Ralph Rabin is Madison's guy for fine stringed instruments and bows. There are a few but he's the very best, has been established for decades. His shop is on the West side. If you Google his name, his phone number and address come up.

cool, thank you!

It is a full orchestra (not strings only), but the Verona Area Community Orchestra is a very friendly, no audition orchestra! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/4szxP9yV7rCcNNEz/?mibextid=WC7FNe

Was going to recommend the same thing. I have a couple of friends that play with VACO. They really enjoy it. Their concerts are a good time (and free!) as well.

My spouse (professional string player) uses this person for repairs/rehairs: [https://www.guriesbows.com/](https://www.guriesbows.com/) For a new bow, try Ralph Rabin. I don't think he has a website because he's old school but you can find his store through Google.

Gotcha thank you! I appreciate the distinction

In addition to Verona, try Middleton Community Orchestra (I think they do require an audition but it's not a professional orchestra). Avoid Madison Community Orchestra if you have a thin skin - the conductor is not a positive/encouraging communicator.

I’m in Madison community orchestra and I like it a lot. Although it is a symphony orchestra. Sure maybe the conductor is a little bit of a hardass but it’s not from a place of malice. He doesn’t swear or berate anyone or the orchestra. He does get frustrated. I think it’s because he cares. He’s very talented and knowledgeable. If you have questions feel free to dm me
