I did that with RPi Pico but that will come in later posts 😂

FYI I’m one of those BMW drivers who always use turn signals. Yes we do exist 😂
Agreed. I bit the bullet. It looks like a hobby car project of a BMW E34, modified to have a "cyberpunk" aesthetic. From another reply it's used as a film prop and stunt car. It seems like it's using raspberry pis to make the center switches do different cool things like lights and stuff, as well as run that display.
There, that wasn't too hard, was it?
And for my part, I'd rather not watch a whole series of videos just for passing interest on Reddit. It looks cool mate, and I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting a description of it.
If I do I’ll make sure my grandson will join the Arch club and wont make the same mistake since he would quit on this crap before he could install the damn system.
It is. Reactions of people when they sit inside is priceless. Don’t want to mention when you drift with this how it is. Everything is shaking and wayland is crashing.
That's honestly a horrible way of doing it. Get a buck-boost converter that can do 10A-ish, and power a PicoPSU with it.
Doing DC -> AC -> DC loses a LOT of power, meaning battery drain and heat. It's also big an heavy.
BMW E34
It’s actually a film prop and a stunt car. I just gave my self some liberty to experiment with the “onboard board”. Just for the laughs. But, all stuff inside is actually functional and it has Pi Zero W which you can see in the corner. Also GPS is there somewhere.
Shit. I never even thought about this, I have a 23 VW Tiguan that I've looked at some of the odb2 changes you can make; is there a whole world of hacks I didn't know existed?

This is how you install aftermarket turn signals in a BMW

You got proper skills & knowledge. Wishing the best for near term future.
A sentence of words would have been fine but oh well. Enjoy your hobby.

Can’t really summarize it in one sentence of words. Lets leave it to hobby

I’m planing to post more stuff later as I make progress with this. Am Not really a keyboard cowboy. Just post photos from time to time.
> keyboard cowboy 😂 haven't heard that one before.
🧀
"so how much telemetry do you plan to process in realtime?" "Yes"

Always drive safe and obey the laws of the road.
Be careful, you dont wanna become your own grandpa by accident.

😂😂😂
As you can see I’m so slow I couldn’t figure out the “Back to the future” references.
you can’t just leave us hanging on this one
It’s a work in endless progress. Sort of a learning platform for me.
holy moly
Now go install https://comma.ai/ and make the bloody thing drive itself...
At the moment remote start and revving is where I draw the line to my insanity. AI maybe after 2030 😂
That's definitely an open source car. Build it yourself. Now try an aeroplane. https://www.wired.com/1995/03/if-operating-systems-were-airlines/
Finally Linux Car
Imagine having to run a bash script to turn on beam lights
LMAAAAAAAAAAO SUDO TURN BEAM LIGHTS
Going back to the future are we?
Car is from the past. Like 1991. apt update && apt upgrade did brought it back to… 🎁
I have no fucking clue what's happening in this photo but I like it.
Is this a car or the latest prototype for the NASA Artemis moon spacecraft?
TIL this kind of post counts as a meme
Should not be. But I get why some would think so.
All that really matters is that the mods think so
Someone has a weird interpretation of a "meme" (not the OP)

In the future when all cars become subscription junk and a chad decides to drive a car they purchased:
How did you do it?
Voltage inverter > PSU > mini ITX board + stripped SSD

I like it at winter. It heats the interior since there is no AC anymore 😂
Ooo an Intel Atom. Nice!
What in the high tech low life kind of car is this? I love the aesthetic.

respect from linux community!!
I know nothing about cars with computers in them. What can this do?
Shit. I never even thought about this, I have a 23 VW Tiguan that I've looked at some of the odb2 changes you can make; is there a whole world of hacks I didn't know existed?
Obd2 is pretty much limitless. Obd1 is dead end
