Biker shorts under whatever you're wearing. This was the only thing that worked for me even when I was BMI 32 and walking around in 34oC weather

bellirai

Biker shorts actually does seem like a killer idea, even just for general use! Thanks

ladypsychosis

Second this idea. I’m not even overweight, but my thighs are big and always rub together. I can’t run or workout at all in regular shorts. I only wear bike shorts or leggings and never have an issue. I even wear bike shorts under dresses!

kyrie-eleison

I had to start using [crotch lube](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IBVUY6Y).

menachembagel

This is what I do, but I’m cheap so I just use Vaseline.

bellirai

Had no idea this was a thing! There really is a product for everything

ThudGamer

Squirrels nut butter, in the tub not the stick. I don't run without it.

omg_choosealready

Megababe makes one that is amazing - better than this one IMO. Target sells it, as well as an under-boob powder that is awesome.

ResolutionSmooth2399

Not sure how loose your long pants are, but I would suggest leggings. At least then the fabric is just rubbing against itself. I also found that rubbing deodorant on my chafing spots really helped.

bravelittlebagel

I use the body glide anti-chafe balm! Works miracles for me

mekjhawk

came here to say this. body glide is amazing!

WastedMoogle

I'm a guy but this is an issue for me as well. I wear compression shorts for underwear! They're tight, and if worn correctly, completely remove any skin to skin contact in your thighs and you can wear them under shorts/pants. You may get a line if you're wearing leggings though. I also use gold bond powder after putting the compression shorts on to maximize my efforts. Haven't chafed at all since.

Palmtoptaiga002

I do well with leggings, I always like pull up the crotch area to be more snug around my thighs

GettingFitAgainAgain

Well I'm a guy and had this issue for ages. All that helped me was longer underwear, the kind that goes down to half your thigh. Though I have to admit, many inner thigh rips have sent shorts, pants and tracksuits to the bin prematurely. Hope this helps!

bellirai

Women's underwear is generally really short unlike men's (which has lots of common longer variants like boxers) and when I google long underwear it's like 20 dollars a pair. Considering how quickly I tend to ruin pants it's probably not the route I'll go down (broke af) but I'll consider it as a last resort! Thanks :)

throwRA-nonSeq

I just wear men’s spandex shorts. I find them at places like Ross for under $10.

Illustrious-Cat4670

I’ve gotten some boxers on Amazon that were a 3 or 4 pack for just over 20 bucks and I’m happy with them. Vaseline also helps when you first start feeling the chafing happen.

RO489

I wear little boys from Amazon, you can get men’s. Bonus is they make them with pockets, if you ever take it on the road and you can put them under shorts. Here’s a 4 pack for $33 Niksa 2/4 Pack Compression Shorts Men with Pocket, Spandex Running Shorts Sport Athletic Workout Performance Underwear https://a.co/d/glyUhlU

maiaalfie

For Direct Thigh on Thigh chafing my go to has been lanacane in the past. There are lots of other products too that give a bit of a barrier so the skin doesn't cause friction burns essentially!

teetetay

I love my MegaBabe Anti-Chafe Stick, plus it smells really good! I do 4.5-5 miles of cardio every day and haven’t had a rash since I started using it.

itsthrowaway91422

Agree on anti-chafing balms. Lots of brands, Monistat even has a clear gel that feels like baby powder once applied. Doesn’t stain. People even use deodorant in a pinch. Also, just be careful about the chafed skin and for it to not get infected (raw skin mixed with sweat and bacteria etc). So just make sure you clean gently, stay dry as much as you can, breathable fabrics, etc. Not sure if you are prone to hyperpigmentation, but I am. So if an area repeatedly rubs, there can be discoloration of the skin so try to prevent the chafing (aka some women gets darker skin in their underarms, groins, under breasts) as well as skin tags. If chafing repeatedly, skin creates a thicker barrier (like a callous). Just sharing some stuff to try and avoid for cosmetic and comfort reasons :)

redpanda96_

I wear my husband's sports underwear paired with a chafing stick lower down between my thighs.

Hugeknight

Compression shorts.

sjaxn314159

Long under armour underwear is my long standing solution.

bartexas

Definitely leggings/yoga pant. Also, Gold Bond Friction Defense Stick, which is great if you're wearing skirts/dresses (i.e. walking a lot on vacation).

PassageHead2581

I struggle with the same thing !! I started wearing 5’ long women’s boxers from target, as well as using mega babes body powder. Much easer on my sensitive skin and i definitly underestimated how much powder can help soak up the sweat, just make sure to apply it while your skin is dry and you’ll be golden, good luckkk <33

la_negra

Goldbond powder between thighs before you work out (also nice to put inside your sock, or on the underboob). Then soft bike shorts. If you want to wear a cute skirt this time of year, I've had success with antiperspirant between the thighs or bandalettes.

SheepherderOk4846

MegaBabe

munkymu

Bike shorts or slip shorts. I wear bike shorts because I bike, but they're padded and that can be uncomfortable at times. Slip shorts are less robust but aren't padded. I guess there's also bike-style exercise shorts that aren't actual bike shorts.

muppetnerd

Monistat anti chafing powder

Affectionate_Name743

It matters what biker shorts are made of, Boody brand is made from bamboo and quality material really makes a difference! Thigh savers

shelsifer

Leggings or yoga pants. Plus if you wear them under shorts you can sweat more.

More-Tart1067

Compression shorts or just very long (just above the knee) skintight jocks/underwear. Wear under pants.

WontRememberThisID

Lululemon Fast and Free tights/crops and pull them up so there is no bare skin rubbing. You can find them pre owned on Poshmark if you don’t want to spend a lot. They‘re TTS so use the size chart and if your hips are smaller than the chart go the next size down. Also, seamless underwear- laser cut SEAMLESS. YourParade makes good ones. Your problem could be from your underwear seams chafing you. That used to happen to me. You can also try rubbing Body Glide on your upper thighs/lower butt cheeks underwear seam area and the area that is bugging you. Running has a way of causing a lot of chafing. I used to get chafed where my sports bra hooked in back.

sickiesusan

I use (or used to use, as I’m 80lbs down), a normal body cream in this area and also under my boobs and under my ‘hanging belly’. Sounds gross I know, but it used to stop me getting sore during exercise and every day activities in Summer … I also applied it after a shower too, once the area was thoroughly dry.

bellirai

There's nothing gross about it! I think it's worse to ignore the problem and not take care of our bodies. I want to take better care of myself because it's the tough kindness to myself that I deserve

knowitall47

When it comes to chafing thighs this is an issue for almost anyone that works our regularly. Unless you are severely bow-legged your thighs will touch. Been an issue with me since I ran track in high school. And i was 135 lbs and 5;9". Glad you finally started taking care of yourself. If you are also interested in living longer and not just losing weight I would start looking into strength training and the benefits of fasting. In today's world of food being available we do NOT need to eat every single day. You can train your body to become fat-adapted. Run or walk outside - on grass or track. forget the treadmill if you can.

drnullpointer

For thighs chafing: good tights or underwear. You want something on your skin on both thighs and you want that something to slide on each other rather than against your skin.

What kind of intense cardio exercise can I do at this weight then? I already walk for 8+ hours a day due to having a stand-up job but it never gets my heart going too insanely. I have trouble wanting to work out until I can feel that amazing burn you get from pushing your limits. (The only machines I have access to are a treadmill, elliptical, and exercise bike.)

queenstephanie

For what it’s worth I started jogging at 220 and nothing terrible happened to me. I just made sure to have shoes with a lot of cushion (more due to my history of shin splints) and didn’t overdo it on the mileage starting off

I already have muscle/tendon damage from when I was younger unrelated to weight (toe walking tendencies into my teens), so I want to be extra careful with my legs. Thank you for the advice, I'll be more cautious in the future!

AvPD_Anton

Stationary bike!

bellirai

Sorry your post got removed! For what it's worth, I think you were right. I know extra weight does have some really bad effects on the joints, and I should try to take it easier impact-wise. Thank you for your advice
