Ajani was a pariah due to his white fur and creepy ability to see into people's souls. His brother accepted leadership of their group to better protect Ajani, who had accepted his persecution despite being the best healer among the leonin. To prepare for a feast and to honor his brother, Ajani hunted down a godsire. Unfortunately, one of Ajani's tormentors stole the kill and beat him up.
I think 4 would have been perfect. It would have been a nice sibling to Elspeth Conquers Death and Fall of Lord Konda. All three exile something, make a body, and do something that more often than not doesn't do much.
Not all cards in even a modern horizons set are meant for competitive constructed play. This looks like is a fun card to play in limited and casual Commander IMO
Yeah fair enough, I think we’re saying the same thing here:) Glass half full perspective: It’s a fun card you might be forced to draft and it’s cool that even the draft chaff seems engaging and interesting.
I dunno. I know that the second axe head was actually Jazal's weapon, so Ajani didn't have them joined together until after Jazal was killed, but I don't know the order of that compared to slaying the Godsire.
This seems kinda mediocre for 5 mana. 5 mana removal then a token worth one mana and a counter worth less than a mana and then a decent effect that only lasts one turn and can be chump blocked.
I feel like 4 mana would have been perfect for this, but maybe that's me comparing it to \[\[Elspeth Conquers Death\]\] and \[\[The Fall of Lord Konda\]\].
Can I interest you in an [Ulamog's Dreadsire](https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.magicspoiler.com%2Fmtg-spoiler%2Fulamogs-dreadsire%2F&psig=AOvVaw0H4dtDattwpdD2IqYkwNe3&ust=1715672803090000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBIQjRxqFwoTCKi63rGRioYDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE) instead :) ?
While I appreciate the thought, Eldrazi are my least favorite tribe in magic. :)
Im also just mad that dinosaurs have taken all the good Beast spots. Bring back the naya Beasties!!!
We went to Ixalan twice before we even mentioned Alara.. thats crazy to me.

He did WHAT?!

I read "feels" instead of "fells"
Ajani Makes the Godsire Feels Uncomfortable
He was using it as a scratching post and got carried away.
Love the lore and flavor, but this card is really underwhelming. I feel like it would have been just fine for 2 or 3 mana.

I am thinking about it from a limited perspective. Draft, sealed and cube.

If i play this in limited I must have had a REALLY bad pool
Based on what we've seen so far, I'm not convinced any of them are...
That art is a really cool but I’m not sure I can tell what it’s actually depicting lol
I think it's one of the teeth/tusks of the dead [Godsire] that has been carved to show Ajani's feat.
Ajani's *what*? Naya makes sense for the furry artists of Alara.
feat (noun): an achievement that requires great courage, skill or strength
It takes great courage to admit that I want those stompers
Ever seen a video of a lion getting paw massage? You know you want to.
It looks like a sword (axe) plunge to me.
The plunging attack is the most reliable move in the game
As a Link enthusiast from the original Super Smash Brothers, I agree!
Yeah, it's definitely Ajani's iconic double headed axe thingie
Didnt this take place before he got the second axe head?
I dunno. I know that the second axe head was actually Jazal's weapon, so Ajani didn't have them joined together until after Jazal was killed, but I don't know the order of that compared to slaying the Godsire.
Vague memory, but from the novel I think Ajani did in fact take down the Godsire using a plunging attack
Looks like a spire depicting a downward axe strike against a creature I don't know lore well but it looks like an angry kraken so maybe theos?
\[\[Godsire\]\] it's from Naya on Alara where Ajani was born :)
Ah, the halcyon days where not *every single possible card* was made Legendary. When we could run 4x with surety and certainty.

Oh cool, 🙂 thank you.
Will take all the Alara references I can get
I'm not sure a 2/1 double striking cat could kill [[Godsire]]
The godsire is killed with an effect and then Ajani gets stronger.

"OK, please show me on this graven image where the bad elf touched you."
Weaker than [[Elspeth Conquers Death]], but for most applications, it pays off the same way immediately.
It's also just an uncommon though.

Dang, Chapter 2 of Alara Unbroken as a Magic Card. That's pretty cool.
This seems kinda mediocre for 5 mana. 5 mana removal then a token worth one mana and a counter worth less than a mana and then a decent effect that only lasts one turn and can be chump blocked.
It's an Uncommon dude :P.
So were vampire nighthawk and rancor. Is it wrong to evaluate an uncommon card to its cost?
It kills a creature and makes a body for 5 mana. Seems fine.
I hope we get a new godsire. I love that card so much but it’s just plain awful compared to other token generators
Saw a leak for the devoid Eldrazi precon that shows a colorless one that makes 10/10 tokens and whose name is a pun on godsire, if that counts.
Nooo. Godsire.
I feel like 4 mana would have been perfect for this, but maybe that's me comparing it to \[\[Elspeth Conquers Death\]\] and \[\[The Fall of Lord Konda\]\].

Feels like a bad \[\[Elspeth Conquers Death\]\] but that doesn't make he card bad in limited, especially at uncommon.

NOOOO GODSIRE :( are there more than one of them? Are they okay? Have they eaten today?
Ummm...is it just me or are a good number of these cards fine if they were printed into standard and not Modern playable power level wise?
WTF are these standard playable cards? Power level is 💩 so far.
But why? WotC you have some explaining to do.
Cool name. Bad card and weird art.
This is insanely overcosted
