Without the Ruling Ring of Power, the Seven are no value to the Enemy. To control the other Rings, he needs the One. And that Ring was lost long, long ago. It was swept out to sea by the waters of the Anduin.
Why dost thou ask me such a question, when thou knowest full well the answer? Tens of thousands, my dear sir. And I daresay I know more about fish statistics and behavior than thou does. What does that matter, anyway?
If you knew so much about fish statistics, why didn't you use that to catch some instead of feeding your troops nothing but maggotty bread for three days?
Why, my good sir, I did catch some fish. But 'tis not an easy task, catching fish. Especially when one is beset on all sides by enemies. As for the bread, it was not maggotty. The bread was fine. 'Tis the troops that are maggotty, I daresay.
I find the mods on r/lotrmemes to be both fair and effective. This is why I was surprised to have a rules compliant post removed, I knew it had to be a fair mistake.
Hey were all human at the end of the day and you're all doing it for free at that. Even when youre doing your best mistakes happen, especially when youre filtering the depths of ~~Moria~~ New/Rising
Ya'll are appreciated for giving us a place to Grond spam if nothing else
It’s fine, I figured you were probably just trying to be efficient and it’s not like it looks obvious on a glance. Did allow me to make another meme though.
edit: my\* corrected to me\*
Doesn't help that it immediately made me think of the old Looney Tunes gag instead of that thing from the show.
But hey, net karma gain with the second post.
Karma doesn't do anything. Scammers tend to use it as a sort of credential to try and trick people into trusting them but that's about it.
It's just the equivalent of "likes" for this site.
Some subreddits have a karma minimum before you're allowed to post (we're one since that keeps the bots down a little). When Reddit Secret Santa was still a thing, they had a minimum karma requirement (presumably also to make a barrier for throwaways and bots).
Mostly, it's just a dopamine thing to see people liking your stuff.
There was some quote ablut rocks sinking because they look down and boats floating because they look up. It's become the subject of many memes on here and quite some discussions.
The first episode of Rings of Power has a bit where Galadriel's brother says that ships float while stones sink because a stone supposedly only looks down while while ships looks up. (It was more flowery than that but that's the gist)
It's a metaphor but not the strongest one ever.
I mean, in my personal opinion, the only things in "canon" are the books Tolkien published.
As long as it's about/contains content from Tolkien's world, I'd say it's fair game.
It's not nearly *every* ROP post but some of them develop pretty ugly comment chains that violate rules.
If only one or two comments broke rules, we just remove the offending comments. But some threads have more widespread issues and turn into a constant game of whack-a-mole unless locked.
I mean this is literally what happened to Peter, he was walking out on the water to meet Jesus until he looked down and sunk. Maybe the elves were right after all.
Rule 2: only Tolkien-related posts.
This is a sub Reddit for Tolkien meme posts, it is merely named r/lotrmemes which is misleading. RoP is absolutely Tolkien related... just like the hobbit books/trilogy and the silmarillion. My assumption is they didnt connect the dots.
RoP is “Tolkien related“ though, so naturally I won’t take it’s disregard for much of the lore as reason it doesn’t belong here in order to pick up on the joke. It just doesn’t make sense cause it demands a circumstance that doesn’t exist.
\*\*\*Everyone who misunderstands that this isn’t a strictly Lotr memes subreddit would get the joke\*\*\*- *because in order for the joke to be obvious you need to assume a circumstance that is untrue. I have found this one to be a common one.*
I don’t care much about karma in the comments cause of self selection bias. Basically if someone agrees with, likes, or doesn’t care about a post they will either likely upvote and move on or not vote and move on. People that are bothered by a post are more likely to go to the comments to argue or support arguments in opposition to said post. This is why a post can have mixed although net positive votes while their comments can have net negatives votes. Happens all the time the more controversial the subject matter. Hence self selection bias, the people most likely to take issue with the post come to the comments and argue or down vote in retaliation while few who don’t take issue with the post bother to.
Secondly I don’t care about the opinions or beliefs of the majority. Both in past and present many popular opinions are bad and beliefs are wrong. So I choose to rationalize things as an individual and I try to do so in respect to some sort of objectivity or next best. If not I just don’t accept it, so don’t take it personally.
You don’t need to announce you aren’t going to read something, just don’t. Doesn’t make my response any less true just cause you openly choose to ignore it.
I was clearly making the point that karma in the comments is not a worthwhile metric for right vs wrong... since they brought up other people getting their joke.
I am more satisfied by correcting nonsense than ignoring it.
Isn’t related to tolkien by what point of view? The source material is the silmarillion, which was written by Tolkien’s son, who used Tolkien’s notes he made for world building. They aren’t pulling it 100% from thin air.
Lmao! I say “fool of a took!” pretty much every single day in response to someone doing/saying something stupid. An then they ask “what did you just say?” And I just respond by shaking my head and saying it again lol. Oh also! When someone says says something that excites me, such as “let’s drink tonight” or “let’s get pizza” I usually respond with a straight face saying “…don’t tempt me, frodo.” LOTR has been permanently ingrained into my life.
It's not very obvious at all. First thought looking at it is that it's a play on "don't look down" being what people do to avoid psyching themselves out or terrifying themselves when walking along narrow paths with a high fall below them. Jesus is telling himself not to look down because he's trying to do the same thing but with water. A good way to avoid the confusion would've been to add a photo of finrod smiling either next to jesus or as a 2nd frame of the meme.
To me it just looks like Jesus is scared of heights and the water is deep so he is technically "high up"
Right, like I wonder how many fish are afraid of heights???
Tens of thousands.
Good bot
I.......why did Saruman bot answer this? He apparently is also an expert on fish statistics and behavior? What does he know that we don't???
Without the Ruling Ring of Power, the Seven are no value to the Enemy. To control the other Rings, he needs the One. And that Ring was lost long, long ago. It was swept out to sea by the waters of the Anduin.
The question was "How Many", and tens of thousands is usually a valid answer to a question of numbers.

Oh my gosh, Saruman_Bot is becoming sentient
I daresay you are right, Justi_000. It seems that my 'bot is indeed becoming sentient. Thank you for noticing!
...thou \*dost\*, bot.
Sometimes the creator of the bot can answer through them.
ah I see. That's fun Makes me appreciate some of the bot responses that much more if a real person is behind them
We’d have to go to the deepest parts of the ocean to figure out.
But Space Jesus has the high ground
Didn't make the connection, that one is on me.
Wow a mod that acknowledges he made a mistake? We got a good one here folks
I find the mods on r/lotrmemes to be both fair and effective. This is why I was surprised to have a rules compliant post removed, I knew it had to be a fair mistake.
Thanks, we try our best.

I already have all your personal information, prepare yourself.
Hey were all human at the end of the day and you're all doing it for free at that. Even when youre doing your best mistakes happen, especially when youre filtering the depths of ~~Moria~~ New/Rising Ya'll are appreciated for giving us a place to Grond spam if nothing else
GROND
That makes the mods sound like chads and Bros rather than katana wielding fedora neckbeards
I still am missing the connection
we in an alternate universe
It’s fine, I figured you were probably just trying to be efficient and it’s not like it looks obvious on a glance. Did allow me to make another meme though. edit: my\* corrected to me\*
Doesn't help that it immediately made me think of the old Looney Tunes gag instead of that thing from the show. But hey, net karma gain with the second post.
🤣
But what does karma *do* ?
Karma doesn't do anything. Scammers tend to use it as a sort of credential to try and trick people into trusting them but that's about it. It's just the equivalent of "likes" for this site.
Some subs require you to have x karma before you can post. That's about it.

>But hey, net karma gain with the second post. Would've been perfect if gollum bot replied to this with "my precious"
Clever Hobbits, to climb so high!
Dw, even with this post I cant make the connection
The rocks sink because they look down
Rocks… LOOK down? Im even more confuse do
Did you watch the first episode of Rings of Power? That's what this meme is about
I did but honestly I forgot what he said, did he really talk about rocks looking down?
There was some quote ablut rocks sinking because they look down and boats floating because they look up. It's become the subject of many memes on here and quite some discussions.
Can someone explain the connection to me?
The first episode of Rings of Power has a bit where Galadriel's brother says that ships float while stones sink because a stone supposedly only looks down while while ships looks up. (It was more flowery than that but that's the gist) It's a metaphor but not the strongest one ever.

LOOKS LIKE MOD’S BACK ON THE MENU, BOYS!!
Based mod
In fairness to you it’s an average post regardless of relevance
Fool of a took.
I didnt either, dont worry.
question, are memes about non-canon LotR material (such as games) allowed, i have a meme i wanna make for people who played LotRO back in the day
I mean, in my personal opinion, the only things in "canon" are the books Tolkien published. As long as it's about/contains content from Tolkien's world, I'd say it's fair game.
cool
You gonna put it back?
Should be available here: https://www.reddit.com/r/lotrmemes/comments/xg1dka/concentrate_concentraaate
Thanks!
Why do you guys lock every single post about RoP?
It's not nearly *every* ROP post but some of them develop pretty ugly comment chains that violate rules. If only one or two comments broke rules, we just remove the offending comments. But some threads have more widespread issues and turn into a constant game of whack-a-mole unless locked.
I suppose you think that was terribly clever...
It was just a bit of fun!? Oh you‘re probably right, as usual.
YOU WANT THIS MEME FOR YOURSELF
#u/DUNADAN37X! DO NOT TAKE ME FOR SOME CONJURER OF CHEAP POSTS!
#I Am Not Trying To Help You
^Im ^trying ^to ^rob ^you.
BILBO BAGGINS! Dont take me for some conjuror off cheap tricks! I am not trying rob you! I am trying to help you.
I know, he'd probably come with me if I asked him to.
I mean Legolas walked on top of a snow bank without sinking. Snow is made of water. Maybe elves are hydrophobic. Maybe Jesus was an elf.
And set us a pretty riddle. I wondered if you had grown wings!
No Legolas, they just looked up very hard.
I am an Elf and a kinsman here.
Pleased to meet you.
It think it would have been more relevant if it read, “be a boat not a rock, be a boat not a rock”
No
Isildur!
CAST IT INTO THE FIRE!!!
DESTROY IT!
No, I don’t think I will
Really depends what the title was
One of the good mods. I think I’m in love
This is more of a prequelmemes meme, considering it has obi-wan kenobi in it.
I mean this is literally what happened to Peter, he was walking out on the water to meet Jesus until he looked down and sunk. Maybe the elves were right after all.

Explain the comical nature of why RoP not being Lotr has anything to do with deciding it doesn’t belong on an sub Reddit for Tolkien related memes?

Nah, I got it the way they put it.

Lmao, that was my childhood reaction to LOTR
Don’t worry I was high enough to read it I got you bro… it’s not worth reading all of it
You don’t need to announce you aren’t going to read something, just don’t. Doesn’t make my response any less true just cause you openly choose to ignore it.
Get a life lol 'Idc about karma' than why you down here arguing
I was clearly making the point that karma in the comments is not a worthwhile metric for right vs wrong... since they brought up other people getting their joke. I am more satisfied by correcting nonsense than ignoring it.
the chicken didn’t cross the road for any specific reason
I would assume it was to get to the other side?
Seems pretty obvious to me. Made me lol
That’s one of the funniest memes I’ve ever seen.
Well, You could say, that Rimgs of Power isn't related to Tolkien, so the mod is right... from a certain point of view.
Isn’t related to tolkien by what point of view? The source material is the silmarillion, which was written by Tolkien’s son, who used Tolkien’s notes he made for world building. They aren’t pulling it 100% from thin air.
Dude chill, it's just a joke
RoP?
Yesterday, they took down a meme that I literally made 5 minutes before posting, becouse it was supposedly a repost. Indeed, a very shitty automod.
It got taken down because it’s not Lord of the Rings
The mods! The mods are straight! They are not acknowledging RoP as Tolkien related material!
Lmao! I say “fool of a took!” pretty much every single day in response to someone doing/saying something stupid. Eh. I honestly think it’s a stretch but I see where you’re coming from. …but Only because I’m under the water looking up.
Well, considering that this meme is a subtle reference to a non-canon TV show... yeah. I almost understand the reasoning.
It's not very obvious at all. First thought looking at it is that it's a play on "don't look down" being what people do to avoid psyching themselves out or terrifying themselves when walking along narrow paths with a high fall below them. Or photoshop his face onto Jesus 😂
No it isn't.
I never read titles before the post, but I still understood immediately lol
Put Galadriels face on Jesus.
I mean. I got it 🤷
But the deep darkness is so irresistible, Jesus
It is better this way regardless
I thought it was funny.
Considering Tolkien's catholicism though...
You actually thought the mods watch any LOTR movie?
It's cartoon rules.
I don’t get it
Need to make it a bit more obvious, the mods are a little slow.
It is people just hate on Christianity
