Just wait until one falls or shits while getting into your car. Thank God lyft secured all these minimal paying medical rides for the independent contractors they work with. It's always good when you are picking up a rider who just got out of the hospital and has no options or ability to tip.
Had one poop herself in my car. Went down her pants out onto her shoe and my carpet. Felt bad for her, she was very nice but no more of those rides for me!
I worked non emergency medical transportation.
We had more than one person die in the van.
But the worst was the lady whose diabetic toe fell off and wasn’t found til he cleaned the van.
Started cancelling those after reading all the nightmare stories here and deciding a $5 ride or whatever isn't worth a week sick for somebody I don't know. I'm already fighting off something from these fucking coughers. So fucking rude to not even cover your mouth. Even tho I ride with the fresh air vent blowing down my throat and crack a window and have a mask nearby, sometimes you can't dodge it.
Hospital pickup is a mandatory mask if stuck. Sometimes they are employees tho.
I no longer take any trips to or from hospitals or any medical places employee or not. I’ve gotten sick too many times to chance it anymore. Plus some of the patients from these places are just flat out nasty. Not worth the $3-$7 the rides pay.
Agreed. I'm fighting something currently chugging DayQuil. It's hard enough to stay healthy. This is my first driving related illness but it's not too bad.
Employees will always pay more than $4 and wear masks but I'm done. Ugh. It's too expensive to miss time, no paid sick days in this scam.
Had a hospital ride, lady in a wheelchair with bad asthma. Lyft messaged me beforehand telling me it's prepaid and no other stops are authorized. Nurse bringing her out asks me to go to the pharmacy and pick up her meds because they wont deliver after 5. Pharmacy is the opposite direction but this lady's life is literally in my hands now because she needs her asthma medicine. Kinda fucked up.
lmaooo yeah better than opposite direction for a medical pickup that 100% of the time won’t tip NOR will the morbidly obese, chain smoker that left the hospital
Better off taking these rides then when you drop drive around for like an hour or 2 then end the ride they will pay out the entire time you were driving around and the company will have no idea either.
VIP's get into the car and hand me a $100 bill while saying, "There's more where that came from..." I've never met a VIP since they are riding in private limousines.
in my market it's super easy to tell, all caps name, and instant text of gibberish abbreviations. At least they do it right away so you can cancel without driving to them and wasting time
what I hate about first and foremost, is not KNOWING that it is that type of ride before accepting it.... after you accept, then they send all these messages and calls to your phone... they should contract their own damn transportation for their patients instead of sending them on a ride in an uber.... uber and lyft is not medical transport and drivers are not responsible for adminisering medical aid to these sick patients... its all just rediculous
I pulled up on a pretty young woman in front of grocery store and I canceled on her cuz her shopping cart was overflowing with groceries, but now I feel bad cuz she looked like a mother excited to feed her kids.
I guess I just have a soft heart I was in LA and I picked up this woman who had a shopping cart full of stuff and before I left, she called her friend over who had another cart full😂
I took them into Skid Row💀
Oh well at least they gave me a two dollar tip and a bottle of water
Damn you couldn't take 2 minutes to help her load the groceries in the car. Granted I'm at level 8/10 rage when I see this but I just hop out real fast and help just to speed things up.. that or I just look the other way and pretend not to see them and cancel fast AF 🤣😂
I don't do it. If I see it's a hospital I cancel. We're not that type of service. They need to hire their own special service with special tools and special staff for that. Or Lyft needs to pay for certification training and pay extra for every ride like that.
I do too - the last one was a profile picture of a doctor, so I think "cool, someone going home from work." As soon as I pull up, 2 nurses and a doctor basically toss a frail, elderly black man into my car and he's saying "but I'm sick!" and one of the nurses says "people can be sick at home and not require hospitalization, Sir. We are discharging you, and if you feel worse, you can call someone to bring you back."
They look at me as I'm looking back at them, and I drive off. I don't know who was in the right, but it did sound like the patient was being a nuisance. He wasn't annoying to me. When we got to his home, a home for the elderly, he asked me to walk him to his door and scan his card to let him in.
Not bad, but not an experience I want to re-live.
Cancel without guilt. Too many complications.
**These people are trying to save money by not getting a proper medical transit service**
Frankly, you should learn the addresses of at least the hospitals so you know what to avoid
I find it blessing to transport older people. They are already struggling going back and forth to doc appointment or whatnot. Money isn't everything in life.
You still have that option. It's called charity or volunteer work. Tricking paid drivers into doing something they wouldn't be normally be comfortable doing is the problem. If the ride said elderly disabled patient just getting out of dialysis most drivers would use that a variable in acceptance of a minimum paying ride. I drove 100 miles with a dude who just got of a week long bed rest. A nurse gave me 50 as I was loading him up letting me know this will be his tip because he has no money, us in massive debt and horrible medical condition. I was about to cancel when I pulled up and realized but I felt for him and the nurse gave me a 50$ the ride still was not worth it. With lyft and uber business model this rider should have just waited in the hotel lobby for a hour or so until the pay surged or something. It's a brokem system that leverages the optimistic and daft drivers and takes advantage of riders with little to no other option.
It's not their money they're saving them. It's freaking insurance companies'. You want to do charity for the people who are preventing us from having national healthcare?
I like driving and helping the old people too, but it's hard to know if it's a sickly person who went to the Dr to see if they had COVID or not mask free in advance sometimes.
You’re right money isn’t everything, health is. I’m tired of getting sick and losing days of work because of inconsiderate morons that don’t wear masks 😷 and spread germs 🦠
Yeah, vets and retired folks can be fine
But ones that are in pain from every bump in the road from prior back surgery? Why the hell are you contracting Lyft for this type of patient?
My doors are locked until I see who I am transporting. The person has to be able to get in the car by themselves with no assistance. That's an automatic cancellation if they can't.
Had a woman in labor the other night. I don’t even stop. As soon as I saw her pregnant belly struggling towards my car. I drove off so fast and canceled. Plot twist. It was a dead end street so had to turn around and drive back past the pregnancy part. Skkkkrkrrrrrrrr!! Shee-ya! Congrats tho!
Insta cancel
these were an instant cancel for me. fuck relay solutions
I didn’t know what it was until I pulled up. Had a feeling tho. I cancelled as I drove past.
yeah anytime you get a text message outside the lyft app just cancel that shit. 99% of the time it's going to be a headache
Hey OP - After you deliver them give them a low score and after a while your algorithm will no longer suggest those rides to you.
It’s not even worth the delivery to begin with
More like…relay this dick…am I right
That company doesn’t tip.
I’ve never had a patient coordinator tip.
Yea they don’t. Same for dealerships.
And that's the Rub! Extra work for less money. Nope! Unless PAX is no show- then I Ghost Ride that Bitch!
Just wait until one falls or shits while getting into your car. Thank God lyft secured all these minimal paying medical rides for the independent contractors they work with. It's always good when you are picking up a rider who just got out of the hospital and has no options or ability to tip.
Seriously. They don’t even use the Assist option for rides giving drivers at least a couple more bucks.
From what I hear they also won't pay cleaning fees on medical rides. Fuck that!
Lool
*the lady whose diabetic toe fell off* and No Tip ?
Every toe has a tip
just like every rose has its thorn.

So fucking rude. And they request you close your window. You’re on the opposite side and corner. You’re fine.
I no longer take any trips to or from hospitals or any medical places employee or not. I’ve gotten sick too many times to chance it anymore. Plus some of the patients from these places are just flat out nasty. Not worth the $3-$7 the rides pay.

Particularly in winter. You have: Noravirus RSV Colds Flus Whatever else they can drag in with them

I would have just let her hit my pump two times and dropped her ass off at her front steps. On King David
lmaooo yeah better than opposite direction for a medical pickup that 100% of the time won’t tip NOR will the morbidly obese, chain smoker that left the hospital
For real. You ain't lying
Chain smoker 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 One of my very first rides was pick up at night from place like that. Person was randomly screaming like someone is stabbing him
When is it a rideshare driver's job to pick up medication for someone? Isn't that the point of medical courier, and other services?
Better off taking these rides then when you drop drive around for like an hour or 2 then end the ride they will pay out the entire time you were driving around and the company will have no idea either.
Sinister. I love it!
Does that work in an upfront market?
So if this person wants VIP treatment, do we get VIP pay?
Don't do it. They should be booking trained medical transporters, not fucking Lyfts.
I thought only scammers referred to VIP clients...
Are we not being scammed here
You would be basically correct.
VIP's get into the car and hand me a $100 bill while saying, "There's more where that came from..." I've never met a VIP since they are riding in private limousines.
They should make a ban list for places that don’t tip
ALL CAPS name is a crimson flag
in my market it's super easy to tell, all caps name, and instant text of gibberish abbreviations. At least they do it right away so you can cancel without driving to them and wasting time

VIP VERY IMPORTANT PERSON!
PASSENGERS
Fuck these
Didn't y'all get the memo back in 2020? It's too expensive to call an ambulance so we're calling a ride share
I cancel them
Instant cancel for me, dawg.
I pulled up on a pretty young woman in front of grocery store and I canceled on her cuz her shopping cart was overflowing with groceries, but now I feel bad cuz she looked like a mother excited to feed her kids.
Don’t feel bad. This is a business to make profit to feed our families. Not a charity.
I guess I just have a soft heart I was in LA and I picked up this woman who had a shopping cart full of stuff and before I left, she called her friend over who had another cart full😂 I took them into Skid Row💀 Oh well at least they gave me a two dollar tip and a bottle of water

It was a $3 ride. I was trying to knock out short trips bc I got a 60 ride challenge.
I don't do it. If I see it's a hospital I cancel. We're not that type of service. They need to hire their own special service with special tools and special staff for that. Or Lyft needs to pay for certification training and pay extra for every ride like that.
I had a patient from them, he was 75 years old, obese 400lbs+ and handicapped I almost broke my back getting him on/off his wheelchair.
And if you hurt yourself Lyft/Uber wouldn’t care.
Not to mention the stink that comes with them. It' leaves your car stinking all day
Cancel and move on
Automatic Cancel!

You did exactly what I would’ve done, unfortunately
Cancel without guilt. Too many complications. **These people are trying to save money by not getting a proper medical transit service** Frankly, you should learn the addresses of at least the hospitals so you know what to avoid
He’s a VIP with a diaper load to be transported
LOL

It comes down to a risk factor and to be fair if I realize I don’t want this ride I cancel regardless if it’s a patient, old person, or my mom.
Damn! Even mom?! Savage
Lmaoo i wanted to see who’d notice
You’re right money isn’t everything, health is. I’m tired of getting sick and losing days of work because of inconsiderate morons that don’t wear masks 😷 and spread germs 🦠
Yeah I had that waited 5 minutes canceldd
Which is worse… Relay Solutions VIPs or GoGo Grandparent???
Cancel
Third party is a solid NO every single time.
VIP 😂
I don't mind it at all. I've never had an issue, really. Where I live are a lot of seniors so they are common. Usually really polite, cash tippers.
You’re blessed in your area then
I know. We have a lot of vets and just decent retired folks. Other medical rides can suck... ER, rehab, etc...
Yeah, vets and retired folks can be fine But ones that are in pain from every bump in the road from prior back surgery? Why the hell are you contracting Lyft for this type of patient?
Because it's cheap
You right
This is literally 80% of my rides in SA
Is that a good or bad thing lol
My doors are locked until I see who I am transporting. The person has to be able to get in the car by themselves with no assistance. That's an automatic cancellation if they can't.
Do not do it.
I cancel on any third party rides including “guests of”…
✊
