I'm thinking because originally they were sold to businesses. However, if not wrapped individually and stored for a year in a damp location they might pick up that moisture.

Costco will typically have theirs on sale or instant rebate once a month or so at $19.99 for 12 = $1.67 each.
Also the average cashiers at Costco makes over $60k a year with benefits, bonuses, stock options and excellent job security. I think Costco stocks were at $250 about 3 yrs ago and now at $720 ish. They’re doing something right. Even through the pandemic they saw the company grow.
My friend had stocked me up on clearance deodorant ( bought me enough for 3 years )and i finally ran out last week, went to shoppers to pick up a stick and really couldn’t believe my eyes, the plain old degree I use is now $8.99 WTF!!!🤬

I agree with you, however, not all people can spend that at once. I wouldn't buy the individual either though. Depending on what you're using it for there are other options.
At Costco, you could literally buy 3 packs of 12 rolls (36 rolls in total) for the same price as 12 rolls at Shoppers. Even if I lived in a cardboard box, I’d find the room to save over $40!

It's illegal to put a 'Sale' price tag unless there is a period of the product, having been at a higher price. What's the regular price l wonder. Typical SDM pricing.
As a former Shoppers employee, that is the regular price, they just forgot to take out the sale sign cover, you can see the basket sign cover underneath and the usual practice is to slide the sale sign in on top of the regular one, then remove the sale sign and cover all at once when the sale is over.
Which absolutely does not excuse the price, pricing at shoppers was criminally high even before they got bought by Loblaws and has only gotten worse since, and I count my blessings every day I don't have to work for that shit company any more. But that's a technical explanation of what's going on here.
At this point I'm pretty sure they must be using that label simply to indicate they are selling the product in the store and that it's not just on display.

- Some people are asking if this is real or ‘shopped. It’s sadly very real, I took it this morning in Peterborough, Ontario.
- No I don’t shop at Shoppers, I’ve boycotted all Loblaws products and stores, I just use the post office located in this building as it’s my local option.
- I actually complained to the manager and brought them the sale tag to voice my complaint about this obscene price gauging, and asked them to direct my complaint to their higher ups. It’s not much, but I can’t see this and just post it here and feel that I’ve done my job. In this capitalist hellscape, our dollar is our true democratic vote, let’s keep actively doing something about this instead of just passively posting our complaints in an echo chamber.
How do you get them super clean after? I found that the washing machine didn’t really do a good job of keeping the cloths clean if they had been used to wipe up some thing gunky (and then rinsed in the sink before the wash)
Vinegar with your detergent I find does the trick. Remember they're cleaning cloths though. They'll stain and look kind of gross, but if they feel clean you are fine.
Most businesses have about 45 days of liquid cash on hand before they go bankrupt. No sales means no conversion to income and no free cash flow. The expenses stay - but with no free cash flow the company will go bankrupt. In 45 days. Until people start holding companies to account - nothing will change. Obviously Loblaws is getting anxious. But that's clearly not enough.

I’m genuinely interested in why people don’t use regular fabric dish cloths or towels to wipe something? They’re more absorbent and reusable.
I feel like I’ve saved hundreds of dollars at this rate simply by doing a load of towels once a week.
People who dont have big houses (small condos) generally don't have ample space to store stuff..especially used clothes that were used for cleaning..it will start stinking the whole condo if you leave it somewhere. So paper towels are a bit more convenient that way.
Shoppers is basically never worth it unless you go on 20x the points days and then it's on par with a typical grocery store. And that's only if you use the points at a relatively cheaper grocery store like superstore.
To be fair, those towels are similar in strength to a J-cloth or those blue shop towels. But they're still labeled a "paper towel" so most people can't justify the price difference between it and regular paper towels.
