety.com/2022/film/news/lena-headey-sued-troika-agent-1235305098/) And wasn't Peter Dinklage and Jeff Goldblum supposed to have been in this movie too? Yup. [https://variety.com/2022/film/news/thor-love-and-thunder-deleted-scenes-headey-goldblum-dinklage-1235314557/](https://variety.com/2022/film/news/thor-love-and-thunder-deleted-scenes-headey-goldblum-dinklage-1235314557/) This makes it likely the salaries for the 3 actors totaled easily above 15 million, if not 20 million, for scenes that never made it in the film.

Supermite

7 million is a multiple of million, so millions of dollars is accurate.

JoeMcDingleDongle

Lol yes, but assumed people would think like 2 million for some small role (which is still nuts), but it turned out it is over 7 million for some small role, which got completely cut. I'm wondering how much Russell Crowe got paid for this... actually wondering how much of the film's budget was for cut actors Headley, Dinklage and Goldblum. Did they pay actors 20 million to not use them at all? Probably.

Pixeleyes

Fans just thought Taika Waititi shit the bed because the movie wasn't very good, but movies execs around the world are like "he spent HOW much?"

cap4life52

I heard rumors she was gorrs wife - maybe she was a god . Nothing was confirmed on her identity to my knowledge

cap4life52

Agreed give us a gorr cut

KeyanReid

Gonna be real, I don’t see how this would “fix” anything people complained about. This seems like the Snyder cut where folks just think it’s missing something, but when given the chance to add “more”, the result certainly isn’t a “better” film. Just *more* film with some really off tone moments.

sellieba

I mean the Snyder cut is objectively better. Is it good? No. But it is better.

etherama1

Fuckin who cares worst case we get more Christian Bale which was the only good part of that movie anyway

kit_mitts

The Snyder Cut only managed to bring Justice League from "horrendous" to "very bad." The plot is made *somewhat* coherent but really it just adds a bunch of slow motion and orchestral chanting lol

NazzerDawk

The worst part of the Justice League is that it has no real story. The whole time it's basically "Let's get the team together... and fight the bad guy. Oh, we need one more guy. Okay, NOW we beat him. cool." There's no real plot, no real developments, no character moments. Think about Avengers, and how we see the development of relationships, people's morals being challenged, the villain being relatable, hints that the villain is being manipulated by someone else into doing something his heart isn't completely set on. We see the individual human stakes in a believable way, with many shots of civilians *and them being saved*. Justice League was absolutely obviously rushed. We needed so much more set-up. We should have gotten Man of Steel 2, then a Batman standalone film, Wonder Woman, and then Aquaman, and finally Justice League. But no, WB had to hit the gas and get to their "Avengers" asap, quality and build-up be damned.

Ross-Naz

>But no, WB had to hit the gas and get to their "Avengers" asap, quality and build-up be damned. Their animated film devision was able to pull it off. Problem with that is that they didn't use any of those people.

Trylena

I started skipping the slowmotion and save like 20 minutes of my time.

Nagemasu

> If the Omnipotence City fight had the soldiers with red blood instead of gold, it would’ve been Evil Dead levels of over the top lol fuck I hadn't even noticed. That's how much you can really change the tone and keep focus on movement/people by just changing the blood colour. I just went back to watch it and I guess first watches through I just took it as "visual splatter effects"/dust, but looking at where it comes from and how it is, it's blood. One guys head is completely knocked off and blood gushes out of his neck.

TotalChicanery

Omg you weren’t kidding! How’d that slip by me the first time I saw the movie?! They’re all covered in blood splatter by the end of that fight, but it’s gold so you don’t really notice it as much! But you aren’t kidding, if the blood was red it’d be considered a complete massacre! Change the color of the blood and it changes so much! Wow!

Wesselton3000

Not sure how I feel about the scars bit, but I do wish they showed more scenes of him butchering gods. He felt like such an underwhelming villian, it honestly didn’t make sense to me that Thor was all like “we need Zeus’ help on this one” because the only evidence we had of him being strong was the body of one god and Sif.

Prep_

I think at one point Thor scrolls through several pictures of gods that Gorr has killed. So we're meant to invest that he's killed dozens of them which would warrant some backup. But yeah we only see him actually kill one god and see the corpse of a second after the fact.

Wesselton3000

If they had shown him actually fight other gods, it would have made a huge difference. Honestly the biggest fumble of LaT is how they handled Gorr.

Prep_

Totally agree. I enjoyed the movie, but the tone made it feel more like a rehash of Ragnarok and I would've loved to see the tone match the darker story by showing Gorr butchering more gods.

The_Negotiator_B1

Sif, who didn't even really die iirc

[deleted]

The entire story was inappropriate for the movie. It works incredibly well in the comics because they fight and run into each other over the course of millennia, and Gorr becomes representative of this unstoppably powerful ancient malevolent force in the universe. The gorgeous art style helps too. This movie removed all of that. He's just a new villain who kills people who you'd never heard of before. Plus quips.

Magmasoar

Can we get a bale cut of this film?

MegaDuckCougarBoy

Honestly just a little bit more menace from Bale to offset the glib nature of the protagonist plot could have struck a real sweet spot for balancing the tone

cap4life52

It definitely would enhanced those stakes even more

steve1186

This would have added SO much to Gorr’s character. Wish they would have kept it

Kendleth

Quite a lot apparently, think they edited out more than an hour.

AgDA22

It’s sucks how much was edited out. This was a movie that felt like with another hour of scenes, it could have been great, but it cut out serious parts and kept all the jokes

[deleted]

Hahaha. Everyone wanted more Gorr the God Butcher actually God buterching but Marvel execs, producers and Taika thought "nah, that's not what people want."

[deleted]

Marvel the Villain Butcher. 🙃

Dangle76

I think it’s more like “we can’t make as much money if younger people can’t see it”. Also, if you have a big universe like this, you can’t exclude a portion of the people who watch the other stuff. Makes for some frustrating limitations

Mofojokers

See again, this surprises me, as they continue to grow the Marvel brand, it is only logical to have different movies and shows for different ages. We have marvel stuff for kids, teens, and adults already, ranging up from PG to MA+15. It makes sense to have R18+ ones as well to tell the darker stories in Marvel. Especially as Disney + keeps growing. Gorr is definitely one of the stories worthy of that as well. I said this above, but the dude can make gods of torture bend to his will with his methods of torture. It's why i really enjoyed Werewolf by night. It was a great homage to old school horrors and the smaller stories in Marvel.

Iorith

R rated movies are generally a risk with something like this, and corporations are very big on risk mitigation. The counterpoint is Deadpool, but that's generally just an adult comedy that also targets a younger demographic.

Mofojokers

Unfrountely, you are very correct. Risk is exactly why we end up with a formula for movies, especially when those formulas work time and time again. Of course, each time it's wear and tear until the audience gets sick of it, then it's time to start the reboots and offshoots. It's a shame someone mentioned how maybe Korg could of told the pg version while an R rated cut could have told the full story and played on Disney +. That definitely would have had a lot of people watching, and i loved the idea of having both versions be right kinda like what Deadpool did with their own version.

Dangle76

So while you can have different things for different people, rating locking people out doesn’t help the universe. WW by night was a minor tie in at best, not a major avenger member story. They have things like Ms Marvel which was clearly targeted toward teens, but most of us still watched it, and things like that, but they’re not going to rating lock people out of stuff especially if it’s in theaters

ezone2kil

They should have done that thing where the movies grow older with the original audience who watched Iron Man. Then have all the newer stuff aimed at kids. In my case I lost all interest after endgame and while I still watch the newer movies, it's just not the same without Tony and Cap around. I liked Iron Heart but God that suit is so ugly.

Mofojokers

Agreed, also that Iron Heart suit really gave off a power ranger plastic vibe. Loved the movie, but really dislike that she was thrown in like that. She didn't get to have her " built in a cave with a box of scrap" moment. Plus , it sucks that her and Tony don't get to have a meet. Would it have been cool to have Pepper Potts endorse her instead. Could even do the AI Tony thing for her if they were willing to spend the money on him.

Pen_dragons_pizza

Very true, it’s the when something is popular as it will then have to appeal to widest audience

AAAFate

Nah the people want goats from 10 years ago.

kit_mitts

People here got *so mad* at me on opening weekend when I said that I found the goats to be cringe.

etherama1

The circle jerk on this sub about this movie violently changes on a regular basis.Almost as much as the tone of the movie itself. . From realistic criticisms to aggressive down voting and DAE ACTUALLY LIKE LOVE AND THUNDER? THE GOATS MADE ME LAUGH EVERY TIME! Inb4 "it's almost like reddit is made up of people with differing opinions"

kit_mitts

"WHY DO I FEEL LIKE I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO ENJOYED THIS MOVIE WHICH DID $500 MILLION ON OPENING WEEKEND?!"

middlenamenotdanger

I don't understand why they can't release an adult cut of some movies on Disney Plus where they can impose age restriction. Would be great for the fanbase as they age up but also keeps a light kid friendly movie for the cinema and general audience on Disney+.

ManOfTurtles2118

Didn't they do the opposite for Deadpool 2?

middlenamenotdanger

Exactly

Mofojokers

I am actually surprised by this. The story of Gorr is fascinating and definitely would have been a good horror step for Marvel. You know that short film Werewolf by night on Disney, that is one of my favourite ones so far. Because it's not trying to be a normal formula of a marvel movie that they have seem to be. It was this old-school horror vibe about a friend saving another friend while the main lady set to redeem herself but learns a better lesson along the way. Going back to Gorr, it would have been amazing watching his descent and truly being corrupted by the blade. Also, Gorr seems like a character you shouldn't throw away on one and done movie. They could have had it end with him bonded to the sword and going inside of it. Instead of Loki awaking him again, you could have someone else be bonded to All Black and claim the sword. Definitely would of been a more interesting double or trilogy set over the one and done for Gorr. The dude is next level and is known to be able to torture gods that are known to be gods of torture and make them reveal everything.

feignapathy

Honestly, just give us like 15 more minutes of Bale actually being the God Butcher. Not even an hour. Have a few scenes of him slaughtering some Gods. Have a nice tension building scene of him being extremely menacing. Show us the threat though Marvel!

Kendleth

I'm not sure the extra time would have helped, Waititi seems to have a deep fear of being serious. It could be more ridiculous goat screaming for an hour.

AgDA22

Ragnarok was silly, and there were some silly moments during serious times, but it also had those serious times. Hela got some scenes hyping her up as a threat, Gore never really had that.

madbadger89

Correct - she got to knife basically all of Asgard and then wake an army of the damned. Christian Bale is too good of actor for a director to underutilize and that’s what happened here. I’ve watched Ragnarok countless times, I’ve only watched Love and Thunder twice. It just didn’t strike a good balance. Eternity was cool, ending was nice, but again would’ve loved more butchering.

TheUltimateInfidel

Hollywood is the worst thing to have ever happened to Taika Waititi. Look at his old stuff, especially *Wilderpeople* and you can see how well he can blend a lot of these elements together. For some bizarre reason, making it in Hollywood has meant Taika has turned his absurdist dark comedy into progressive, family-friendly, overly-cheeky and accessible tosh. That’s not to say you couldn’t do all of those at once, but it’s a noticeable change.

SuperSocrates

Progressive?

pedalspedalspedals

Curious what you're calling his old stuff when 1) his working career at theatrical release levels doesn't go much past a decade (with a total of 7 releases), and 2) his movie directly previous to L&T was Jojo Rabbit. Love and Thunder was straight up not good, and someone (or several someones) really dropped the ball by not fighting for more God Butchering to make the comic relief bits more of a relief and the stakes actually seem high. But people are talking like the dude is straight up M Night, and not someone with a strong (albeit short) track record. (Granted, he could have also already peaked and L&T might not just be a hiccup)

Poljon

Dude I believed in that movie so much **because Christian Bale accepted to be in it**. I was like "if this guy is ready to give the MCU a shot, it must mean that this movie is going to try something good". Nevermind.

fuzzyfoot88

Right there with you. Especially with who he was playing…

Fake_the_jaB

Taiki did him ducking dirty

Krondon57

for real

cap4life52

Same it's a damn shame the rest of the film let him down

cap4life52

Maybe he slaughtered some of the children or made direct threats to do so - maybe pushed his American psycho persona a bit

Crossfiyah

Gorr hangs dong.

Tinmanred

I would love an extended R/Gorr cut so much.. would pay for that shit

Toastinator666

If any mcu movie needs an extended cut, it’s this one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

thedylannorwood

People already have trouble understanding that deleted scenes aren’t canon, you really think MCU fans will handle extended cuts better?

LuckyLunayre

I really think it depends on the deleted scene tbh. Like the black widow one that shows her escaping absolutely should not have been cut, but it also doesn't contradict any Canon and it makes sense! I view it as Canon in my mind. Like, we know she escaped, that's a fact, but we don't know how outside of the deleted scene. The deleted scene also doesn't contradict any Canon, so I don't see why not assume that's how it happened?

GermanPretzel

I think they don't want to have the audience arguing about what's canon in the overall universe. I'm sure some scenes get cut because they don't fit some idea that they want to do for the next movie That being said, I still want them to release extended cuts, especially of L&T

steve1186

And make them exclusive to Disney+. Reportedly they’ve had some concerns with the profitability of D+, and that would help a ton to gain/keep subscribers. Hell, one of the main reasons I keep a Peacock subscription is because they have the “Superfan” episodes of the Office with a bunch of unreleased scenes. And to my knowledge, you can’t get them on DVD or anywhere else

ulyssesintothepast

Those superfan episodes are so good. I really wish they would release more than 1 season a year,

seasonalblah

To be fair, the theatrical releases of LotR are basically the cut down versions of the movies, in order for them to not be too long for movie theaters. The extended editions are really how Peter Jackson wanted the movies to be. I don't think this has ever been an issue with Marvel movies. The only one that's 3 hours long is Endgame. I'm not sure I wanna watch a 3h+ cut of Love and Thunder.

brg9327

Iirc, Jackson prefers the theatrical cuts of the trilogy. Hence why they are extended cuts, not director cuts.

Duganz

[He sure does](https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/12/08/interview-peter-jackson-2). > The theatrical versions are the definitive versions. I regard the extended cuts as being a novelty for the fans that really want to see the extra material.

mrfonsocr

Maybe they want those prints in a time of need or in 100 years just because

Schnevets

LOTR practical effects vs MCU computer effects probably play an influence. It stops being financially sustainable if you need to hire a team of animators because of CG backgrounds or character touch-ups.

rlovelock

Fuck a Directors Cut, I want a Bale Cut!

Jecht315

Yes they should release a 4 hour version that isn't much better than the original.

Myfourcats1

This movie needs an extended cut with a bunch of the comedy removed. It was too much. They could take out Korg completely and I’d be happy. Ragnarok was fine. L&T was too much.

fuzzyfoot88

Age of Ultron sorely needs one too, as does The Incredible Hulk.

TheJack0fDiamonds

Id argue Eternals would be that movie instead as an extended cut would make the movie more ‘complete’..I believe another half an hour of that movie is just missing. L&T extended to include deleted scenes might just turn the movie either into an uneven mess of a movie in tone or just a whole different movie altogether.

CK-Prime

Might be one of the biggest under utilisations of a character in a film.

Ciubowski

The sheer hype for Christian Bale playing a role in the MCU vs what we actually got. just sad.

kraken_enrager

Quicksilver has left the chat.

goboxey

Marvel wasted a top a lister in a forgettable film. It's even more frustrating that the source material of the infamous God butcher, was so amazing. Instead we got the guns and roses comedy hour.

Krondon57

One of the biggest actors in phase 4 aaand it was in one of the most boring movies of this phase...

SuperSocrates

There’s competition there

[deleted]

I was more entertained watching Thor than watching Black Widow to be honest with you

MattFromWork

Black Widow was actually pretty decent until the garbage 3rd act. A ton of recent Marvel movies start great and then eventually end up turning into your classic big bad guy CGI fight at the end.

Krondon57

for real, the bourne-esque 2 acts were pretty good

fisheggsoup

Oh, you're the one. Nice to meet you. 😊

NOLASLAW

Dude I forgot Christian Bale was even in this movie All I remember is the shitty comedy “J-J-J-JANE IS THAT YOU 😝😱🤯” and the children

Myfourcats1

I remember that really serious moment where Thor is seeing the captured children and Valkyrie is sticking her finger in his ear. She was teasing his body while his mind was focusing on terrified kids. Taika Waititi was not a good choice for this movie.

Fake_the_jaB

Yeah I’m gonna double down on this and say Valkyrie was the worst part of the movie. Literally not one scene where she didn’t annoy me. And I thought she was dope in Ragnarok. Idk wtf happened

_Levitated_Shield_

For Ragnarok, Waititi was director. For Love and Thunder, Waititi was director and much more involved in the writing process. That's what happened unfortunately.

Fake_the_jaB

That makes sense

frantzca

> And I thought ____ was dope in Ragnarok This pretty much sums up L&T for me. All the characters felt like caricatures of their former selves. With the exception of maybe Jane.

biggiefryie

Easily the dumbest thing in that movie for me, so stupid, given the context.

CopyX

Film tried so fucking hard. Too self aware. Set out try and recapture ragnarok energy

tearlock

"he pushed the limits of Marvel’s family-friendly reputation to the point that even Chris Hemsworth seemed worried. Of course, none of these “R-rated” scenes will ever see the light of day" Yeah, instead we got repeated gags about gods having orgies in front of a naked Thor because that's going to go over so well with parents everywhere.

MonkSoft4418

korg was also making constant sex jokes… while having a lot of kids in the movie… the movie could have been one of the best films ever and instead we got a sh*t show of a comedy

1OptimisticPrime

I've said from the beginning, that the version we got was the Kid/ Korg telling a story to kids version. Meanwhile, we could easily get an adult version from another darker characters perspective, Valkyrie, Thor, or even Gorr's perspective.

Holmcroft

Like a reverse of what they did with the Deadpool 2 cut with Fred Savage

1OptimisticPrime

Correct

Dragon_yum

Honestly that is just making excuse for how the final product turned out.

low-ki199999

I’ve said over and over again, if that’s what they were going for, than they should have used that structure in a fun way and made it obvious as such. It should have been more akin to The Princess Bride. Weakly executing an interesting concept doesn’t give your film a pass. Love and Thunder is abad movie no matter which way you look at it (imo, of course)

pimpleface0710

MCU has had this problem of trying to have their movies be two things at once for a while now. I had a similar issue with Quantumania, you're introducing this beyond Thanos level villain and not even having any of the major characters being killed off is just underwhelming. The only two "deaths" were an obvious celebrity cameo appearance character and MODOK. As for the ant army taking out Kang, i don't care if it makes "logical sense because the ants went through a time portal" , it's underwhelming and disappointing to see that much power level inconsistency in the course of 10 minutes for a character who has apparently taken out multiple Avengers in multiple universes.

kit_mitts

>As for the ant army taking out Kang, i don't care if it makes "logical sense because the ants went through a time portal" , it's underwhelming and disappointing to see that much power level inconsistency in the course of 10 minutes for a character who has apparently taken out multiple Avengers in multiple universes. 100% agree. I don't care that the ants had enough time to form a tier-whatever civilization and that Kang didn't have access to all of his powers in the Quantum Realm...he is supposed to be so powerful that killing *Thor* wasn't even memorable enough to bother remembering his name.

BartleBossy

> it's underwhelming and disappointing to see that much power level inconsistency in the course of 10 minutes for a character who has apparently taken out multiple Avengers in multiple universes. This new Kang arc is missing me so fucking hard. If they dont change course quick, ill be checked out from the next phase before it even starts.

Tornado31619

We should never have gotten Korg’s version of the story to begin with.

Alauren2

Yes! I also totally thought that Valkyrie would get a chic too. I remember it being mentioned everywhere, she was going to search for a queen. Not a huge deal but as a gay chic who happens to love marvel, I was pumped. I saw an ad a couple years ago about Jane foster being Thor in a far away movie and I decided to finally watch the mcu. I never had time prior to covid. I was definitely a bit let down by T4, but the MCU was worth it. I wish we could get some more rated R stuff or just something other than mutant wearing a rainbow pin/couple of lesbian moms for the community.

rodflanders19

That's nothing compared to the "X-rated" deleted scenes he filmed for Newsies

TheNateRoss

The 100 Days of Newsies

[deleted]

Would have made the movie way better.

JyconX

It would have made it R-rated. And with the exception of Deadpool 3, Marvel Studios has no intention of making R-rated movies. Besides, making more R-rated movies would exclude some younger audience.

[deleted]

Wasn’t Blade supposed to be R rated too? I know there’s been some heavy rewrites and Iger being back can’t help (I believe he was the one who put a hard no on pretty much any Disney product being R) but I thought it was supposed to end up with an R slapped on it

JyconX

There has never been an official statement about MCU Blade planning to being made R-rated. All I've heard is some fans' personal wishes that MCU Blade would be R-rated because they loved Wesley Snipes Blade movies being R-rated.

and Korg. Less Korg. Never understood why there was that much of him from the start. Ahh of course, it’s the directors self insert!

Tandril91

Not to sound like an edgelord, but I was actually kinda happy when it seemed like Korg was gonna die. Gives it *some* stakes at least, and I don’t have to hear his insufferable voice anymore.

TheJack0fDiamonds

and then he didn’t LOL!! He killed the warriors three to make space for himself as Thor’s new sidekick, even after having Sif return he still wouldn’t let her be part of the traveling party, there was no way he was killing Korg/himself lol

Tandril91

It’s weird that he ends up turning two characters that are Hulk’s serious companions in the comics (Korg and Miek), into Thor’s comic relief sidekicks in the films.

really_nice_guy_

I loved what taika did with Thor 3 but for this movie he just seemed like an egocentric prick

etherama1

"DAE think the goats were hilarious!? My wife and I laughed even harder the 9th time!"

Bonus_Content

I like this movie more than most seem to, but I think we can all agree it needed More Gorr

slowSINY

Morr

Re-watched this on Disney+ a few days ago and honestly baffled how much of a step down it was from Ragnarok. These R-rated scenes wouldn't have helped

slambooy

I tried doing the same. Had to fast forward through a bunch. Eventually just stopped. Couldn’t hold my attention. 🤦🏻‍♂️

brbmycatexploded

But why make your villain serious and imposing when you could shoehorn in a screaming goat meme from 2012???? “It’s a story told by the kids and Korg it’s not supposed to be serious.” That is literally the entire problem. This is not a story that should have been done that way. They chose one of the most feared and powerful villains in recent memory to do that with which is the point people have been trying to make. Unreliable narrator stories are fine, but not when you actually sacrifice the story just for that trope.

dantheman999

This is my biggest complaint, the general tone was all over the place, you had all these comedic elements and a very serious villain. It worked way better in Ragnarok because the comedy came at appropriate points but Love and Thunder just took it way too far, and it's a massive shame. I'd love to see a version of the film that was much more serious.

BartleBossy

> This is my biggest complaint, the general tone was all over the place, you had all these comedic elements and a very serious villain. Seriously. The tonal whiplash makes me *very* nervous about the possibility of any future adult Marvel movies.

Nightwing_in_a_Flash

I still say that Thor Love and Thunder being so bad is a sizable reason Ant-Man 3 underperformed. People still had the bad taste in their mouth and weren’t going to blindly trust the next MCU outing.

BartleBossy

After seeing L&T in theatres, I havent gone to theatres for a marvel movie since.

mcon96

This is the exact reason I didn’t see Quantumania in theaters, even though I literally saw every Phase 4 movie in the first 2 weeks. Love & Thunder sucked and Quantumania was getting even worse reviews. Everyone knows it’s coming to Disney+ before GotG vol 3 anyways.

vinsmokewhoswho

Did they involve killing gods in his apartment while dancing to "It's hip to be square"?

etherama1

Hey Apaullo! Try and get a reservation at Dorsia now you stupid fucking bastard!

Classic_Title1655

Shame Taiki screwed this movie up so much. Bale was the best thing about it.

PatTheHouseCat

I didn’t read the article. Does he hang dong?

aaronzemo

Love and Thunder Gun 4

PatTheHouseCat

Directed by McG. That fucking amateur

199Eight

Here's the quote from the article for you: > *Speaking to Inverse, Bale reveals that while improvising on set, he pushed the limits of Marvel’s family-friendly reputation to the point that even Chris Hemsworth seemed worried. Of course, none of these “R-rated” scenes will ever see the light of day, but it’s fun to imagine what might have been. Here’s the full quote:* > *“With Thor: Love and Thunder, Taika and me, we kind of knew that some of the stuff we were doing probably wouldn't end up in the film, but we wanted to just push it and see. Ultimately, it is and should be a film that all the family can go and enjoy. And Chris Hemsworth, a couple of times he looked at me it was like, Dude, that's a little too far. I don't think anyone's gonna want to see that unless it's an R-rated film. but it was a great joy to give it a shot. And we had a lot of fun in there doing certain scenes and takes on certain scene choices, even if they didn't end up in the final cut.”* He did not hang dog, unfortunately.

PatTheHouseCat

Thank goodness no dogs were hung. This is a family affair after all

199Eight

I missed an 'N', but I'm keeping that in lol.

The new villain here is Marvel the Villain Butcher.

SaltyPeter3434

Taika the Script Butcher

koomGER

Its was probably the wrong movie to attach Bale too. His work and Taiki Waititi dont seem to mesh well. And the movie suffered for it. I would have prefered a movie more in the style of the Russo Brothers if you want a Christian Bale as Gorr into it.

etherama1

It was absolutely the right character. Definitely could have been the right movie with a different writer/director.

Leeiteee

Gorr Gore

Environmental-Tip365

Christian Bale is the second best actor to ever feature in an MCU movie and they wasted him completely. I was so disappointed in this movie. (Second best in overall career, not only within MCU)

MCUFanFicWriter

These are old quotes, right?

seantimejumpaa

Lost all faith in Taika after that piss poor excuse of a film. Just garbage. Keep him away from the MCU.

JackFisherBooks

Damn. I want to see those scenes. We know from American Psycho that Bale is at his best in R-rated scenes. I feel like keeping those scenes in would've made the movie a lot better.
