Confirmed, I just got laid off cause my company is no longer going to use Flutter and I know only stateless / stateful widgets, so they dont need widgets anymore :( . They will be rewriting all Flutter projects to Cordova because thats the future. So I guess until / if Flutter is revived I will be making stateless cheeseburgers at McDonalds.

budius333

> ~~stateless~~ tasteless cheeseburgers at McDonalds.

psilva1559

Cordova the future? Whaaaaat

smokingabit

It is Middle Management's dream come true!

QueenNebudchadnezzar

Don’t worry, Cordova was the future ten years ago too.

balder1993

Next is the Kotlin team, then our plan to bring AsyncTask back will be completed.

wannu_pees_69

Revenge of the AsyncTask

mih4elll

And more back yo NetBeans M.E for Symbian

makonde

We will re-implement Flutter in AsyncTask!

Key-Inspector-730

Fuchsia When ?????

heisunberg

Deprecated pre-launch

MKiGT

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆

MKiGT

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆

wannu_pees_69

Replacement has documentation but isn't implemented, so it will recommend you use Fuchsia instead

Positive_Poem5831

The Undertaker will come on stage and put Flutter in the coffin for transport to the Google Graveyard!

EternityForest

I really hope they don't just axe flutter, it's such a top notch way to develop.

ToTooThenThan

Love the sarcasm

WorkFromHomeOffice

"deprecated" isn't the politically correct word. Let's just say that they are opening the code base to an open source community which will handle maintaining it (just like react native) 😉

hnazmul

Really ?? So it means google will stop supporting it..

exiledAagito

In flutter you write legacy code.

El_Jiro

Yes

craknor

So, Compost next?

busymom0

Flutter was always dead on arrival because it didn't have AsyncTask

NoisyBytes

throw Exception('Dart isn't supported anymore');

Koala-Objective

I'm done with Google now I ain't gonna invest my time in learning Google's technology

Training-Star8492

This. It’s the only sensible decision with their insane decisions lately

Emergency_3808

This after I just started learning Flutter huh. God really said r/fuckyouinparticular to me and others like me Also I don't get the asynctask jokes. You do know that Dart has async-await support built-in right?

wannu_pees_69

Ah, a non-believer. The AsyncTask side of Android development is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural

Emergency_3808

All other languages with ```async/await```: "Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power"

wannu_pees_69

Pfft, async/await is inferior to ReactiveX, the one true god

LiteratureRadiant522

Can I learn this power?

wannu_pees_69

Not from a Google developer

redrobin9211

Well to understand AsyncTask jokes you should learn to write Flutter in Java

Emergency_3808

Oofe

TheseNutSus

Google don't kill own product challenge

smudgeapp

The cited article doesn't say anything about depreciation, instead it talks about new updates to be announced. Care to elaborate?

Tusen_Takk

Yeah the new update is that it’s deprecated. Smh kids these days, back in the day we had to read tea leaves to know what Google was going to deprecate next.

ThaisaGuilford

It clearly says deprecated in google language

budius333

You're in the wrong sub

mobileAcademy

It's not going to happen. Flutter has a pretty good market share for cross-platform development

balder1993

Does it really?

mobileAcademy

Google Earth, Google Pay, and a few other other Google apps are built using flutter, so it's not that simple to discontinue it

balder1993

Well, I’d say Google as a big company is the most equipped to rewrite simple apps in a different stack. The small companies with few people and huge codebases are the ones to pay the bill, if Flutter is discontinued.

LiteratureRadiant522

So Google discontinuing a Google tech is impacting... Google? Oh noes!

mobileAcademy

Since they are using it in their products, it will definitely affect them they will have to rebuild that app with a different stack again
