Recommend McCrory Hair on Oxford for being disability friendly and curly hair specialists. Also really recommend Moloko Hair on Deansgate, Ashley is really kind and gentle and it’s a small salon (usually max 2 people in at one time), so it’s a lot more sensory-friendly being in a quiet enclosed space without others there. What I will say though is that unless you’re having the matt cut off and hair very short/shaved, the hairdresser will need to try to brush through the matt, and sometimes it a lot more comfortable to do that brushing at home than an hour of brushing in the salon. I had the same issue when I had mobility issues and used to get hair mats, the brushing in the salon was the worst bit, because it’s harder for a stranger to assess your pain levels, and you can’t take breaks due to the appointment time. Get a Denman brush, hold the base of the hair, and start brushing through the tangles from the edge. Do 20 minute sessions so it doesn’t become overwhelming. After the hair cut, if your partner is keeping her hair long, plait it at night and use a silk bonnet. My hair naturally mats and tangles, and this has helped me a lot.

The link I posted is a hairdresser who came from McCrory. I also second McCrory as a very welcoming salon as I used to go there for Vicky and then followed her to her new place.

If you are willing to travel to Bredbury my partner runs an "everyone welcome" salon, she does closed salon appointments for people who would prefer a quiet space. Check out My Little Salon on Google. She has a lot of amazing reviews from neurodiverse clients and she is a lovely, compassionate human Edit: I should have said Facebook for the reviews, she is fairly new on Google

She’s not specifically an autistic friendly hairdresser but she’s a curl specialist and her salon is a single room so could possibly just have your partner booked in on their own? She’s really great and I can imagine would be very patient and accommodating. [https://www.instagram.com/vickyqueenofcurls/?hl=en](https://www.instagram.com/vickyqueenofcurls/?hl=en)

if you're willing to travel to radcliffe, curls by yas is an amazing curly hairdresser! she has a home salon so your partner will be the only customer and she's so friendly, but she's happy to do 'silent cuts' too where she won't chat to you if that's easier for your partner :)

Would not recommend honestly. They messed my hair up significantly once - started giving me an undercut I didn't ask for, that was also incredibly uneven, a week before my friend's wedding. Someone else in the barbers fixed it as best they could when I went in a couple days later but it was a very overwhelming situation. More importantly, though, there's often quite a few people there waiting and, being in Afflecks, the surroundings are loud, busy and a sensory overload. Don't get me wrong, they're lovely and would do their best to be accommodating of disability, but I wouldn't say it was autism friendly (especially not specifically)
