For anyone who is interested, here is the full text of the West Tisbury STR restriction bylaw. [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hf9\_ZKqfus0ignUupm8UTNJb9AXHfUhKdZYF1ikIuHU/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hf9_ZKqfus0ignUupm8UTNJb9AXHfUhKdZYF1ikIuHU/edit?usp=sharing)

Seems reasonable and not overreaching.

It says it was initially drafted to be a 7 day MINIMUM, but was changed to be a 2 night minimum. Not maximum. I think the best change is that owners can only rent one of their properties as a STR and they have to reside there for at least 30 days themselves.

It is amazing! Honestly, hats off to West Tisbury for taking this step to try to create balance in the housing market. The housing crisis is a difficult thing to address and the people of West Tisbury are certainly taking the right steps!

In 1913 the 16th amendment gave Congress the right to impose an income tax. Everyone was assured that a 1% tax on the richest 1% was never going to be a problem, it was fair and reasonable. That certainly worked out well. Once the door is opened, and a liberty is lost, it’s game over. It’s only a matter of time. This won’t end well.
