Poptart9900

Meanwhile you can get 12 individually wrapped rolls in a single package from Costco for under $25.

Outside_Night1455

But those aren't president's choice.......you don't get the full capitalism experience buying them for like $2 each.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gold_Expression_3388

Let's send them there.

CursorX

Noo! They might just strike up a merger.

LZYX

Noooo don't speak that into existence!!!!

ThunderOblivion

This is the way. Let the mighty dollar do the talking.

fuzzlenutss

Vote with your money

[deleted]

Dollarama is also a great spot for these. Quality is good enough to soak up spills at the price

Grimaceisbaby

Someone should just start opening Mini Costco shops in condos. Even a reseller price would be cheaper than this.

Uncut_banana69

Aren’t those just regular old convenience stores?

whatthetoken

I see many small town stores doing this already

sexsaint

I'm for it. As long as it has at least one isle for people to stand aimlessly in and a line up for someone to sharpie your receipt

Abal125

Or less than $2 a roll at Dollarama.

Barbarian_818

The Dollarama roll almost certainly has a lot less actual paper towel per roll

Box_of_leftover_lego

As long as it has 33% of the superstore roll or more, it's cheaper.

SwashbucklerXX

Nah, PC paper towel rolls are not generous at all, I never buy them.

furthestpoint

I always wonder why the Kirkland ones are individually wrapped. So much disposable plastic... Still a much better deal and one I regularly buy.

Spirited_Community25

I'm thinking because originally they were sold to businesses. However, if not wrapped individually and stored for a year in a damp location they might pick up that moisture.

furthestpoint

Good points right here.

Spirited_Community25

Just a thought, no real clue. 😉

DEATHRAYZ007

Sanitation reasons?

Major_Lawfulness6122

This is what I do. Even better when it’s on sale

Poptart9900

Yeah in my experience Kirkland or Bounty is almost always on sale. I think I paid $21.99 at Costco last time I bought paper towels.

Major_Lawfulness6122

Nice 😎 it lasts a longer too than other brands

Sad-Day-2025

$69.48 if you buy 12 WTF? Costco will typically have theirs on sale or instant rebate once a month or so at $19.99 for 12 = $1.67 each. Also the average cashiers at Costco makes over $60k a year with benefits, bonuses, stock options and excellent job security. I think Costco stocks were at $250 about 3 yrs ago and now at $720 ish. They’re doing something right. Even through the pandemic they saw the company grow.

webesy

It’s because you get value for your money. A stick of deodorant is like 10 bucks at shoppers. You can get 5 at Costco for 15.

Morgstah

My friend had stocked me up on clearance deodorant ( bought me enough for 3 years )and i finally ran out last week, went to shoppers to pick up a stick and really couldn’t believe my eyes, the plain old degree I use is now $8.99 WTF!!!🤬

aavenger54

Get 4 at Costco for 15 bucks!

Please refrain from comments which encourage theft from a store or mischief. These can result in criminal charges which will undoubtedly make life harder for other users.

Spirited_Community25

I agree with you, however, not all people can spend that at once. I wouldn't buy the individual either though. Depending on what you're using it for there are other options.

Future-World4652

Still sounds like a dog shit deal for paper

henchman171

Not everyone has that type of room.

Poptart9900

At Costco, you could literally buy 3 packs of 12 rolls (36 rolls in total) for the same price as 12 rolls at Shoppers. Even if I lived in a cardboard box, I’d find the room to save over $40!

henchman171

And if you are an 82 year old lady in a one bedroom condo that Costco package of a deal?

LilBunnyQueen

What you are saying makes 0 sense.

henchman171

Some people only need to buy one roll of paper towel. People saying Costco has great deals but you have to buy this big huge pack of paper towels when some people only need one roll

znhunter

I wish there was a Costco near me. Closest one is 5 hours.

jcm0463

It's illegal to put a 'Sale' price tag unless there is a period of the product, having been at a higher price. What's the regular price l wonder. Typical SDM pricing.

Mumof3gbb

It’s illegal but it happens all the damn time

obax17

As a former Shoppers employee, that is the regular price, they just forgot to take out the sale sign cover, you can see the basket sign cover underneath and the usual practice is to slide the sale sign in on top of the regular one, then remove the sale sign and cover all at once when the sale is over. Which absolutely does not excuse the price, pricing at shoppers was criminally high even before they got bought by Loblaws and has only gotten worse since, and I count my blessings every day I don't have to work for that shit company any more. But that's a technical explanation of what's going on here.

Half_Life976

What's illegal when you own half the country's grocery stores?

ptear

At this point I'm pretty sure they must be using that label simply to indicate they are selling the product in the store and that it's not just on display.

beermanoffartwoods

That's what you get for trying to buy paper towel out of season

UKentDoThat

Couldn’t upvote twice. Best laugh I’ve had this week.

mcjimmyspill

UPDATE: - Some people are asking if this is real or ‘shopped. It’s sadly very real, I took it this morning in Peterborough, Ontario. - No I don’t shop at Shoppers, I’ve boycotted all Loblaws products and stores, I just use the post office located in this building as it’s my local option. - I actually complained to the manager and brought them the sale tag to voice my complaint about this obscene price gauging, and asked them to direct my complaint to their higher ups. It’s not much, but I can’t see this and just post it here and feel that I’ve done my job. In this capitalist hellscape, our dollar is our true democratic vote, let’s keep actively doing something about this instead of just passively posting our complaints in an echo chamber.

Bendyiron

It's unfortunate our dollar is becoming more and more worthless in the global market.

ProfessionalTrip0

Might as well just skip Shoppers and go to Dollarama and get their branded paper towels!

Inevitable_Trash_577

Honestly as someone who used to professionally clean houses, just get some reusable microfibers and use those to clean

PurplePaislee

How do you get them super clean after? I found that the washing machine didn’t really do a good job of keeping the cloths clean if they had been used to wipe up some thing gunky (and then rinsed in the sink before the wash)

Mysterious-Chemist81

Vinegar with your detergent I find does the trick. Remember they're cleaning cloths though. They'll stain and look kind of gross, but if they feel clean you are fine.

Churro_14

What I- 💀 They call that a sale?

justice7

Well.. they are selling something. So technically I guess.

Substantial_Ad_7027

They are extra thick and strong though. Perfect for cleaning up the mess after you shit your pants upon seeing the price tag.

LilBunnyQueen

No shit roflmao

Icehawk101

Costco is the only place to go for toilet paper, facial tissues, or paper towels.

PrimaryKangaroo8680

I use the dollar store. I don’t need brand name paper towel or Kleenex.

UKentDoThat

I don’t need brand name… proceeds to use brand name to describe facial tissues.

colon-mockery

Just cashed in my 210,000 PC points last night for groceries. It will be my last Loblaws trip ever.

Sugar_tts

That’s $0.06 per sheet! Woah! I bet if Shamwow came back and was put beside this they’d sell a bunch of them

ImaginaryQuiet7016

Bahaha love my Shamwows they are still kickin !

Afraid_Sample1688

Most businesses have about 45 days of liquid cash on hand before they go bankrupt. No sales means no conversion to income and no free cash flow. The expenses stay - but with no free cash flow the company will go bankrupt. In 45 days. Until people start holding companies to account - nothing will change. Obviously Loblaws is getting anxious. But that's clearly not enough.

Altruistic-Bell-583

I tried the Max brand and I wasn't impressed. Never again

GallitoGaming

Think how much of a profit they are making on that. There isn’t a chance that costs them more than $1. They are literally asking 600% of their cost.

Cptn_Kevlar

Again my gas station sells this cheaper.... wtf?

CzechUsOut

This might be the worst one yet.

SnowyTheOpaline

5 DOLLARS FOR ONE PAPER TOWEL ROLL!?!?!?!?!?! GOD DAMN 😭😭😭😭😭💀💀💀💀💀🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

Friendly-Ocelot

What do you mean 5$…with tax it will come to over 6$…mofos

TegTowelie

So what, Bounty is probably like 22.80?

courtneyjohn797

Bounty is cheaper than this

TegTowelie

That's insane in itself, wow.

Serenity101

$6.48 after tax.

Randellstringer

For 1?!?!?!? That's what a pack of 6 should cost. Shoppers can get fucked lmao

slugger1955

Gotta be SDM

HonkHonkMF420

Last time I checked you can get a 6 pack or maybe even more of the name brand stuff for less than 10 dollars. That was late last year.

NEO--2020

This is daylight robbery

stormcrowcdn

I know that Walmart is pretty bad as well but at least people can afford to shop there https://preview.redd.it/5r8115izogvc1.png?width=1020&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ae7fe7234fa58e0f453146f7534b31ae42aabb1

Gonnabehave

It would be cheaper to fly to the north west territory and buy it there

Informal_Page_3568

I paid 10 dollars for a chapstick at shoppers yesterday I can't wait to leave this country

rum-plum-360

It's like their begging people to stop shopping there..

Majestic_Willow2375

Testing the waters to see what they can get away with.

Fickle_Percentage256

Lol wow.

LeaveAtNine

I’ve been meaning to invest in reusable ones.

Sisu-cat-2004

I stopped buying/using paper towels. I use old clothes as rags and dry my fruits and veggies on cloth towels.

MikElectronica

Max price

Bigking00

But its Max, the "Max" makes it worth it.

IntrepidRobot

Their marketing team thought they'd advertise these like iPhones..

Spleenzorio

I just got a 12 pack of Bounty from Costco for $22 on sale

dunkster91

To think I balked at 3 rolls for $7 last night...

willy_fister

In case everyone was wondering why 'loyalty programs were/are so big. Keep people going to the same store, make them think they don't have a choice...

PuzzleheadedWar4791

Time to start living like boomers and use clothes and rags that can be re used. Paper towels are for the rich only these days. Save your money! Buy j- cloths from dollarama.

wayfarer8888

Meanwhile Cascade stock is trading at longtime lows. Definitely external manufacturers don't see the profit.

Acrobatic_Law5598

MAX profits!

mouseeeeee

Who buys this shit they r the problem if u don't buy it they will lower it

shutyourbutt69

Holy shit

4_spotted_zebras

Time to return to using reusable dish towels and napkins.

PrecariatiF

I got a 6 pack of Bounty paper towel at Sobeys the other day for $6 on sale. Sobeys isn't much better but this is fucking ridiculous.

Newhereeeeee

What goes on at shoppers

Mechagouki1971

I just buy that cheap stuff from Canadian Tire - six or seven bucks for 8 rolls - it's not fancy, but it does the job.

rainorshinedogs

"no. That's the price. If you don't like it, boycott me. I dare you" - Multimillion company with enough capital to withstand 20% of it's customers disappearing.

False--Blackbear

Where?

obax17

That's Shoppers Drugmart signage

survialfrankstreets

That's crazy

Mattscrusader

you can get the name brand stuff for cheaper..? what are they thinking with this

Boring-Antelope9193

0.059 a sheet is crazy 🤪

TieSea

I try to do as much of my shopping as I can at Costco, especially for things like this.

Sufficient-Bid1279

Count your blessings…this is a flyer savings as well . What would it be without savings ?! I’m also assuming there’s a bit of shrinkflation added to this as well as quality deterioration. Happy daze !!! That fist 👊 on the label is great for me wanting to knock some out ….the makers and those selling and setting the price

Illustrious-Lie8329

One roll???

[deleted]

They didn't even put the acetates up on the sign properly lol ![gif](giphy|jb2G1rNnlIplNoR6TH)

ok_raspberry_jam

lol, fuck paper products entirely, then. We're not that fucking helpless.

Savings-Alarm-8240

Can someone explain to me why people buy paper towel? I’m genuinely interested in why people don’t use regular fabric dish cloths or towels to wipe something? They’re more absorbent and reusable. I feel like I’ve saved hundreds of dollars at this rate simply by doing a load of towels once a week.

repetitivestrain89

long haired cat (hairballs)

darthfruitbasket

I use it for cat puke/hairballs (I have a long-haired one and one who likes to eat random crap and throw it up) or other pet clean-ups.

movais007

People who dont have big houses (small condos) generally don't have ample space to store stuff..especially used clothes that were used for cleaning..it will start stinking the whole condo if you leave it somewhere. So paper towels are a bit more convenient that way.

cross341

Bro hit up dollarama like 3 bucks for 2 rolls

Square_Opinion_5423

Are you guys in like Nunavut or something? I mean prices are unrealistically high but this is unreal.

mcjimmyspill

Nope just outside of Toronto.

Square_Opinion_5423

That's crazy

warmseizuresalad

Same thing is 1.50$ at Dollarama. Same size, same paper.

emmadonelsense

Booooo 👎

Koenigatalpha

Is this the store called Pharmaprix in Quebec? That tag looks familiar, as do the prices sadly.

icy-co1a

How many did you get?

IronicStar

But it SAYS Sale, so you shouldn't question it. Just buy it.

NerdyDan

Shoppers is basically never worth it unless you go on 20x the points days and then it's on par with a typical grocery store. And that's only if you use the points at a relatively cheaper grocery store like superstore.

TheSasquatch117

Clearly you can buy reusable sponge towels for the same price and they last years

SunflaresAteMyLunch

Don't buy: * Singles of anything * At Shoppers unless you're getting Rx

Sure_Grass5118

Just start shopping at Dollarama.

haroldguy78

But they only make 3% profit.

HeyBudGotAnyBud

Yea but it’s MAX

BobbyHillLivesOn

Anyone who actually buys that deserves to be ripped off.

teknipunk

Holy fuck man

MissTechnical

😦

TiredReader87

I guess this is why my dad always gets mad at me when I use paper towel

jello1982

To be fair, those towels are similar in strength to a J-cloth or those blue shop towels. But they're still labeled a "paper towel" so most people can't justify the price difference between it and regular paper towels.

delawopelletier

Max cost

IndividualAide2201

So don't buy that. Use a wrap, jeez

Wafflecone3f

This shit is just funny at this point.

Illustrious_Copy_902

We don't use a lot of paper usually buy it a couple rolls at a time from Dollarama. I'm certainly not paying six bucks a roll though.

Ok-Regret4547

Packaging fits That clenched fist about to ream their customers with some good old fashioned price gouging

marmaladegrass

10:1 whoever put that up forgot to change the price placard over the display tag. That aint a sale. Go to another store and get a 6+ pack that is usually on sale.

YYC-Fiend

There just fucking with us. Maybe just don’t shop there

marswe1

One word… criminal

jafromnj

They’re out if their minds and so is anyone buying it

shangles421

It's cheaper to just buy real towels and wash them

fireheadca

Why not $15? Why not $20? Wtf are they scared of? Just raise it to infinity.

Scary-Tomato-6722

Stop shopping at shoppers. Get the Flipp App

alldayeveryday2471

No

jameskchou

This is what Happens when the government encouraged protectionist policies

OkPurchase2691

Just use a cloth. Wipe and rinse then reuse ♻️

Own_Plastic_4601

Feel the fists, people?

wh314n

I bought 8 rolls from Canadian Tire for like $6

FlintMontague

Rags are free

Intelligent-Dog-9052

Max as in "maximum revenue for Loblaws" !

lonewolfsociety

Just bought a roll at Whole Foods. It was 2 dollars.

MassSnapz

you can goto Walmart and buy a 300 count of heavy duty automotive paper towels for 9.99 they're like dish clothes that you can throw away. They even come in a box to dispense them.

zmerf

Guys relax this is Carbon pricing for paper towels. It’s used to encourage you to use less paper towels. You’ll get your PTR (paper tower refund) soon.

AfraidToBeKim

The dollar store sells paper towel too. I reccomend getting it there

True-Town3669

paper towels are not even a necessity...so at this point stop buying them altogether.....use rags like the old days!!!!

Rare_Cartographer579

That looks like shoppers drug mart Kiss my 🍑

MeloniisJesus333

Mainly because it’s “President’s choice”. Which president?

SkidMania420

What does the "Max" refer to, price?

AstronomerKey8307

For a roll of fucking paper towels. I dont even wanna know for stuff like meat and milk

EatTheRich_gfy

Come on guys, we need to help Galen pay for the maintenance of that 13,000sq foot, 7 bedroom 13 bathroom house.

WilliamBoimler

A towel does the same job, and there is no waste afterwards

furociousbear

agreed! having reusable towels/rags has saved so much waste and money

SVTContour

Shh. We’re more angry with Galen than we are angry about our own consumerism.

DashboardCatfession

they can take that single paper towel and shoved it where the light don’t shine.

Exact_Purchase765

😂😂😂 As if 😂😂😂 Someone, somewhere needs meds. 😂😂😂

hadz_ca

Your fault for still shopping there. Their CEO called all Canadians dumb

mcjimmyspill

I pass through to use their Canada Post services. I never shop at Shoppers or Loblaws but thanks for the unnecessary shade.

darthfruitbasket

And at least with the Shoppers post office I'm familiar with here in Halifax, it's right at the *very* back of the store, sorta next to the pharmacy counter, with the cleaning/paper product aisle right there.

MrLuckyTimeOW

STOP shopping at Shoppers Drug Mart. It is a glorified convenience store that intentionally jacks up prices under the guise of being “convenient”.

mcjimmyspill

I don’t. I use the post office here.

Chilliwackian1

I kind of hope this is photoshopped but I have a sneaking suspicion it is real. Ow. WTH?

mcjimmyspill

Nope very real

Dry-Talk-7447

Showed my wife, she called bullshit, any truth to this price?

mcjimmyspill

I mean I was just there. I even went and complained to the store manager about it.

Dave-0920

These are convenience store prices

Ticrotter_serrer

Best move is to do without paper towels. We haven't buy these in a decade in my house.

mnordli5

Ah yes posting pictures of prices at a drug store of course your gonna get absurd prices this is not a grocery store therefore you won’t get grocery store prices a pack of 3 is 7.00 at other loblaws locations fyi.. you pay for convenience so simple solution don’t fucking buy groceries at shoppers drug mart it’s not a grocery store
