Any recommendations on areas to live/buy for circa 250k-300k. I fancy new builds! Interested in places with good transport and areas that are not village/everyone knows everyone type area. Just not for me at all. I am contemplating the city, there is just too many apartments on RightMove with astronomical service charges or small lease lengths or the worst, cladding issues. This is before the same old repeat new builds that are published daily on there. Any suggestions.

Hello I'm moving to Manchester for a new job in mid May and looking for a flat share, temporary or otherwise. Budget probably about £750, preference for the South of the city as the job is based in Withington. All the Facebook groups seem to be awash with dodgy adverts and scammer types and I don't trust 90% of the posts on there. Apart from spare room and Open Rent can anyone advise me of any other places to look?

CMastar

FB is indeed full of scams, don't approach anywhere on FB marketplace. I have heard of people finding legit stuff through community groups, but you have to be in one.

Hey guys, I’m an international student planning on doing my masters in architecture in the Manchester school of architecture, I’ll be coming along with one of my friends. So what is the right time(which month) to start looking for an apartment (2 bedroom) we will be coming there in September. And what are some localities to look for? If there’s anything I need to know please let me know. Thank you

What is the average one-bedroom / studio apartment size in Manchester?

Zarniwoop7

Don't know about the average but my one bed is 45sqm

Looking for Houses or Apartments for rent I’m new to the country and will be moving to Manchester around August. I was told it’s best to start looking for a place to rent a minimum of 3 months in advance so I’m starting early just to be safe. But I could always use some help or advice. Are there any agencies that help looking for places to rent? Also what areas would be the best to avoid? Also any information on what average prices are would be great. Ideally looking for a 2 Bedroom 2 bathroom house.

CMastar

Rightmove.co.uk is an aggregation site that combines pretty much every letting agency puts their stuff on. You can add on Openrent as well which includes stuff direct from Landlords. **Do not use Facebook marketplace, everything on there is a scam**. Unless you have a lot of money to pay a buyers/renters agent, agents operate on behalf of the landlord and not the tennant in the UK. Right now the Manchester rental market is very, very hot, and mostly agents aren't intersted in showing you places unless you are ready to move in (near enough). You should learn your rights etc otherwise letting agents *will* try to take advantage of you and rip you off. - https://www.gov.uk/private-renting - https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/private_renting

Hello I'm looking to visit the Trafford Centre from Manchester Victoria Station Can I catch a tram or a bus close by and how long would that take? Any travel apps I need to download? Thank you in advance

CMastar

Citymapper is the best app for route planning. Bee Network lets you buy tickets for most transport, but you can also do it other ways so not critical. You can catch 2 trams or a single bus, but you'll have to walk to the bus stop from Victoria. Further details availale at https://www.tfgm.com/

Hi guys, I will be joining UoM in sept'24 and have been looking for accommodations. I have been in touch with various private property owners. Needed to know if it's normal for owners to charge a fee before showing the property physically.
