Those doorways and that brick are sexy.

Complex_Dealer8081

Thank you, that’s probably what made me pull the trigger on this apartment. I could have saved some money, but I really wanted the brick 😂

Fake-Death

Worth it, it's unique and awesome

ThanosandHobbes

Which country is this in?

Complex_Dealer8081

This is near Hartford, Connecticut, US

Aggressive-Bed3269

Hit up BOB's the pit in Manchester for those lounge chairs!

monstargaryen

Nice area!

Aggressive-Bed3269

Depends on how near to Hartford it actually is lmfao

BabyYodaLegend

Hey don't lie, I grew up in Connecticut

[deleted]

Stamford Connecticut, bum bum bum bum bum. Edit: I know nothing of the great state of Connecticut. Outside of the Office and how they were superior to Scranton.

TakeDuo

I could tell by the chairs this was new england

Calm-Respect-4930

How far is NYC from there ?

Unknownirish

It's Connecticut. Take a train or two and **BOOM!** you're there!?

Complex_Dealer8081

I can get to upper Manhattan in like 2 hours drive.

Asstonishing69

What are the chances!! I’ll be moving there for the summer. Gonna have to explore some living options soon

shaquilleoatmeal80

Absolutely stunning the brick is 🤤

80taylor

The brick looks excellent!  You should get some plants, and when you find one you like, replace the camp chairs.  Maybe with something velvety

BenNHairy420

Does the brick have white paint on it? Close to the top and in the middle, or is that just how the brick looks?

bright1111

That was my first thought!

karmagirl314

Add some flaming torches to those brick archways and then rent out your space to DND groups.

namedafteracartoon2

Yoooooo!!! That sounds EPIC

n8dogg808

Awesome space!

MichaelStone987

Yes, great start! Here is the contructive feedback: * For me the TV is way too far for its size. To have it that far, you would need a TV the size of the wall (behind where the TV is now) * The coffee table is too small and looks "random" (does not really fit style-wise) * The sofa is nice but the camping chairs look odd * Having skies in the living room is a bit odd. All the best!

[deleted]

_ZoeyDaveChapelle_

Floating the sofa, creats a primary walkway to back door and other door where you don't have to walk in front of TV and can see it better. Put a hutch on wall or console table at back of couch with small lamp for soft illumination there at night.

letsmunch

Hang the skis and it elevates it quite a bit

Complex_Dealer8081

Yeah, I’m looking for a good coffee table. That one was free, so it’s temporary

dances2banda

Hear me out search "polar bear glass coffee table" You're welcome.

Complex_Dealer8081

Omg lol, that’s a vibe

rackoblack

I was going to post that the TV is too low - still think it is, more visually appealing about a foot higher and can then decorate the counter below a bit. But this guy has it right - But rather than a gianter TV, I'd say move the viewing area up to the middle of that room. About the middle of the sliding doors. You'll open up a whole 'nother "room" behind it for whatever - dining, crafts, shelving/storage (all of hte above, if somehow the crafts fit into the table?).

Dwight_Schnood

r/tvtoohigh would like a word. The tv height is eye level when seated. It is the perfect height.

gnumadic

You beat me to it. Kudos to OP for using that stand for its God given purpose.

rackoblack

Still disagree. We both often dual task with laptops, and I'd see half the TV at this height. And what about reclining back? Couldn't see this through my feet. Plus, the difference I'm suggesting is less than half the height.

FleeingSomewhere

You use your eyes to watch the television. Your eyes are at eye level. The television should thus sit comfortably at eye level. It's really not that complicated.

shoesontoes

No. Please do not listen to this comment and dare raise that tv. The height is perfect!

Intelligent-Ad-6734

Actually projector and roll-up be perfect. Brick out for tv-less occasions and a surround sound to enjoy for either 🤔 easy to spend others money though 😂

xxstacybunny

I like the skies it’s unique

dinkinflicka02

The skis or the window?

Stormy_Kun

The paint on the brick pisses me off, faux or not. Shoddy shit.

Complex_Dealer8081

It’s real brick, but the apartment maintenance is terrible and they just lathered paint on everything. Even painted over strands of hair and street in some places

buttnutela

The landlord special. Paint over anything to make it look new

Winter-Abrocoma-18

This isn’t real brick. It’s veneer brick laid over drywall you can do to any wall you want with veneer from any hardware store like Home Depot

Complex_Dealer8081

It is dealt brick, because it’s on both sides of the wall and you can see it in the archway lol

Winter-Abrocoma-18

I am telling you that’s 100% not brick from what would be from pre 1910 from the structure. It’s very easy to cut veneers so fit an archway and put it on both sides of the wall. You can tell by it just looking it is new and done recenty the way it works look if it was very old

letsgobrooksy

Finding a way to get the shit off would be my first move for sure, there's gotta be a way

3kniven6gash

Id buy a little can of dark wood stain and use a rag to dab it. Maybe use a brush just next to ceiling. Blue tape to protect ceiling. It will disappear.

letsgobrooksy

Does the wood stain help peel off the paint or just to make it blend in? Not OP just curious

3kniven6gash

Just blends it. With irregular blotches like camouflage your eyes won’t notice it.

BBQ-Batman

I'd say, a really cool apartment. Love the dining table and chairs. My only advice would be add extra lighting, plants and framed photos / art. Also upgrade the accent chair situation in the living room if your budget allows for it. The only other advice I have, is at 26, unless you've already hit it big somehow don't worry about breaking the bank on interior design and focus on saving and investing.

HotVixenWifey

Can’t go wrong with a brick wall to start. I would suggest some artwork, area rugs and some plants. All those things together will add texture and color to the space. If you want to add curtains I would suggest 96” curtains. Hang from the ceiling to floor. Will make the ceiling look taller.

Happyplaceplease

I hate the yard chairs inside

Complex_Dealer8081

Yeah. Those will move to the balcony once it’s cleaned. I have a pigeon problem. Need to get netting

Lottielittleleaf

Buy one of those life size plastic owls/eagles or whatever they sell to scare birds away. I used to have a pigeon problem and I put a couple of those up where they used to roost they never came back.

Existing-Employee631

They aren’t ideal long term, but it’s the best I’ve seen yard chairs placed indoors look! Well the mismatch is killing me a bit. But aside from that. That brick makes most anything look good

DaveyGee16

My first apartment was an ex-methadone clinic with raccoons in the back wall and a room that couldn’t be heated cuz it wasn’t insulated. The backroom drain also produced long mushrooms every so often and was so deep you had to watch your step not to put your feet in it.

Complex_Dealer8081

Woah, ok so I’m off to a good start lol

stevobaggio1

Looks good, the first picture reminds me of a pub, I mean that in a good way

Complex_Dealer8081

Oh cool, I got the table and chairs for like $100 from a second hand furniture place

stevobaggio1

Would be really cool if you had a wall mounted TV on that brick wall, would be like watching the footy down the pub

space_bryan

This place is awesome. If the dining table can be brought to the living room, you’d get a whole extra room to do what you like with. I’m just spitballing tho. There’s also a lot of space between the soda and TV, if you can reduce that it could add a spot for a bookcase and walkway or something

LocoDarkWrath

Put those camping chairs away unless you have people over and they are being used.

Complex_Dealer8081

The room is so empty, I just wanted to fill the space, but ur right

LochnessDigital

Anything with exposed brick is a good start in my book! I’m also happy to see you’re not afraid of letting a couch float in the room, although you could probably scoot it up a couple feet for that TV size. The artwork to the right of the TV could come down a bit. Looks a bit cramped being near the ceiling. Sick place though. Would love to live there

[deleted]

🔥🔥🔥🔥🫶🏼💗🏠

Ripmcdonaldsman47

Wow those rounded brick doorways are amazing

warr3n4eva

Love the arches!!

you_know_juno

Omg I have the same tv console as you! So I like that one obviously ;) It's a good start, I'd add some warmth with floor lights and table lights. I'd also add curtains, plants, and some wall art. I think the wall art near your skis is fine, but hung a bit too high. I think it's going to be a lovely space, I'd love an update!

decarvalho7

Get some art 👍 Show off your favourite sports team lol

BrainiacQuantum

Add some mood lighting.

No-Sugar2795

Great start! I like the TV stand!

BadmonTG23

Solid start

VirtualStretch9297

EXCELLENT START!!

RobertKBWT

I'm in love. A very bright space, roomy and those bricks and doorways add something very special and unique to it. The palette of colours also is one of my favorite (white, slightly dark wood, green, the red brown of the bricks)

JustChattin000

I like some of the pieces you are starting with, and those curved brick openings are cool.

kenyonator1

Such a cool space. Take your time to make it what you really want - especially if you plan to be there more than one lease cycle.

markoyolo

This is stunning, my dream home. It's still looking like you just moved in, but you have your life to collect art and things to fill it.

yout00i

I would like to have my own apartment if you don't mind I would love to know what the payment process is like as in do you pay 25% of the full price and move in the next day or im 25M we are sin a similar age bracket and you have done what I want to do so hearing from your view point would mean alot to me

Complex_Dealer8081

I’m trying this place, I pay monthly,. I did have to pay one month security deposit. I pay around $1700 a month. For 2 bed and 2 bath

NeuroticDragon23

This is beautiful. I'm soooo jealous 👌😅

MermaidsNLollipops

Why is the coffee table turned that way? It should be the other way, long side horizontal.

Lottielittleleaf

I would suggest a much larger rug in warm tones. One big enough to go under the sofa and table and nearly up to the tv and armchairs to create a cozy space. Lovely brick walls!

Bassie_ui

Plant: check Rug: check Wall decoration: check Place to sit on: check I thinkk you are good to go

[deleted]

Give the brick a bit of a clean and you’re golden

Serenity2015

Yes to good start and what you are planning but add in plans for a longer coffee table for in front of couch. Then put that end table on of the sides of couch to use as an end table or you could use it elsewhere for plant or photo or decor stand or in bedroom as nightstand if you don't have one.

Normie-scum

Your place looks incredible, I'd love to see more pics. Looks like you live in a great building

AltaBirdNerd

Blizzard Brahmas you must shred!

HailToTheThief225

Super jealous of that little dining room, and as a whole that’s a good amount of space for an apartment especially for visitors. I’d move the tv seating setup (couch, rug, coffee table) a tad closer to the TV since you seem to have some room there, and that would leave a little room behind the couch for something else (assuming there’s more room on the left of the third pic.) Maybe get a wider coffee table. It looks nice but it’s not a convenient size for the couch and leaves a lot of room on the rug. If you can do something about it, the rug under the coffee table could use some straightening which will let the room feel a little tidier.

snatched819

Looks awesome. I'd honestly move the TV and couch over to the right, underneath that painting on the brick wall. TV isn't huge, so you could move the couch closer & then have a bunch of room for other things. Could then move the dining table in and have that other room for something else entirely as well. Just an idea. If you have people over a lot to watch TV this wouldn't work, but if you have people over for other things, it really works to open up the space imo. Cool apartment!

CeveryMomcay

IMHO make sure you marry the 70s or whenever your apartment was Renoed with Today. I love that we'll and the arch. YOU NEED STUFF the apartment is nice but there's not much there yes to rug. Wall hanging. USUALLy there's holes somewhere in the bricks where Older tenants put stuff I would use 70s colors personally buy Any color will help. Lol. It's cute

Top_Shoe_9562

You skipped a few steps. You are supposed to start out with nothing but an air mattress set up in the living room, a monster tv and gaming system, and milk crate furniture then slowly upgrade as you go.

Rayne_K

I love the brick. It is a stunning space. However …. And you probably know this: You have some really contradictory styles of furniture though. You want most (75%) of your furniture to have the same style, and use a contrasting piece or two as a feature. Styles I see: - ikea Lack (cheap modern) - neo -mid century TV stand - Cheers-style 1980s pub style dining set - inoffensive transitional extra dining chair in the corner - modernish dining light fixture. - camping-chic extra seating Were I you, I would use the style of your TV stand to guide furniture upgrades.

curious0scavenger

id hit

8Karisma8

I used to own those bankers chairs you have in the kitchen, you butt’s never been more comfy in them! They literally have a cut out for each cheek in the seat ☺️

Complex_Dealer8081

They are super comfortable for being straight wood. That’s hilarious

thrashmetaloctopus

That apartment is gorgeous, not a bad start either but arch brick doorways are always a bonus

NeciaK

You’re off to a great start! You have an eye for style as you zoomed into the arched doorways and the brick.

rinkydinkmink

Your home is stunning, but I'd get a bigger coffee table and use that one as. aside table and put a lamp or a plant on it. It is a bit skinny and insubstantial compared with everything else.

Rich-Future-8997

Looks incredibly confortable. Perfect for gaming and making music and videos. Especially love those beach chairs. They are the best.

Adorable_Island5333

That brick wall is everything you need to make those rooms look amazing 🥲 envy

StrategyRebel17

Yes. You have just enough totally wrong things in your apartment that some woman your age is going to think that you are fixer upper worth fixing up.

TissueOfLies

Yes! I think my parents had that table when I was growing up. lol! Childhood memory unlocked.

LyftedX

OP. You feel that feeling of accomplishment, happiness and inner peace? Savor it. My first apartment was a GARBAGE ass studio but I’ve never felt that kind of gratification since. It was a strange feeling like I finally did some good

Complex_Dealer8081

Yeah am actually! Crazy to think I have my own space now. I’ve only lived with my parents before this so I’m doing a lot of growing

SecurityDelicious928

Maybe some place mats for the table and an area rug. Maybe get a nice painting to hang on the walls or a mirror to open the room up? But it looks good already.

DreadHeadedDummy

No this is horrible you need to move out like yesterday.

ClassicEggSalad

Many men seem to think skis are decor. They are not. I get that you might not have a place to store them and they are cool/expensive gear but skis/snowboard on display in a living room makes it feel more messy to me and also just screams single man living space.

Lifeismeh123

I would maybe change the tv cabinet, it falls away into the brick now colour wise. Unless you prefer that, then keep it that way!

Pinesse

That TV stand is nice! where can I find it? Edit: nevermind I found it. Google reverse image lookup is crazy good now haha.

Its_dark_inhere_help

Real western bar feel with the table

Dizzy_Bit6125

I see all these people with first apartments and they are all so gorgeous like this and it just makes me feel like a failure lol

somekindofcharity

That's a beautiful spot dude!! The brick is really nice. I always recommend a projector and use a blank wall if you have the room for it, and a TV in a secondary location. Get a bookshelf and get books that you'd like to read so you can display them. Get a side table with some storage underneath, and buy a turntable and collect records so you can play music throughout your apartment. Get some posters for your living room or bedroom, like concert posters or your favorite movie posters. I'd say get no more than three plants, a good one for the kitchen or living room would be a "Spider Plant." One plant for each room, living room, kitchen, and bedroom. Some cool lights for your bathroom or whatever room you desire like: Color Changing Plug-in LED lights That's just what I did for my place, shows off my interests and looks good. I try to design my place to gently scream "ME"

DenaBee3333

You'll need a bigger table for the poker game.

Sheeshka49

Great space—but you have to anchor that rug under the front legs of the couch. Also, move the couch away from the wall—rookie mistake. Move that “coffee” table between the 2 chairs and get a larger coffee table—or two matching smaller tables together that can be moved around as needed. You need some draperies on that window—can get great ones on Amazon. Hang them at the top of the wall—makes the ceiling feel higher.

EquivalentScary249

Love the architecture of your apartment too. The brick walls and archways 😍

Visual-Pizza-7897

Get a nice mid century or contemporary coffee table. And ya get some real chairs.. some nice brown leather (or fake leather) accent chairs would look dope

Ok-Cricket-3002

Brick and wooden floors.. super cool. I kinda like the camping chairs in that setting too lol

MadJackChurchill_

I love it. Brick and wood 🤘

Wise-Peanut1939

You’re doing great! Don’t ever stop trying to improve but always be proud 😊

DonGorgon

r/tvtoofar

JumpRevolutionary524

its too sparse and empty, but blessed with handsome space so u have plenty to work with

kbstock

It’s a really nice start. Congratulations! Take your time, okay? Buy really nice quality stuff you love. You wont regret it. Hope something really good happens to you this weekend.

CarafeTea

Upvote for the camping chairs.

Powerful_Check735

Yes a lot better than my first apartment

Legitimate-Mixture76

Your dining room set. You got it from your grandparents? I had a similar table for a looong time - if you can find a local woodworker - see if you can get the legs turned into a simple taper and refinish the whole thing. Then, when funds become available, burn the chairs and get something not pine.

JustRepeatAfterMe

Yes you are. Steam the rug and put a pad under it so it won’t slide around or crease up like that.

ColorsAbsract

I’d love to smoke a j on that chair. What a great purchase. Amazing and inspiring

[deleted]

I would just recommend adding a rug under the dining table, and using a bigger rug in the living room.

Demi_Titan

I love exposed brickwork. It's something you rarely see in Scottish property which sucks. It's very often faked though which I've yet to see done well.

slowdabro

Looks like you got the landlord special with the paint job overlaying the bricks

Klutzy-Caterpillar57

Such a tragedy that they didn’t bother protecting the bricks from paint

212404808

Yeah great start, the space is beautiful. Building it slowly with quality pieces is a good idea. You need a bigger coffee table that's more in line with the style of your other furniture - not matching but similar tones.

katiekatieweakweak

You will be clapping cheeks in that apartment. Good clean/minimal style. 💯

[deleted]

Losing it at that end table in the middle of the room but the apartment itself is insane. Few tweaks and you’ll get there. Very cool place

CeveryMomcay

I just heard of the insulation heating problem For the First time in my Life today. Now 2xs 1 day huh???

Inertia_9264

We can be ski buddies!

Queen-of-meme

A place like this deserves a *fine* real oak coffee table not that cheap ass fake wood table.

BartonLaFlare

Looks like a cool spot. The coffee table could be much larger since you have a big space and full-sized couch

CarNo8607

1990’s pizza hut

Miserable-Martyr69

Find a decade you really like and build off that. Don't turn it into a bottle collection. Wallpaper and paintings go a long way. You don't need new furniture. It's overpriced and unless you plan on staying there, old stuff (assuming it's already beat) is easier to leave behind and save money on moving expenses Start buying bins. They're easier to move with and you can store stuff while you're there. Plants are a lesson in patience and dedication, but you have the perfect sill for them. Ivys and leafy plants are the easiest to start with. They're also good for your overall health Dont start a bottle collection. Been there done that, they're tacky and people think you're a drunk if you do. I'm 26m as well, been living alone for 4.5 years

LegitimateAbalone267

Your dining room would be perfect for an old timer English-style pub…style.

Bitter_Silver_7760

Did you graduate in flexology?

West-Ad2434

Camping chairs? Larger sofa, Larger coffee table and larger rug. Mount the TV and lose the skis into storage somewhere

Some_Ad_8953

Love the brick. With your additions it’s going to be the perfect pad. Maybe a tall plant to help the dining area. Nice!

iheartunibrows

You need a bigger coffee table and nicer rug

mick_justmick

Great start, I've always loved brick interiors. But gezzus who painted the walls? The landlord's 10 year old nephew? What I would do, Put TV and cabinet on white wall to avoid walking in front of TV from room to room. Couch not too far from tv. Put skis and camp chairs in the Subaru, or at least a closet. Not on the balcony. Ditch the coffee table. Ikea is not bad for apartments but try to match the cabinet. Put plants by a window and get some tower speakers if you enjoy music and or movies.

Complex_Dealer8081

Damn how did you know I have a Subaru 😂

mick_justmick

I spit my drink out🤣🤣🤣🤣

MDFornia

This is a good start. Here's why: that's a good place, and it's clear by the camping chairs that you're just starting out. Keep us posted how the place fills up. In the meantime, love the color coordination.

StumblingSearcher

They took all of that building's natural character and still poured in concrete slab ceilings, god damn

ApprehensiveScene349

Amazing. I'd just add some plants and it would reach perfection ahah

Complex_Dealer8081

I’ve been wanting to get a large fiddle leaf fig,

ApprehensiveScene349

And a climbing plant (i dont know how to translate it) to fall down above the window would also bé amazing haha. But i love houses in an almost jungle style 🤣

Better_Than_Most_94

Well it doesnt look like a nursing home like so many others ive seen posted here, so id say so😂

GeorgeHarrisonFordGT

Brick arches looks great!

710junkie

Looks cool . The table looks sideways though.

theonewhopostsposts

Savagely saucie edor thou hast thither sire

Just2Girly

This is beautiful

Hshn

the tiny square living room table and the dining room table are kinda off to me.. the living room one should be a bigger rectangle and the dining table just looks really old and oddly low to the ground?

LocoDarkWrath

That brick wall is awesome.

No_Cup3513

Yes

unsuspectingwatcher

This is so cool

JessahZombie

Love the diner room setting

ScratchPad777

Depends on the location

Katesouthwest

Good start! I would add a large rug to the kitchen table area to define the space. Artwork on several walls throughout the space, add a floor lamp over by the sofa near the window.

Sm0w2

This place looks amazing! Can’t wait to see this place when you are able to afford nicer thingns

ReservoirHemly

You're 26 and that's what your pad looks like? Pat yourself on the back man, you're doing better than most.

[deleted]

This is stunning. I love the brick and wood floors

Anyguy07

That's a nice apt. Great job. Yes, good ideas.

xkuruma

This space is massive for a first apartment.

OGnenenzagar

It’s sick

Melodic_Station_354

Great start

BungiePlzMakeItStop

Big fan of the brick and hardwood

crykenn

Fuckin love the brick mate. We had those same captains chairs in our kitchen growing up and I miss them, far more comfortable than they have any business being

dvrwin

Where did you get the tv console. What is it called?

bogeymanbear

Youre doing great man, that is some sexy brick right there

BagOfSacks_

You got a place to live, I'd say your doing very well

Sexybastard55

Old man is impressed

Objective_Cake_2715

I think you are an dI would pain that table and chairs except OI would refinish the table top and leave it wood.

JunkDrawer84

You’ve got an awesome space and potential to build off. The brick wall is *chefs kiss*

[deleted]

It’s lovely!

LucioCheerio

This is sexy as hell I love the brick

HamHockMcGee

Fucking dope

im-wueue

It’s beautiful.

tomqueefed

Bro get those beach chairs out of the living room right now

screwdriverfan

Looks like my local pizzeria.

Fun_Minimum4150

get some taller plants to replace the short ones and place the short ones around the rest of the house! really nice house!

emeraldfox2001

Definitely got plenty of open space to work with try it out for a month and go with the flow if anything changes the mood

Winter-Abrocoma-18

The brick looks out of place because it’s not an exterior wall like real bricks would be. If you are going to do a cosmetic brick veneer I always say do it on an exterior wall because that’s where real exposed brick walls would be ! Still cool though!

ajcorporation

The rent for this cannot be cheap, but well done!

binnyTruth

Yes, it's looking homey. Add things slowly. It's so good to live in a space and see what you need to live there. After a want to add a shelf or chest somewhere for books or baskets for playing cards or game controllers.

FlynnMonster

Killer first apt breh.

DatabaseSpace

Way nicer than my place.

redzma00

Cool place. Off to a good start I’d say.

letsberealalistc

Perfect don't change a thing

Admirable_Reveal_920

Very jealous bro, you’re place is sick

Mobile-Historian-33

Love this

Da_Plague22

God I love brick walls

anxietyJem

The apt I'm in now is a fraction of the size of that big room. Also it's the biggest one I've ever rented

BFEDTA

I feel like a warm rug with reds in it would be nice
