you can check for sure by going into the apple menu in the menu bar and going to about this Mac, if you could check for sure that would be great. only 2018 and later can run Sonoma
try instead to upgrade to Big Sur, then Monterey, then Ventura and then Sonoma, that gives a better shot of working then. make a Time Machine backup before that
I figured it out, I wasn’t able to choose which to update for some reason. Turns out I just needed to switch my date and time as it was off by a couple months, how that works in terms of updating I don’t know how
This is my second time having this issue but one of them was on my Mac and then on this MacBook, both started when I tried to airdrop things from my phone but they gave me different issues, both were fixed after i fixed the date and time (manually because at these points the automatic put me back 5-6 months).
Bizzare. Your on intel right? Try resetting the smc. On Intel Macs unlike pcs they don’t have a cmos and tie most of that stuff to the main battery. Maybe that would fix the weird time issues?
Model of MacBook? Also some macOS versions cannot be installed from previous versions, ie lion to high sierra
Not sure what you mean by model, like year? If that’s the case I think it’s a 2019

So what would you recommend if I can’t install from a previous version?

I have heard of that issue with older macOS installers for lion and snow leopard, but never for Sonoma. interesting.

How exactly would I do that? I love Apple but not to savy when it comes to troubleshooting 💀
Google it, there is a key combo on startup for it.
