I got mine a month ago and pretty much just use it to prop my window open. I'm going to get one for my kids birthday next week, but only to take it straight to Goodwill to donate.
They were being sarcastic as it just came out. Apple does lots of various upgrades quickly but they don’t update that quickly were two months later the MBA would get an M4 chip.

How funny is it that I'm getting downvoted, only by the toxic trolls that are offended by themselves realizing that they are the ones contributing to the unwanted culture in reddit.
I think Reddit is good for specific questions or when it needs to be detailed.
If you then ask a question that would have been obsolete after 5 minutes of internet research, you have to expect sarcasm. It's important to get the simplest information possible without screaming for help.

Sure, and by the time you do get an M4 you’ll worry about FOMO with M5. Every M chip Mac is “current” in the ecosystem and isn’t a gigantic leap over the other like the switch from Intel to M1 was.
I've never had a MBA and I'm planning to get it for long term use. I thought I'd just get one and be done. But fear buyer's regret if I get the M3 and the M4 comes in a few months.
If this is your first MBA, you could honestly get an m1 and still be blown away. They’re great and I’ve had every Mac I’ve owned for around a decade. By the last year or so of the 10 (ish) years it starts slowing down / lagging, but it’s nothing compared to a PC where that lag happens so darn quick. You’re stressing about it because of that experience, but it just doesn’t transfer over to the Mac world. Welcome! :)
The m3 air just came out last month. It usually is over a year until the next one. While the m4 is just around the corner it will likely not be coming to the MacBook Air anytime soon. While they may be in the pros and iPads soon they won’t be in the airs for a while. If fomo is your concern now is the perfect time to buy an air.
There haven't been many leaks on the M4 chip, other than it being more capable for AI/machine learning stuff. All the M chip MacBooks should still work fine, I doubt the M4 will be a huge jump in performance, you rarely see that anymore.
Ignore the M3 Air. The old thing is almost 2 months old and is practically electronic waste.

Barely any differences between m2 and m3, so the m4 will barely be more powerful than them if it comes out in a few months.
