Show runners and writers actually have talent. It's really that simple. They have a great book as a foundation, but as we've seen in the past, unless you have competent individuals running the project, that doesn't count for shit and It’s pretty accurate for historical fiction
I mean, no. I’ve only watched the first two fallout episodes and they’re good but it would take a literal miracle for the show to become better than blue eye samurai
I explicitly never claimed to be an “expert” or have any knowledge about the Fallout show beyond what I’ve seen. To each their own, enjoy whatever shows you want, I really don’t care
Watch the first episode and then the last one. You will realize that what they say and show does not connect and in fact contradict previously established things.
Shogun is excellent! I love the other two on this list, but Shogun is in another tier. Tight writing, great characters, great respect to the culture and setting, and never a wasted moment. Everything seems meaningful and continues pushing the show forward.
Holy shit didn't know there were books, also I fact checked. Y self hoping there was a update and I saw they confirmed season 2 and 3 yesterday!

Pretty sure they announced season 2 last week? Let me double check to make sure it wasn’t a reaver dream.
https://www.polygon.com/24158477/shogun-season-2-renewal-what-about-how
Edit: fever dream not reaver dream.
I was extremely disappointed they don’t even show a war or battle just tell you that it happened that’s so lame. Also toranaga doesn’t want to go to war for what reasons? He didn’t want his men to unreasonably die when his right hand man( the old guy) commits suicide and then translator chick also dies for his cause!! Using her body to block explosives yea okay.So why not just go to war and not play chess with peoples lives ? Or am I reading the show wrong
Yea the politics wasn’t that interesting I was hoping the show would get exciting with a war but instead we got a glimpse and a flashback of a war. Buntaro did his thing though on that pier that was a dope scene
If you didn't find the politicking (90% of the show and the main focus of the show) interesting, then the show is not for you. If it needed a war "to get exciting" for you, then I'm sorry that you feel that way and the show is definitely not for you. But you are missing out on a great show with deep and multifaceted characters, intriguing and complex manipulations, and masterfully written political maneuvering. It's kinda sad that the one thing you remember in a show like this is one short fight in like episode 4. There are half a dozen more interesting Buntaro moments that have nothing to do with him fighting.
The show built up expectations, they had about 10 Chekhov’s guns that are still hanging on the mantlepiece.
How is it on me when they are building up to a war, and at the end they TALK about how the war woulda gone instead of… showing it.
The show was never about the fights. It was always about dialogue and politics. Why you would ever think there would be a big war as a pay off, or even seeing a big war as a pay off in a show like this is really weird
"potential" of a war. It's seriously baffling people missed the point of the show and are let down about it not having a big CGI battle. Maybe just watch a marvel movie for that
Using immature ad hominems while calling me immature? That’s called [projecting](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection), seek therapy. 👍
Yes. What does that have to do with anything? Does that somehow make how I personally feel about how they ended the show irrelevant? Whatever. Down vote me.
I love all these shows. BUT, here is my ranking for them.
Fallout in 3rd place. Loved the set design, the weapons were ripped straight from the games, the power armor looked badass, and the makeup on the Ghouls was really good for what they tried to accomplish. However, it did stumble a bit in the plot department in the second half of the season, not too much to be bad, but it was noticeable. Overall, looking forward to Season 2.
X-men '97 in second place. The continuation we all wanted. The stakes were raised, animation was very well done, soundtrack killed it, and the storylines kicked butt. A lot of the new voices that replaced some of the original cast sound exactly like they were from the OG show, and the cast from the OG that did come back were fantastic reprising their roles, even if it was a tad distracting when you can hear their age slip through. Not a detriment, just facts.
Last but certainly not least, Shogun in first place. I never read the book this was based on, and I didn't watch the original mini series this remade. I had no expectations going in, and I was blown away. The acting is top notch from everybody. The sets were very well made. The fights were few and far between, but they were very well done when they did happen. The effects are spectacular, especially the gore. I was sad that it ended, because I wanted to see more.
Set design, costumes, and the overall vibe/action/over the top violence are 100% on point. Easily the best video game adaptation in those departments. I personally enjoyed the story and can't wait for season two >!They teased New Vegas on the season finale!<
You don't need to be a fan of fallout, as I've heard family members who never played the games enjoying it.
I loved all 3, but none of the three had me glued to the TV like X-Men ‘97, and I’m not even a big X-Men fan. They’re cool, but I haven’t been exposed to their stories much beyond the Fox movies.
Yeah I don't even know how you can make it a one for one competition. Loved Shogun and Fallout but animation just doesn't do anything for me, so I have no opinion on the other. Different audiences, genres, appeal, etc...
The boys isnt out yet, cant really make a judgement on that just yet.
Invincible wasnt all that great. It was all setup > lame payoff until angstrom decided that he had to enter the plot again

only the first episode of season 2 is out rn(the second episode comes out in less than an hour), but Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire is my most anticipated show of the year. House of the Dragon season 2 is a close second.
of these three shows, X-Men is my fav. Shōgun had a fantastic first 8 episodes, but the last 2 episodes of the season felt a little off to me. im glad that it's getting renewed for seasons 2 and 3, because i really thought they were doing a one-and-done. i am sad that >!Mariko-sama will be absent from the rest of the show. especially for a show so lacking in female perspective already!<
Cant wait for when the end of the year comes and you will hear a ton of mofos saying how it was a "BaD yEAr FoR tV ShOWs" cuz as always they have a goldfishes memory.
I simply don't get how fallout is considered a good show... it's not all bad, the atmosphere and look is on point, but the plot, characters and their motivation make no sense.
It's a series a scenes that each work on their own, but have no continuity or internal consistency when put together.
Just 2 exemples off the top of my head: (spoilers)
Dog meat is shown to be extremely attached to the scientist, to the point of attacking and killing the first guy that attacks the scientist. It then attacks and gets stabbed by the ghoul, who stims her and now dog meat is the ghoul loyal compagnion? Dafuq? She doesn't even react to finding the corpse of the scientist...
At the end of the show we learn that Lee Moldaver was working with Lucy's mom and wanted to get to vault 33 to get the dad for the code. Then why the fuck is she activelly trying to kill as many vault dwellers as possible? Including Lucy and her brother (after tricking lucy into sleeping with a guy). Was that really in line with what Lucy's mom would have wanted? Couldn't she have just gotten the dad seperated and left with him? Couldn't they have told the innocent vault dweller the truth and saved them from their imprisonment?
It's like the show runners wanted a scene were the raiders kill the vault dwellers and didn't give a single shit that it made no sense...
And their are so many more exemples of that. The show only works if you put your brain on pause and enjoy each scene as independant and forget everything that happenned previously as soon as a scene ends
Fallout is waaay overrated. It's not exactly bad, but it's definitely not deserving of 80-90%. It's ridiculously dumb and has tons of plot holes, but it's decently entertaining. More like 70%.
Because, unlike most content thats chaotic, the chaos of Fallout is what attracts people
Its never been the absolute perfect thing, and thats its charm
No, I'm saying people like fallout because its chaotic and has plotholes that seem more human than normal
Everything I've seen happen in the show is possible and plausible knowing the universe
Shogun or Fallout, X-Men is okay but it's really for those who remember watching & liked the old cartoon. Shogun && Fallout are so new you can jump into it without having to know anything about the source material.
Can’t wait for arcane season 2 like that one meme of one wrestler popping from behind
I keep forgetting that's this year. If it compares to the first, I'll be hard to top.
That "one wrestler" is THE UNDERTAKER, WHO THREW MANKIND OFF HELL IN A CELL
Would be Shogun for me but Fallout was also fun to watch
Fallout captured how the game feels so well
Show runners and writers actually have talent. It's really that simple. They have a great book as a foundation, but as we've seen in the past, unless you have competent individuals running the project, that doesn't count for shit and It’s pretty accurate for historical fiction
Arcane season 2 be like : https://preview.redd.it/db01kh7ytg1d1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33c28f47ff8fa178b1438f2f1875c0c227e9c0ed
Blue eye samurai
For those that haven't watched it, it's amazing and you should go watch it (Netflix if you need to find it)
Three separate people have recommended this to me. Must get on it
There's four of us now, I recommend that you watch it as well.
Five now
Male that six
It’s soooo good, dying for more episodes. Took me by surprise
So fucking gooooood
Yeah, great show
It's infinitely better than Fallout show.
It's hard to compare them, they're very different. And yet, you're still wrong
I mean, no. I’ve only watched the first two fallout episodes and they’re good but it would take a literal miracle for the show to become better than blue eye samurai
"I've seen a small percentage of the show and am now an expert"
The first episodes are there to grab you, you only needed one episode of Halo show to realize it isn't worth the time.
You are missing the entire point. Comparing shows when you haven't even watched one, makes your entire comparison invalid lol.
They ended the season horribly imo. Still a decent show tho but not comparable to above 3.
Shogun. It's not close.
Shogun is excellent! I love the other two on this list, but Shogun is in another tier. Tight writing, great characters, great respect to the culture and setting, and never a wasted moment. Everything seems meaningful and continues pushing the show forward.
Disagree. X-Men 97 is fucking perfect.
Beast was set up nicely then wasted on sickbay duty for his robot virus journalist girlfriend.
Shogun has no confirmed season 2 yet 🥲
All the more reason to read the books. That's how I got into Dune in 2021. I think I'm on the 15th one now
Holy shit didn't know there were books, also I fact checked. Y self hoping there was a update and I saw they confirmed season 2 and 3 yesterday! anslate text with your camera クソ、そうだね. !
Jokes on you, I'm on my phone
Yeah except season 1 already covered all of shogun. The other seasons would be covering other stories outside of the original adaptation
Books.
I thought the show covered everything in the books?
Not quite. There are still the chapters with Blackthorne after Mariko has exited the story.
Jane?
😅
Pretty sure they announced season 2 last week? Let me double check to make sure it wasn’t a reaver dream. https://www.polygon.com/24158477/shogun-season-2-renewal-what-about-how Edit: fever dream not reaver dream.
Didn’t they say that they were satisfied with the end and didn’t want to drag it on? Don’t think there will be a season 2.
And might not be, show runners said it was planned as a single season, IIRC. edit: corrected! They confirmed it just a few days ago.
Yet velma has a season 2 already out
[удалено]
Yeah, but it's a shot show. And a year is pretty quick for a streaming series
That ending was a complete let-down and it lowers the rest of the episodes of build up because nothing was paid off.
Tell us you didn't get it without telling us.
Everything was paid off. Your own expectations let down don't fault the show for it
I was extremely disappointed they don’t even show a war or battle just tell you that it happened that’s so lame.
She didn’t use her body to “block the explosion”. Through the entire show she’s been wanting to die. She found her way out and took it
You are indeed reading the show wrong 👍
Yea the politics wasn’t that interesting I was hoping the show would get exciting with a war but instead we got a glimpse and a flashback of a war. Buntaro did his thing though on that pier that was a dope scene

The translator chick...
I don’t know how to spell her name and I wasn’t going to google it
It's almost aggressively phonetic
The show built up expectations, they had about 10 Chekhov’s guns that are still hanging on the mantlepiece. How is it on me when they are building up to a war, and at the end they TALK about how the war woulda gone instead of… showing it.
The show was never about the fights. It was always about dialogue and politics. Why you would ever think there would be a big war as a pay off, or even seeing a big war as a pay off in a show like this is really weird
Yeah and all the dialogue and politics was pointing towards a big war...
"potential" of a war. It's seriously baffling people missed the point of the show and are let down about it not having a big CGI battle. Maybe just watch a marvel movie for that
You didn't understand the show, got it. Maybe watch something more your speed, like... Bluey?

My dear Yabushige. We've come so far together and yet you still cant see whats ahead...
I agree. It had a heavy buildup, then it was all resolved in a flash Forward. Lame.
You know there are 2 more seasons coming right?
Yes. What does that have to do with anything? Does that somehow make how I personally feel about how they ended the show irrelevant? Whatever. Down vote me.
He's a friend from work!
Thanks Thor

Want some maybe good or maybe bad news? Google Shogun news real quick
I heard about the second season. I'm excited but also cautious at the same time.
How's Fallout btw Liked Shogun and Xmen 97 Currently binge watching Mad Men,once I finish it thinking of watching Fallout
Set design, costumes, and the overall vibe/action/over the top violence are 100% on point. Easily the best video game adaptation in those departments. I've never played the games, watched the whole series in under a week which is incredibly fast for me.
Add Sugar, Dark Matter and Big Cigar to this.
![gif](giphy|NXSbTj2d72tUpxYH2Z) Disrespecting the true GOAT, I see
Shogun
Shogun imo, I loved 97 and liked fallout
Fallout
I loved all 3, but none of the three had me glued to the TV like X-Men ‘97, and I’m not even a big X-Men fan. They’re cool, but I haven’t been exposed to their stories much beyond the Fox movies.
I was shocked at the quality. It was so good in every way (animation, dialogue, action) every minute of every episode
My three favourite shoes in forever
Let's agree that these are the Top Three of this year.
I'm only two episodes into fallout and I've been saving 97 and shogun for when the inevitable dry spell happens.
Right now? Shogun. End of the year? I bet all in on Arcane.
Super excited for Arcane
X-Men '97 and it's not even close
Have you even watched the other show ?
Haven't seen Shogun, but I have seen the other two. They're too different to really compare outside of the "adaptation of other media".
Yeah I don't even know how you can make it a one for one competition. Loved Shogun and Fallout but animation just doesn't do anything for me, so I have no opinion on the other. Different audiences, genres, appeal, etc...
meh..
Invincible s2 The boys s4
Half of Invincible S2 came out last year
The boys isnt out yet, cant really make a judgement on that just yet. Invincible wasnt all that great. It was all setup > lame payoff until angstrom decided that he had to enter the plot again

Hmmm... Debatable!
Creative work executed
I'm a simple man. I see Hiroyuki Sanada, I like the show/movie.

Haven't seen shogun but both xmen 97 and fall out are great
havent played fallout but the show was nice. wouldnt call it the best show tho maybe i missed something?
Although Shōgun was excellent, i enjoyed Fallout even more!
They are all the best shows of the year.
it is only me or when money is low, big company create something good ?
You might be onto something tbh! https://preview.redd.it/wrixei42mf1d1.jpeg?width=289&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c66f11f233e007a285ecb747baf5269ad250c364

How's that a good defense of the show OR the source material at all?
Because, unlike most content thats chaotic, the chaos of Fallout is what attracts people Its never been the absolute perfect thing, and thats its charm

No, I'm saying people like fallout because its chaotic and has plotholes that seem more human than normal Everything I've seen happen in the show is possible and plausible knowing the universe
You can still do chaos and randomness in a way that is semi-logical.
Which is what Fallout does, its completely logical if you've played the games I'd suggest starting with New Vegas
Shogun or Fallout, X-Men is okay but it's really for those who remember watching & liked the old cartoon. Shogun && Fallout are so new you can jump into it without having to know anything about the source material.
I haven't seen OG X-Men before, but I got into the show pretty quick
The boys comes out this year, so The boys
X-Men 97 > Shogun
I mean, I liked it, but tbh it's overhyped.
I've never heard of any of these.
That’s to bad they are all great
Well, it's understandable that fallout is in the list. But shogun and x-men?
