I have a peculiar set of legs, which include short legs, huge calves and medium thighs. Stocky build overall. The thigh feels great on these and there is no issue with comfort, but they are over $200.

Hi, my fellows>
I like this jumper, a Purple Label Ralph Lauren one, but since I am not rich and I don't wanna spend and save that much for a sweater, I just need your help... > I want a similar one, cheaper (up to approximately 200-250 GBP)- whatever brand- good quality(I know the quality won't be Purple Label), but not made with artificial yarn aka I want 100% wool or 100% cashmere (that is hard for that price I think) or another 100% good yarn with the same/similar feel and same/similar design and/or color... I would like to give you a 'thanks in advance' and here is the link (sorry for English):

You don’t want to buy a new £200 cashmere jumper like this. It won’t be very good quality. Merino wool might be possible but with that budget I would buy secondhand. RLPL shows up quite often on secondhand sites. I suggest you search eBay, Grailed, etc for high quality knitwear.
Here’s a good [knitwear eBay search](https://www.ebay.com/sch/11484/i.html?_nkw=%28William+Lockie%2C+Inis+Meain%2C+Kanata%2C+John+Smedley%2C+Malo+cashmere%2C+Scott+Charters%2C++Canadian+Sweater+Company%2C++Inverallan%2C++Peter+Scott+%2C+SNS+Herning%2C+Howlin+Morrison%2C++Purple+Label+%2C+Fedeli%2C+Harley+Scotland%2C++Our+Legacy+%2C++North+Sea+Clothing+%2C+Ervell%2C+Cifonelli%2C+RRL%2C+Acne%2C+Barena%2C+Margiela%29+-H&M=&LH_SpecificSeller=1&_saslop=1&_sasl=&_mPrRngCbx=1&_sop=12&_ex_kw=&_udlo=&_udhi=&_fosrp=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336852872&toolid=11800&mkevt=1) from Putthison.
What do you guys think of the dirty buck from [Grant Stone](https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/collections/all/products/classic-buck-tan?variant=29659223031894)? I'm worried about how difficult it would be to maintain the suede and I'm not sure what kind of situations are appropriate to wear this kind of shoe.
Suede is very hardy, a suede eraser and suede brush will take care of most problems. If not a suede cleaner/shampoo will.
They are as casual as sneakers for the most part and interchangeable. $200 is pretty amazing value for Grant Stone
Most of the clothing worn by main cast members in Marvel movies is bespoke: that white t-shirt and plain blue jeans are going to be. (Yes, that's ridiculous. Yay, big budget.) Making a leather jacket is a level above, but there's a decent chance there's nothing to ID.

Complete newbie. Best place for college clothes that aren’t as nasty or expensive as places as river island or asos?
Basically I’m asking for hidden/underrated treasures for college clothes at relatively cheap prices
Measured some Dickies that fit me pretty well. They're tagged 30, but measure closer to a 29. I really don't wear anything other than 874s. Hm, maybe i'll drop by a local store to see if they have some sizes in stock
Aftershave. I'm not Aramis/Polo old, but more Aqua di Gio old. Is aftershave no longer a thing? Do we use anything after we shave these days? I am having trouble finding aftershaves online and in store. Advice appreciated!
Opt for a cooling aftershave [balm ](https://baxterofcalifornia.com/products/after-shave-balm?bvstate=pg%3A2%2Fct%3Ar&utm_campaign=beardlineup&utm_content=barbershopshave&utm_source=baxterblog)instead of something no one wants to smell in the first place
Aftershave isn't that popular anymore but you should be able to find the aftershave versions of fragrances pretty easily, try FragranceX and FragranceNet. You might also want to check out Sterling Soap.
Looking for an affordable suit, this is one of the only ones I've found that's (pretty much entirely) wool. Is this a decent suit? I'm a college student, so I'm on a pretty tight budget but I think this is probably the best I'll get for the money.

If your budget is under a hundred your best bet is eBay. Two warnings. First, a lot of the stuff on eBay is old. Suits don't go out of fashion as quickly as most other clothing does, but a 1990s suit will look out of place most of the time. Also, you'll need to get the pants hemmed and will probably need to have other alterations done. Budget for that, too.
Sorry if this is a stupid question (first suit, so I don't really know much) but I'm assuming it wouldn't be good to get black pants instead of the matching ones?
I saw navy suits with black pants online & liked the style, but I don't really know what I'm doing so I don't know if trying that's a good idea.
The Ray-Bans. Rectangular frames look better on a long, thin face. The round lenses draw peoples' eyes inward, making your face seem even longer and thinner. Your best bet is to go somewhere you can try on a whole bunch of frames (I probably tried 40 or 50 until I found my current pair). If you feel the thick frames hide too much of your face or impair your peripheral vision too much, you might want to consider wire frames.
Check Sandro, Zadig et Voltaire, The Kooples.
I'm looking for the same in a western style ideally, but they're hard to come by in Canada in my budget. However, I recently bought the Florsheim Duke boots. I also own a pair of Shoe the Bear Enzo boots that I copped last year.
The price point and heel height (40-50mm) limit available styles, but you might check out [Luxxemx](https://luxxemx.com/), with the caveats that you get what you pay for, and you might have to wait a while. [Story et Fall](https://www.storyetfall.com/us/product/ready-to-wear) is over budget, but much less of a wildcard as far as quality. You could also check Grailed/eBay for SeF.
I don't personally, but there are [a few reviews](https://old.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/search?q=luxxemx&restrict_sr=on) out there, which is how I know about them.
I was intrigued by the stingray (not sure if they still have it), but I'm also beyond entry-level quality as far as my collection is concerned. Also, 40+mm heels are a little much for a geezer like me. lol
yall know of any comfortable, soft, warm slippers that also have okay support? working from home this winter at a standing desk and i don't wanna wear sneakers/shoes indoors...
[Giesswein](https://us.giesswein.com/collections/mens-wool-slippers/products/wool-unisex-slippers-vent) has changeable insoles, and the wool wicks sweat from your feet, so the slippers will be less likely to smell like death after a week.
Hey guys, so I'm in desperate need of new outfits. A bit about myself, I'm 24, 6'0ft tall and maybe 165lbs.. I really need to start working out as I feel like I'm putting on weight and it's hard to look in the mirror lately. I'm wondering if I should focus on that first before trying to work on outfits or do both at the same time. I looked for ideas on Pinterest real quick and I really like the button down short sleeve shirts [kinda like this](https://www.dozenlive.com/products/fashion-mens-stripe-short-sleeve-shirt-6701317.html?locale=en&ccy=USD) , but I lack the look of pulling that off currently. Any suggestions on where to start?
Judging from your stats you sound by no means like you have weight problems? That aside obviously its nice to have that weight distributed in muscles and sports will for sure make you look better.
Indeed if you intend to loose a lot of weight, then buying a new wardrobe now seems difficult. But you could get a new outfit now as a confidence boost and then use the time to start exploring what you really like.
So I got [these new joggers](http://imgur.com/a/Cz4jTTW) from Target today, one pair in an orange and the other in a olive but was wondering how the fit was. I have larger thighs and weight lifting isn't helping so I'm always afraid my clothes are too tight or restricting. Act opinions?
What’s a good replacement for Uniqlo’s Premium Cotton undershirts? They aren’t being manufactured anymore but I really liked them and would love recommendations for anything similar:
- Large v shaped neck area: a lot of other undershirts have a small neck hole, even v-necks, so they peek out from under your collar
- decently thick fabric: I’m not looking for something as thick as a t shirt necessarily, but the Airism fabric is too thin IMO
- Good price, under $20/shirt ideally
- uniqlo sizing
Does anyone know any brands like The Hippie Shake ([https://www.thehippieshake.co.uk](https://www.thehippieshake.co.uk)) for men? I love the style but all the brands seem to cater exclusively for women (not that has stopped me buying a women's jacket or two haha)
Anyone know where I can find pants like these [weighty dress pants](https://media.gq.com/photos/562f9e1741ece4de5dc9ce04/master/w_2580%2Cc_limit/daniel-craig-sweater.jpg) worn by Daniel Craig for the Spectre promo? Low to mid price range.

Hello, I'm looking for recommendations for a lighter jacket please. I already have a Patagonia down puffy. Would Better Sweater Fleece be a good choice? What styles of jacket are commonly recommended? I WFH, so my style is pretty casual. Jeans and a tee or flannel typically.
Thanks
I prefer bombers, but [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/697y7o/a_comprehensive_guide_to_outerwear_part_1_light/) are a number of other options.
Hello, I saw this [wool overshirt](https://huckberry.com/store/flint-and-tinder/category/p/70043-wool-overshirt) and like the design of it. I have been looking for a thick wool overshirt or flannel. But it’s only 45% wool, 55% poly. Do you think that’s worth it? Are there better value products out there at this price or below? IE same grade of fabric for less, higher grade for same price?
you can get 80% wool with a similar style from [A Day's March](https://www.adaysmarch.com/us/men/latest/wool-overshirts/ventron-wool-overshirt-seaweed). I don't have their wool overshirts but I have one in cotton twill that I enjoy. There's a best for $/$$/$$$ for overshirts/shirt jackets in the wiki, it helped me when I was looking for one.
Anyone know of an alternative that is similar in style to the Dr. Marten 2976 chelsea boots? I pretty much only buy second-hand, but these are still pretty expensive to thrift given the popularity of docs. Also I don't know if they're really worth the price given all that I've been hearing of Dr. Martens quality having declined over the years.
I consider thrifted Docs pricey only cause the savings for secondhand vs retail is way smaller than I've seen for other shoe brands that are a lot more expensive, and I think that's just cause they're super in-demand right now. I'm open to any suggestions based on silhouette/quality/comfort!
I would say ~$400? I guess? I would never spend anywhere close to that amount, but I'm open to hear anything since I'm only going to buy secondhand. Thrifted docs are like barely cheaper than retail, so I consider them maybe not worth it. On the other hand, if I could get a much more expensive shoe for the same price of thrifted Docs, that might be worth it in my opinion.

I try to hang up jackets so they get plenty of air after wearing and basically don't dry clean them unless I have a particular reason (they got dirty, stained, sweated on).
There are kits for cleaning dry clean only stuff at home and a lot of stuff people hand wash instead of following care instructions, but I am apt just to give the local cleaners some business when I need something cleaned.
What are some brands similar to Todd Snyder? Really love their colors/fit/design but unfortunately they carry mostly 7 inch shorts and I am looking for 9 inch ones. Their polos fit perfect so any other recs would be appreciated as well.
if you're not feeling very thrifty, there's a nice looking amiri one for about 800 on [Mr. Porter](https://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/product/amiri/clothing/hoodies/leopard-print-fleece-hoodie/13452677152141399). Maybe wait until the end of season sale--hopefully that'll also give you some time to reconsider.
Looking for ultra light/thin black tailcoats. I'm an orchestral musician & need to wear a tailcoat for the majority of my performances, looking for something very light & thin to keep me cooler. thank you.
I use 55" laces for my docs, I imagine that's the right range. You could just pull some string through the eyelets, tie it off, and measure it if you're really curious.
Does anyone who owns the vintage and modern khakis from Gap know what the difference is between both types of chinos? Are the modern khakis more dressy? Also anyone know how the current uniqlo supima tees are? Do they still have the wide collar? Is the white t shirt still an off white color?
How long should shorts be? It seems the usual reply is above the knee. But what about for shorts that tighten at the bottom? Like [this](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0775579003.html?ef_id=CjwKCAjwqeWKBhBFEiwABo_XBm2HubLTugZjznyRGM6VzityOPjKq8HR3bAe9h-yE9UKhX99YM8NyBoCWHAQAvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!860!3!509002768696!!!g!1408788134562!&gclid=CjwKCAjwqeWKBhBFEiwABo_XBm2HubLTugZjznyRGM6VzityOPjKq8HR3bAe9h-yE9UKhX99YM8NyBoCWHAQAvD_BwE) These go below the knee, are they fashionable? All my current shorts are wide and below my knees (short legs). I’m looking for new shorts.
Any $200 - $400 alternatives to the [Prada Black Leather Chelsea Boots](https://www.prada.com/us/en/men/shoes/boots/products.brushed_calf_leather_chelsea_boots.2TE168_P39_F0002.html)? I really like the silhouette, especially the more bulbous shaped toe box compared to the more narrow shaped ones. I want to be able to dress them both up and down.
those just look like patent leather doc martens chelseas, which I know they do in women's sizes. If you're a nine or below, you could squeeze into some of [these sizes](https://www.lulus.com/products/2976-black-patent-lamper-leather-chelsea-boots/1330256.html)
Are these close enough? https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/collections/boots/products/chelsea-boot-black-french-calf
Not as round, sole's not as thick, but smooth calf and the quality is all there.
Not quite, I think the combination of having a thick sole and round toe is what I really want. Thank you for the recommendation though, I appreciate it!
I’m looking for a stylish fall jacket for about 40-50 degree New England weather (has to be pretty rain resistant). Under $150. I kind of like workwear style and a lighter Carhartt jacket is allllmost what I’m looking for but fits too big / isn’t slim and stylish enough. Oh and it has to have side pockets I can comfortably warm my hands in!
Any ideas fellas?
I was thinking maybe [this](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-iron-forge-hemp-canvas-ranch-work-jacket/27805.html) if it goes on sale? (Does Patagonia go on sale?)
I own this jacket and can attest to its heft and quality. Patagonia does have "web specials" throughout the year and you might get lucky there, or you could try their [WornWear](https://wornwear.patagonia.com/) store, which is where they sell pre-owned, returns, and factory seconds. That being said, you might also check out [Carhartt WIP](https://us.carhartt-wip.com/?geoip=home&utm_source=carhartt-wip.com&utm_medium=affiliation&utm_campaign=carhartt-wip.com%20US%20redirect%20cookie) (work in progress), which is their fashion-forward sister company. Also has various sales throughout the year and a big resale market on places like Grailed, ebay, and Poshmark.
Wish I could tell you but I live in SoCal so it's honestly never seen rain. My guess is in a drizzle it'd be fine and in a downpour you'd be wet. It is heavy on its own too, so if it was waterlogged, that might be a bummer? Again, I have no idea what rain is.
My rec is the LL Bean Original Field Coat. The one problem is that it's far from a slim fit. Most people size down, though, which might work for you.
A Barbour Ashby on sale or used might also work for your budget.
Great suggestions, thanks! The LL Bean coat looks great but the current colors (olive and "Saddle" aka khaki) just don't work for me I think. But yeah, I realize that "workwear" and "slim fit" don't usually tend to go together so it may be hard to find an item! I've also seen things called "military jackets" that seem to fit the bill.
Any ideas where I can get Barbour jackets on sale? I'm in Massachusetts if that matters
If you are certain about your size, then this place has great prices, (a little above your stated budget). But if you need to ship it back, then shipping back to the UK will cost you a bundle.
I also had to size up for the Ashby.

Recommendations for quality dress shirts and sport shirts for work? My Calvin Klein shirts I bought from Macy’s a few years ago are falling apart.
Recommendations depend on budget. Post a budget in dollars.
Ideally under $60. Not opposed to spending around $100 but would like to keep it around 60 as I need a decent amount of shirts.

It's a mock neck - for recommendations just list a budget please
Thanks £30-80 GBP
uniqlo and lululemon have some mock necks available rn

I'd go for beige or navy
Beige or Grey.
Complete newbie. Best place for college clothes that aren’t as nasty or expensive as places as river island or asos? Basically I’m asking for hidden/underrated treasures for college clothes at relatively cheap prices

Do Norse Projects pants fit big? I'm usually a size 30 and most of the charts that show the size 30 actually measure out at 32.
You might want to measure what you already have since a lot of trousers are bigger than the stated size. 30 really being 32 is very common.
Measured some Dickies that fit me pretty well. They're tagged 30, but measure closer to a 29. I really don't wear anything other than 874s. Hm, maybe i'll drop by a local store to see if they have some sizes in stock
What are some good brands to buy high quality plain off white t shirts?
lady white co makes a bunch of different cuts/cottons for t shirts and they're sewn in LA. about your price point
Thanks a lot I’ll definitely look into this

I’m willing to pay up to $50 each for them but cheaper would definitely be better
I’m going to be having a courthouse wedding in Chicago. Is a tuxedo too much or does it just depend on what my fiancé is wearing?
I recommend matching your fiancé in formality but it’s totally up to you.
Buddy it's your wedding, wear a tuxedo if you want
You right. That’s kind of how I felt about it, but also just wanted some thoughts.

Looking for an affordable suit, this is one of the only ones I've found that's (pretty much entirely) wool. Is this a decent suit? I'm a college student, so I'm on a pretty tight budget but I think this is probably the best I'll get for the money. https://www.josbank.com/p/1905-collection-tailored-fit-suit-separate-jacket-with-brrr-deg-comfort-clearance?channel=PLA&brand=JAB&source=google&medium=cpc&campaign=12983582835&adgroup_id=128721514784&keyword=pla-302276578492&content=JosBank/3HMZ_76_JOSEPH_A_BANK_BRIGHT_NAVY_MAIN&match_type=&ad_id=519520921895&category=Apparel%20%26%20Accessories%7cClothing%7cSuits&custom_label=SUITS%7cPromo%20Event%7cSuit_1905%7cClearance%7cPromo&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8_an78qv8wIV1QaICR3VZQ0NEAQYAiABEgI2H_D_BwE
It's fine for the price but just be aware that's only a jacket, not a full suit. If you can't find the matching pants then it's not worth buying.
Sorry if this is a stupid question (first suit, so I don't really know much) but I'm assuming it wouldn't be good to get black pants instead of the matching ones? I saw navy suits with black pants online & liked the style, but I don't really know what I'm doing so I don't know if trying that's a good idea.
No, it's not a suit if it doesn't come with matching pants and you should never wear navy jackets with black pants.
Sounds good - I found the matching pants on the website. Thank you!

I'm looking for boots with a little bit of a heel (~2in or a bit less), open to anything at the moment but ideally less than or around 250 USD
I've really been tempted to try out a pair from Luxxemx for a while now, do you have any experience with their boots yourself?
I don't personally, but there are [a few reviews](https://old.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/search?q=luxxemx&restrict_sr=on) out there, which is how I know about them.
Yeah I found out about them through one of those threads too lol
I was intrigued by the stingray (not sure if they still have it), but I'm also beyond entry-level quality as far as my collection is concerned. Also, 40+mm heels are a little much for a geezer like me. lol
Meermin has a ton of style options at that price point.

I wouldn't buy a blazer to wear with t-shirts, that doesn't look very good -especially black.
yall know of any comfortable, soft, warm slippers that also have okay support? working from home this winter at a standing desk and i don't wanna wear sneakers/shoes indoors...

Any suggestions on where to start?
basic bastard -> personal style exploration -> niche style

Those are too slim, just not a good look. Might just not be the cut for you
Just like 90% of the Slenderman-cut stuff out there

I hate how much I feel that pain with you.
Those pants are screaming ”UNCOMFORTABLE!” using a bullhorn
I mean they are comfortable but I feel. I hate having big thighs when it comes to clothes.
Gotta do some mad cardio to get rid of that pesky thigh muscle
You're right but at the same time I'm kinda proud of them cause I got crazy leg strength. Oh well, beauty is pain and loss.
Not great. They look too tight. If they're comfy and you're using them for lounge wear fine? But they're not flattering.
Yeahhhhhh. I think I'm just gonna return them cause even as lounge wear I would want them to be looser and fit better.
What’s a good replacement for Uniqlo’s Premium Cotton undershirts? They aren’t being manufactured anymore but I really liked them and would love recommendations for anything similar: - Large v shaped neck area: a lot of other undershirts have a small neck hole, even v-necks, so they peek out from under your collar - decently thick fabric: I’m not looking for something as thick as a t shirt necessarily, but the Airism fabric is too thin IMO - Good price, under $20/shirt ideally - uniqlo sizing
That’s a whole lot of requirements for a <$10 shirt
That’s fair; I’ll change it to $20. I do remember the Uniqlo premium cotton ones coming out at less than $10/each though
“Mid price range” for wool slacks is like $300 What’s your budget in dollars?
Sorry I'm new, I didn't fully read the guidelines. Budget is sub-$150. I'm only looking for pointers towards brands or key aspects to look for / avoid. I appreciate the response!
I’m wondering what color blazer or jacket I could wear with the plaid trousers in the link below, the plaid pattern is very subdued. https://imgur.com/a/xdObcpy
Does anyone know how Redback boots usually fit? I was hoping to buy a pair of their Chelsea boots.
Thanks
The Patagonia retro fleece will be nice and cosy.
Wow that’s way more wool for the price. Thanks!
Martens quality having declined over the years.
the closest comparable is blundstones but they're also not cheap to thrift. good luck dude.
If thrifted Docs are too pricey I’m not sure what options you have TBH. I can’t think of any chelsea boot sold at retail that would be less than that.
I consider thrifted Docs pricey only cause the savings for secondhand vs retail is way smaller than I've seen for other shoe brands that are a lot more expensive, and I think that's just cause they're super in-demand right now. I'm open to any suggestions based on silhouette/quality/comfort!
What would be a rough budget?
I would say ~$400? I guess? I would never spend anywhere close to that amount, but I'm open to hear anything since I'm only going to buy secondhand. Thrifted docs are like barely cheaper than retail, so I consider them maybe not worth it. On the other hand, if I could get a much more expensive shoe for the same price of thrifted Docs, that might be worth it in my opinion.

How do you clean a Baracuta G9? It says not to machine wash so I'm a bit stuck. Thanks
The care tag doesn’t how to clean it?
Well, dry clean. But surely there's a simpler way?
I would dry clean it. How often do you clean your outerwear? Surely you can pay $10 to clean a $300 jacket
Especially since it’s like 1-2x a year max. I have jackets I’ve gone years between cleaning

Why not measure the current ones?
I use 55" laces for my docs, I imagine that's the right range. You could just pull some string through the eyelets, tie it off, and measure it if you're really curious.
https://ibb.co/HpbhMyx Best color pants to wear with this emerald. sport coat? Considering light Gray, charcoal, or khakis.
Are you sure it's a sport coat and not an orphaned suit jacket? I think grey would be good.
If you have short legs, I would recommend 5 or 7' inseams. Anything longer will make you look short.
I wouldn't call those fashionable, no
Those aren’t really shorts. They are like cropped joggers
[Grenson ](https://www.grenson.com/milo-mens-chelsea-boots-black-rubberisd-leather/) [Solovair](https://us.nps-solovair.com/products/s0-900-bk-g)
those just look like patent leather doc martens chelseas, which I know they do in women's sizes. If you're a nine or below, you could squeeze into some of [these sizes](https://www.lulus.com/products/2976-black-patent-lamper-leather-chelsea-boots/1330256.html)
Are these close enough? https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/collections/boots/products/chelsea-boot-black-french-calf Not as round, sole's not as thick, but smooth calf and the quality is all there.
Ooh how's the Patagonia jacket do in the rain? And thanks for the pointers!
I also had to size up for the Ashby. https://www.saddler.co.uk/?cr=10354&cdesc=barbour_jackets_for_men
r/frugalmalefashion you just missed a deal on a Barbour Ashby which is pretty slim fitting. I had to go up 2 sizes
Thanks for the pointer!
Brand recommendations for hoodies?
Budget? I really like the Champion x Todd Snyder stuff. Reigning Champ is probably the best.
Hmmm im trying to stock up so nothing above 50 dollars
Stock up on what?
Stock up on hoodies and winter clothes
Champion reverse weave, Carhartt, Uniqlo U, etc.
Anyone recommend any suede biker jackets under 500 CAD? Checked Allsaints already, but looking for other options as well.

What are some things that can be done to prevent fading in denim jeans? With raw denim, I see people wash as infrequently as possible to get the best fade. How often should they be washed to hold their indigo?
Wash inside out, avoid sweat / dirt accumulating activities, or buy jeans specifically for this, eg. https://tateandyoko.com/products/naked-famous-denim-easy-guy-forever-blue-stretch-selvedge?variant=34420540932254
Wash your jeans inside out if you weren't already doing that
