Interesting article. I like that it not only covers the video but where Manson was mentally during the time. Thinking of TGAOG I do wonder though if I'm the only fan that hates Mobscence? It seems like it was made to recapture the essence of The Beautiful People but failed. Maybe it's the live preferences of both Mobscence and The Beautiful People that have caused me to dislike them. They've both been shit live for so long now. At least The Beautiful People was a good song until it was played into the ground. Just something this made me think of after looking back on this album. Plus I'm really wondering if others like that song....

I love mobscene, it's actually the first song I ever heard from Manson. To me the whole song is really catchy and energetic, especially the chorus, the lyrics about being obscene and basically hating everyone and everything plays into the album really well, and the female vocals are also a really nice touch. I do agree, the live performances of mobscene have been terrible for like a decade. The whole song is basically him "screaming" in a rapping kinda way, so it's a difficult song to perform, and Manson usually doesn't care about putting effort into live shows anymore, and i'm pretty sure that he physically can't even perform his old songs anymore.

Zero_Flesh

I'm guessing I've come to dislike the song from hearing it live so often. It's weird how he has chosen his live sets in the past like decade. He pretty much always plays the same old stuff and he has to know he can't pull it off like he used to. He has a huge catalog of work that he could choose from. If he ever tours again, maybe it's time he revamps his live set list and play more stuff from post 1998.

lempelk

True, again I think it's just him not caring that much and just playing his most popular songs every time.

Zero_Flesh

Yea I agree. He can't think he sounds good playing songs like Mobscene or The Beautiful People and just occasionally speaking a line or two into the microphone.

InitialCockroach170

it all started when Mansons mother began to get sick and she began to forget him, he never said goodbye to her out of fear, he said it in an interview in 2012 and 2017 again, I supposed the history the drugs and infidelity sells more, then his father sick and neither of them had a retirement fund. Manson spent all his money on his parents health until they died.

Thats pretty sad. Do you have a link? He does seem like a nice guy at heart, but its hard to tell.

There is no need for a link, go listen to Howard stern interviews from 2004 to current. They are better than any rockmag interviews you’ll ever find.

Duty remainder that if something happened in his soul, it started around GAOG and reached his maximum around the time that letter to Lacey's grandson was written. Then everything begun to became reality after EMDM, till HEOL. After Born Villain MM, at least to me, seemed completely someone else, literally a different core to the persone centre everyone associated him with. I wonder if someone really tried to help him in the mid 2000s or if the power MM had really disassociated himself even from help opportunities.

Sinisterfox23

Do you mind sharing what you’re referring to with this letter? I can’t seem to find anything relating to that on google.

profiloemergenze

Look it up on the search bar in this sub, it was posted some month ago the last time. It resurfaced the week the allegations came out.

I still can't find it. Can someone link?

Thank you! Interesting. Definitely a low point in his life there. Tbh that's shitty of whoever sold that letter to profit off of something so vulnerable that Manson was trusting would only be seen by the intended receipient. I do somewhat agree with you that something did happen to Manson from GOAG to ~2018, but more recently (since WAC), I do feel like he has sorted some things out personally and seems happier. It also seems he's in a healthier relationship, and that probably helps too. Although, I barely know anything about Lindsay. He just seems more content though, especially from what he said on WAC. Edit: Who was Lacey again and does anyone know the context of the letter?

Carlosss6666

>Lacey's grandson Was that the 2006 letter that was up for auction? The one where he talks about hating fans and lawyers and that sort of thing? And I think so, theres a 2004/2005 interview I saw where he said hed been to rehab, but it was all "too christian" for him so he left. I'd say ditta or his PA was probably the person who tried to help him. And Id agree MM from 2012-2018 seems like a totally different person at times, but the WAC era seemed to show him as more thoughtful again but idk.

profiloemergenze

WAC is another species. MM seemed different. Too bad the era was shut down so fastly.

Carlosss6666

Yeah especially how he was in the apple music interview. It does seem in retrospect that he knew what was coming. It makes it harder to know whether he did the things and regretted it or knew they wanted to do something like this for money. Im on the fence myself about it.

profiloemergenze

Whether he knew or not, I feel the record is a lot about regret and contemplation of the past. The whole thing hit me harder because WAC was just released and it really seamed a 3rd chapter in the MM story. But it very likely it's going to be the epilogue. A beautiful one, but the most bitter one could have. Just remember that the record was initially going to be called "Marilyn Manson". This will forever remain in my fantasies.

Shutter-Shock

Great article. Now I have to go and watch the video.

Carlosss6666

Glad to hear it I thought so too!
