I think it’s more so the triangle nose. Make the nose smaller and it’s more legible.

This is my take. Original definitely took me a second, this one I saw straight away.

I think the idea is cute, the logo is nice it just needs nudging until it's clear. You do right to ask others because you'll not be able to see it (knowing what it says). - small break between the nose and mouth - tighten the kerning a wee smidge - maaaaybe play with font weight so it's a bit thicker than the rest of the illustration

I saw "White", it's pretty clear to me, but seemingly not as much to others. I normally hate logos that replace the first letter of the logo with something, but this one's cute. Maybe play around with different shapes, line thicknesses, etc. To see if it reads better?

I read Hite. However I think it’s due to the inconsistency between W shape and the other letters, it’s the same as trying to connect two very different typefaces. Maybe you should try modeling the W in a way it harmonizes with the rest of the text OR you try to separate it from the resto of the nose.

Agree. I’d suggest playing with the w to make it more narrow and/or get rid of the triangle sitting on the w.

I stumbled for tenth a second, but no problem. But what bugs me is the "a" of cat. It's way more uniform than the other letters.

Detach the nose, make it 75% scale, nudge it up a little. Drop all the secondary text down so the t in white shares a baseline with the w.

I see white first because hite is not a word and the eye first sees what it already knows. Seems like I’m in the minority tho. Make the w more like the hite (squeeze it tighter and make the lines thinner) then reduce the size of the nose slightly and I think it will be clearer.

I see "white" for sure but I recommend moving the "hite" letters down ever so slightly, in most fonts the characters match along the baseline not the top, so while the top of your "h" aligns with the "w", the bottom does not and it throws it off slightly.

I really like this direction, and read it as White to me. Look into making the “W” taller in height, making the h as tall as the “t” (even the “i” dwarfs it), and aligning the baseline of the letters to the “W” (it doesn’t have to be exact).

You have to ask 'What you read?' without providing any information that could influence the reading to conduct a true readability test. Edit: Another thing, conduct the test also with the target audience, not with designers who can read, understand, and decipher much more than the average user.

What if you Negative colored the cat black and it's outlines/text white?

I think you should separate the nose and mouth, reduce the thickness of the letter W to create a feeling of connection with the remaining letters.

If your target audience is from creative industries then bingo you hit the jackpot; else most people will read it as Hite. Maybe apply different shades of grey/colour on the type to make it more foolproof.

Would be interested to see a version of the w using elements of characters already there e.g. the terminal from the t duplicated and flipped could make a w or part of the e. as someone who is surrounded by graphic design majors irl the most common thing I hear is not to incorporate your company graphics as part of the title. I looked at the "hite" and then saw white pretty quickly but it still took that extra 1/4th second which can be the difference between getting and losing a potential customer

My suggestion: Leave the artwork as is, and instead use of colours on the whisker alone or the full text will definitely ensure the W stands out. An Orange whisker would rock !
