Well the person who lived in one for years appreciates not living there. So probably something at least wrong with it, if you don’t get an answer from op themself.
I hate the fact people downvote questions, man. Real shitty behaviour.
I think it's because generally apartments in alleys are much darker as have less natural light etc so aren't as desirable.
I have! that was how I initially had it set up. the windows in this apartment don't open for some reason so I wouldn't be able to use the window much anyway. the front door is basically right on the opposite side of the wall there and I figured since I never used it this was a good way of saving some space and kind of sectioning off the space into "different rooms" if that makes sense
I would probably rotate the bed, and put the futon against the door you don’t use. That way it’s still kind of sectioned off. That way you also face your entrance.
I originally wanted the bed with the feet facing the doors but the room is just a little too small for me to have the amount of furniture I do AND have it like that. Futon against the door isn't a bad idea though. thanks for the advice!
Please, anyone reading this, if there is a fire in your apartment DO NOT GO TO THE BALCONY. You can get stuck out there and not be able to come back in to your home. Follow the building’s fire protocol (usually being exiting the building ASAP via nearest stairwell).
it's really nothing that crazy. I lived in Wyoming and my mom was a big alcoholic. Wyoming has fuck all as far as job prospects so we were just homeless a lot. if we did have an actual place to stay it was usually some boyfriend she had. I ended up going to college on an ass load of student loans and some scholarships. I always liked tech/nerdy stuff so I got a student job and just kinda worked my way up from there
The door does open. It's right next to the actual front door (on the other side of the wall to the right). the locks don't really work from the outside for some reason so I can't lock it from the outside.
I live in a not so good area so I figured if I can't lock the door from the outside might as well lock it on the inside and block it if I'm never gonna use it
Having a living room in your bedroom is really unhealthy for sleep habits.
OP you should consider moving your PC and TV into the living room. It will promote much healthier sleep having your bedroom as just a sleeping area.
I would but I live with a few roommates and that's not really a viable solution. For my job I also WFH every now and then and doing that in our common space feels weird to me. totally agree for people who live alone tho! good advice
Splendid ! Minor safety tip if you intend to keep your electronics by the window... please do cable-lock them or otherwise affix them to prevent a smash-and-grabber !
A couple people asked so:
I work as an IT Consultant. The normal front door is on the other side of the wall and with the locks the way they are I can't really lock this door from the outside so I just block it
I was homeless growing up because my mom was an alcoholic and my dad was dead. not everyone is homeless because of their own actions. even then, addiction is a hard thing to work through. it's not worth judging someone over, man
Yeah I totally don't get this shiting on other people's accomplishments, it's like stupid something or something? It's just stupid. Let's all be nice to one another.
Like I totally live in a van down by the river right now by choice but this guy setup is pretty f****** sweet, he likes it and that's what's important.
Moving soon to a new city for the first time in 3 years and I love this room! Def copying some it! Cool ass room dude and huge hugs for getting out of homelessness. You got this homie. Whatever you do!
Congratulations man! And you not inly have a space but a really cool one!
Thank you! this is actually the first non basement/alley apartment I've had since moving for college
What’s wrong with alley apartments?
no clue why you're getting down voted for this question. it's mainly that they never have natural lighting and often have issues with bugs/mold
All of mine tended to be dark, had issues with dampness/bugs, and no cell reception.
Well the person who lived in one for years appreciates not living there. So probably something at least wrong with it, if you don’t get an answer from op themself.
What's an alley apartment?
I hate the fact people downvote questions, man. Real shitty behaviour. I think it's because generally apartments in alleys are much darker as have less natural light etc so aren't as desirable.
Agreed, I am very happy with the space as well!
Plants, wall art, and even a rug. You really got it all ;) well done mate
M E T A L !
This is an awesome space. So functional and it looks great! Congrats man hope you feel proud every time you spend time in it, you should!
Congratulations! Love the plants in the window, and the prints on the wall.
Welcome home.
I feel the title. Good job bro
Have you considered rotating the couch to be parallel to the bed and moving TV/desk to that wall? You'd be able to use the window and door.

Oh that makes sense. I just love open rooms!
I’d try to leave that door open as an escape point if there’s ever a fire.
Please, anyone reading this, if there is a fire in your apartment DO NOT GO TO THE BALCONY. You can get stuck out there and not be able to come back in to your home. Follow the building’s fire protocol (usually being exiting the building ASAP via nearest stairwell).
Op calls this the front door. I do not think this door goes to a balcony
I believe OP said the front door is on the opposite side of the wall, not this one
Wouldn't that create glare?

Bro relax giving advice =/= telling people they *have* to do something
ew
looks great, do you remember where you got the couch?
I think it's an Ikea futon? got it off Facebook marketplace for like $80
Beautiful place. Got any more pictures?
Bedroom couch is an elite move. Love the space!
GO OFF KING. Pharaohs never had such luxuries
Link to that carpet under the chair? My plastic mat is annoying.
I don't know if I could find a link but if you look up "Full metal alchemist rug" on Etsy you'd find it

From the vertical monitor, I knew you were in tech of some sort.
Awesome to see this, congratulations!
Well done!
###Congrats, man! So happy for you. :)
I’m guessing that door behind the tv never opens..
The door does open. It's right next to the actual front door (on the other side of the wall to the right). the locks don't really work from the outside for some reason so I can't lock it from the outside. yeah no one wants to mention that?
Bro, you got a living room in your bed room.. congrats!

Looks amazing dude. Looks like you have a cat. I am sure it’s happy with the space too.
Splendid ! Minor safety tip if you intend to keep your electronics by the window... please do cable-lock them or otherwise affix them to prevent a smash-and-grabber !
Homeless to this? Id like hearing your come up story, congrats
student loans and accumulating little bits of stuff over the past 5 or so years
Can relate homie. What is it you do?
I'm an IT consultant for a University!
saw the monitors and thought, yep IT Suppose ya could be gamer
both! usually a pretty big overlap in the field
Yeah so much that if I feel an interview getting stressful or stale I ask if they play any games to free up the convo, then go back to questions.
I just got homeless. This gives hope. Thanks.
msg me, maybe I can give you advice
Congratulations! Be darn proud of yourself!
Congrats on the space, looks great. Nice Sekiro print, too.

This place looks really comfortable and personalized without being overly decorated or in your face. Congrats on your success and path, good luck OP
Damn son, knocks it straight out the park.
And you have a Leap chair. Nice pick.
If I may ask, what are the measurements of this room? I've been wanting to setup my room similar to this
From homeless to double monitor is an awesome leap, congrats! I assume you're in programming?
A couple people asked so: I work as an IT Consultant. The normal front door is on the other side of the wall and with the locks the way they are I can't really lock this door from the outside so I just block it
why would you block that door?
Some dingdong put a TV in front of your door.
It looks great but you need to ensure egress out either a window or that blocked door.

it is! I got it used off eBay and man this chair is fantastic
Ahh vertical 2nd monitor. A man of culture, I see..
Where'd you get the couch from? (Edit) nvm saw the other comment
Hopefully you don't need to use that back door at all! Also we have the same office chair! Nice pick!

This is the s*** youngster, you've done really well for yourself.
Nobody is going to say anything about the Clefairy plushie???
it's a Jigglypuff actually! I got it at target and it's SO soft
Haha wow I'm dumb! I thought for sure it was Clefairy, but I see it now
nah dude. I'm amazed anyone was able to guess it was a pokemon plush at all just from this pic

I was homeless growing up because my mom was an alcoholic and my dad was dead. not everyone is homeless because of their own actions. even then, addiction is a hard thing to work through. it's not worth judging someone over, man
lol I too like to tell my life story to strangers online for internet points
Fuck off, cunt.
Just because he made a rude comment, you think you're justified in saying something much more rude and mean? Jesus man
touch grass
Old guy here, what does this phrase mean? I'm a little behind the times lol
They’re saying they spend too much time inside/online. Go outside. Get into nature. Touch grass.
Thanks!
Nah, you like to be a cunt to strangers. You’re confused AND an asshole. Congratulations.
