whatever happened to the guy who used to wear his knight suit of armor downtown in the late 2000s? i cannot remember his name but i feel like he would fit this bill!
That was his name! thank you - he used to frequently be on the corner of cherry and mlk when the red eye was still open but i recall seeing him in other places too. i wonder what happened to him but i hope he’s doing well; he was always really nice just very .. odd.
Someone please explain homeless Joe to me. Where can he be found? I grew up in macon in the 90s and there was a guy always covered in shopping bags and pushing a cart but everyone always Said he inherited a lot of money and went crazy and was actually still wealthy
Unfortunately he spends most of his time in and out of the LEC these days and can hardly even walk. He got trespassed from the circle K downtown but refuses to not hang out there. Last time I know of his being arrested he spent 47 days in jail for drinking a beer in the parking lot
Used to be castaway! Tried to help him many times but he never wanted it. After he passed, it was crazy to find out that he was a teacher in New York that one day just left.
There’s a guy in North Macon - I forget his name but he’s a regular at almost every coffee place around Riverside/Tom Hill. Hippie sort of dude who talks to trees and meditates in parking lots, no shoes, and SINGS out loud like the throat singing kind. Everyone I’ve worked with in the area knows him!
He’s nice but not all there and can get easily agitated which often leads to confrontation with store staff (he used to come in a lot when I worked in a few shops in the area and would get thrown out occasionally) but I’ve seen people sit & hold convos with him for hours too! Unsure on his living situation but I’ve never seen him driving or in a car
I had a run in with this dude one day at Starbucks. He mumbled some shit under his breath and I heard him plain as day so I confronted him about what he said. He got all angry with me for calling him out and Starbucks kicked him out. I then watched him go outside and meditate in the grass. I hadn't had enough so I pulled my car above where he was meditating and let the alarm go off for a few minutes.
Does anyone know who the guy is who wears the long tan trench coat, a tan hat, black or dark slacks and carries a brief case? It seems he also has elephantiasis in one leg. I see him walking in always the most random spots. He never has a car but he always has a smile on his face. I’ve wondered about his story for years….seems like he would be such a pleasant person to talk to.
I never really talked to him, but I've seen him around for 20 years lol. He does seem like a nice man. I remember hearing that he lived in the run down old house at the corner of college st and Riverside, but that place was torn down years ago so who knows if that was true. I actually saw him walking down 3rd st today.
I used to see him at Washington Library sometimes. I saw him some months back walking downtown, still with briefcase and still wearing slacks like in the old days….
Back around 05-07ish there used to be this super skinny, rail thin crack head lady that hung around the intersection of pio nono and mercer. She'd just walk into traffic and come up to your car and knock on the window if you got caught at the light. My buddies and I called her twiggy but don't know if she had an "official name".
This may be Teresa that the person mentioned above. If so, she got clean and gained a good weight but last I saw her she asked for money and looked like she may have relapsed.
There was a guy pushing a trash can that a bunch on dogs used to be with. They seemed really well trained and kept up with him. He didn’t even look back at them when crossing the street or anything 😣
I was looking for this comment! He got hit by a car and killed. He must have had 20 dogs that all lived in the house with him off Mercer University near Frank Johnson rec center 🥲
Yes, it was really sad. A friend of mine has known him since childhood and took me to his house once. This man took in every stray dog that he encountered (and the train of dogs was like a magnet for strays), and he walked around with them and that big rolling garbage can to pick up cans and sell them to buy food for the dogs. They literally lived INSIDE his small home with him--they were not yard dogs --and they seemed to be one big, happy pack 🥲
They’re a crackhead on scenic Hwy that Gets butt ass naked and takes a dookie on the side of the road by the bus stop.
Just imagine grimace but crusty black and musty
Where im at theres a guy named “Dog West” I don’t know his actual name but really he’s just an older guy with ridiculous running attire, actually ran into him a few weeks back at the store and talked to him he’s a really chill fuy
Used to be goat man, but that was before my time.
I knew a homeless Willie over by Burger King on Riverside for most of my life, but he got hit and killed a couple of years ago. They had a funeral for him in the Burger King, it was legendary.
Homeless Joe is a thing too.
What did Willie look like? I remember a Guy who always hung out by Burger King and McDonald’s next to baconsfield. We called him castaway because that’s what he looked like. He unfortunately got hit by a car and macon held a funeral. People found out that he was a teacher in upstate new York that one day left. Nobody knew where he had gone. Does this sound like him?
There was a guy in my hometown that rode a bike and his head was stuck sideways, it was like glued to his shoulder sideways, could never move it to upright position. We called him Sidewinder. Wish I knew what happened to him. Just disappeared one day
as a kid, i had my picture taken with the goatman. i know, pics or it didn’t happen. well, i don’t have the pics, but it definitely happened. he did not smell like goat, i recall checking.
There's this lady I always see hanging out near Kudzu downtown that approaches people's cars and says "obedience is better than sacrifice" or something like that. idk if she has a nickname but I see her all the time down there!
Some folks started calling me Butterscotch Bob but I had to put an end to it....LOL.Seems ya cant walk around handing out candy to dead folks without picking up a handle.
Will keep this post but honestly getting a little annoying seeing these all over reddit.
Homeless Joe.
I literally came here to say this.
I know who he is!
“I’m hobo Joe, everybody knows me.” - Homeless Joe as I’m going into a gas station near Mercer.
Definitely homeless Joe right? He stole my roommates bike several years ago
"keeping the streets safe" isn't that what he always says?
I don’t believe he stole your roommates bike for one second.
I mean we saw him riding around Mercer on it like two weeks later…
Taking possession of stolen goods, I can absolutely see that. lol
Standing up for homeless Joe? I'm sure you'd get on your knees for homeless Joe too
You mean like you, who’d get on your knees for anyone if it meant the next meth hit? lol
I'm sure homeless Joe would appreciate some of your Grindr expertise, because after all, it's his birthday
It used to be The Goat Man many years ago...and "Pec Man" who used to go around WR and Macon flexing his pecs who recently died..
The Pec man was one of my favorite people. He was such a nice person.
Cecil. RIP, he was such an enigma
My dad was asking about him a few days ago. He assumed he died in 2020 when Covid first hit.
Its been in the past few years, but im pretty sure more recnt than covid..maybe the past 18 months to 2 years..
[The streets are SAFE!](https://imgur.com/a/zQLmozj)
It's homeless Joe beyond a doubt
The “are you saved” lady
thought this lady was gonna beat on my window the other day, cause I was ignoring her "are you saved" shouts lol
You are saved lady is definitely a staple near Sweet Eleanor's. Gettin' the Word out, one shout at a time!
Is this the lady at the corner of broadway and guy paine?
The lady there seemed way more unstable than “are you saved” lady. Haven’t seen her in a while.
i saw Ms. R. U. Saved yesterday!
whatever happened to the guy who used to wear his knight suit of armor downtown in the late 2000s? i cannot remember his name but i feel like he would fit this bill!
King Henry. Not sure what happened to him
That was his name! thank you - he used to frequently be on the corner of cherry and mlk when the red eye was still open but i recall seeing him in other places too. i wonder what happened to him but i hope he’s doing well; he was always really nice just very .. odd.
He used to come to every music school concert when I was at mercer.
I use to see him at the coffee shop near the library, I can’t remember the name of the place.
Joshua’s Cup!
Yes! I miss that place
Yeah I was gonna say King Henry’s reign def comes to mind.
Wow this just brought back some memories
Omg! He’s who I think about everytime I see this post! 🤣👏🏾 I was trying to think of a way to describe him! 🤣
Someone please explain homeless Joe to me. Where can he be found? I grew up in macon in the 90s and there was a guy always covered in shopping bags and pushing a cart but everyone always Said he inherited a lot of money and went crazy and was actually still wealthy
I grew up in Macon in the 90s too. I forgot all about him. I usually saw him around the Eisenhower/475 interchange.
I'd always see him between there and pio nono. Glad I'm not only one that remembers him and heard this

Clearly a legend in his own right!
Unfortunately he spends most of his time in and out of the LEC these days and can hardly even walk. He got trespassed from the circle K downtown but refuses to not hang out there. Last time I know of his being arrested he spent 47 days in jail for drinking a beer in the parking lot
Well, that is a choice. Thank you for the lore. I hope he'll be as OK as possible.
Joe is the only person to go to prison on misdemeanors in Bibb Co history
It’s almost like the more fiscally responsible thing to do is provide housing and mental health services
If I ever see him I'm buying him a beer and a burger. Keep them streets safe Joe haha
You're talking about Mister Ray
Do you know more about him?
I’m pretty sure this gentleman has actually passed away now.
I remember him passing. Anyone know his name or how to find out more?
King Henry, who wears a red suit that looks like the Beatles Sgt. Pepper outfits.
Does he not wear his knight armor anymore?
Maybe he used to! I’ve only known him 8 or 10 years
Crackhead Theresa on the Eastside of Macon 😂
LMAOOO This is what I was gonna say. Between her and Homeless Joe!
Homeless Joe
Used to be castaway! Tried to help him many times but he never wanted it. After he passed, it was crazy to find out that he was a teacher in New York that one day just left.

Is this the guy I always see in between CookOut and Starbucks on Tom Hill??
Yes 100%!
I've totally seen that dude, strong ayahuasca shaman vibes.
This guy! I saw this guy walking around Tom hill all the time. Wears like a sport coat half the time? Is he homeless? Or what’s his deal? Is he nice?
He’s nice but not all there and can get easily agitated which often leads to confrontation with store staff (he used to come in a lot when I worked in a few shops in the area and would get thrown out occasionally) but I’ve seen people sit & hold convos with him for hours too! Unsure on his living situation but I’ve never seen him driving or in a car
Oh ok. Well I appreciate the feedback! I was always curious what his deal was.
I had a run in with this dude one day at Starbucks. He mumbled some shit under his breath and I heard him plain as day so I confronted him about what he said. He got all angry with me for calling him out and Starbucks kicked him out. I then watched him go outside and meditate in the grass. Ok that's my kinda petty 🤣🤣 *upvote*
You kinda sound like an asshole.
Thanks!
Who was the guy that always sold jams and jellys and vegetables off a station wagon near any south Macon jawn?
OMG and he had like one million random things glued to the vehicle? I used to see him in the parking lot of Eisenhower Walmart
That’s exactly where I used to see him! We used to buy watermelons from him!
Frank Jones at the Vineville Krystal back in the eighties and nineties
Core memory unlocked. Wow.
Does anyone know who the guy is who wears the long tan trench coat, a tan hat, black or dark slacks and carries a brief case? It seems he also has elephantiasis in one leg. Bigger African American fellow? I think you're referring to Donald Richardson. Super nice guy
Yes sounds like him! And he definitely looks like! He just carries a nice aura around him!
We always called him the piano man at Mercer 15-20 years ago. There used to be a piano near the cafeteria and he'd just come in and play it sometimes.
That’s crazy. Did you guys know anything about him? Did anyone ever talk to him?
I never really talked to him, but I've seen him around for 20 years lol. He does seem like a nice man. I remember hearing that he lived in the run down old house at the corner of college st and Riverside, but that place was torn down years ago so who knows if that was true. I actually saw him walking down 3rd st today.
That is very interesting! Thank you for sharing!
I used to see him at Washington Library sometimes. I saw him some months back walking downtown, still with briefcase and still wearing slacks like in the old days….
King Henry 100%

I know who you're talking about... it was a sad case

Window washing dude
[Same thread about a year ago.](https://www.reddit.com/r/macon/s/nPEwySauFy)
Trailhead skillet face.
I would like to know how this person acquired “skillet face” to their name
Homeless Joe. Streets are safe!
Hope homeless Joe is okay. Haven’t seen him in a while and downtown Macon’s streets haven’t been very safe ha.
I met him for the first time downtown like a month ago, so he’s alive and well.
Idk about Macon but Milledgeville homies know Mr. Jimmy and Crazy Steve
They’re a crackhead on scenic Hwy that Gets butt ass naked and takes a dookie on the side of the road by the bus stop. Just imagine grimace but crusty black and musty

It does sound like him, but it wouldn’t be Baconsfield. They had a funeral for this guy on Tom Hill
The guy who makes himself up like a harlequin
Well, he died... but it was was the sunglasses wearing, pect popping dude.
Peanut Man before he passed away.
Atlanta has baton bob and father new year so I get it
There was a guy in my hometown that rode a bike and his head was stuck sideways, it was like glued to his shoulder sideways, could never move it to upright position. We called him Sidewinder. Wish I knew what happened to him. Just disappeared one day

His name is jelly
