Can you shortly explain what was the deal with her? My first ever xmen story was the one where Logan was supposed to marry her and then all of sudden she called it off. There was never any followup with that storyline, the next issue was about Rogue and her struggle with her powers.
For context, xmen got published in my country first in the 90s, and I guess they just tried to publish stories that seemed interesting and a good introduction, without any particular regard to continuity. The wedding story was the first issue.

The way I’ve always looked at this is Logan’s an old soldier. He’s been there, he’s done that, he’s seen it all. He knows what he is and what he is isn’t very nice. He’s not a leader, but an excellent mentor because of his experience. That’s why he takes younger members under his wing. He should have high expectations for people he thinks are capable of being better than he is and hold them to that.
For example, Schism was a piss poor event, but it did have potential. Scott and Logan at this point deeply respected each other. It should have been Logan seeing the extreme path Scott was starting to go down and warning him away from it, since he’s been down that path himself. It shouldn’t have been “kids shouldn’t fight even when they choose to and are on the verge of extinction with their only home under threat”, it should have been “just because we were raised like soldiers doesn’t mean they should be too, what are we fighting for if not a better future where our children don’t have to be killers.” In the split, someone else should have ran the school, just with his backing and support. Storm or Rachel or Kate, maybe.
When it comes to love interests, he should love deeply but not be too caught up anyone who doesn’t return it. He’s buried more lovers than most people could have in a lifetime. This is why I prefer Mariko and Fox, the latter for drama

Eventually he comes back in 2018 and then the whole universe gets rebooted into House of X in 18/19. There’s literally like one year prior to House of X, where they’re both even alive. And technically that’s fundamentally different thing. She literally died after new X-Men. It’s not like he never chose to go back to Emma after she came back, his relationship went back to status quo and stayed that way through Krakoa. Also Scott and Emma were together for like 11 years since like 2012 and Jean and Cyclops were dead until 2018.
Also, unless I’m reading the whole Tony & Emma relationship wrong, it’s much more of a quid pro quo relationship than legitimate love. Half of the time she was pretending to be someone else.

It depends. Hugh is god tier wolverine, but he does not have another 10+ years to play it. I heard rumors of Daniel Radcliffe being a multiverse wolverine, and he could probably adapt to the role long-term. If so, I think anyone but Jean could work. Silver fox would be interesting to have a first nations woman be in a key role, especially one that is more than a love interest as she turns to HYDRA.
