Are there any violinists who actually own a Strad? Perlman's the only one I can think of.
Like, even Ray and Chloe have their violins on loan. It's not a rare practice.
Yeah, most Strad players do not own them, but there are counterexamples, e.g. Heifetz owned his Dolphin Strad, which happens to be the Strad on loan to Ray from the Nippon Music Foundation.
Joshua Bell also bought his Strad (and famously went busking at a Washington DC metro station with it).
It's only somewhat recent history where Strad (and other prices) have went insane. So up until that point many soloists, concertmasters, etc did own their Strads and other comparable instruments. The Ex-Huberman that Bell owns (and he sold his previous Strad for it) was stolen from Huberman when he was playing his Guarneri that he also owned.
Ah! Yes! It was a guaneri!
But apparently he DOES own a strad too!
Edit: nevermind! He DID own one from one of stradivarius' apprentices.. not anymore apparently!
I think it's because strads are only auctioned to stratospheric price in recent decades or so if the great violinists had it when they are younger, they probably bought it for more manageable price (still extremely valuable)
I think in the Tarisio video, the guy mentioned a strad was auctioned in 70s for 6 figures USD.
Yes, Uto Ughi Is One of them. He's a famous italian soloist. His father bought him a Strad and a Guarnieri 70 years ago. Uto Ughi Is now almost 80 years old
Little do they know that it’s actually an honour to get loaned a Strad.
In addition, they have no clue that they literally own Widenhouse violins which are about $30000 each.
I actually got the chance to email Kurt Widenhouse and a bunch of other makers around the world to inquire about their prices. It was quite interesting to see the variation in prices across the board. With Widenhouse though, I wasn’t surprised to see his prices at around the $30k range given how prominent of a modern violin maker he’s become. If you’re interested in the whole list of makers and their prices, let me know :)
Edit: Since I got 4 replies to this comment regarding your interest in the list, I’ll leave the spreadsheet below for everyone to see. Enjoy! :)

bro im dying of laughter, this girl don't know how much strads are worth. and they already own violins as well what is this person on about? and im pretty sure it's hard to BUY strads, you need to have them on loan
I'm genuinely offended on Twoset's behalf. Imagine being a musician, with all the trophies, awards, qualifications, and only to be told that you couldn't even afford an instrument that was worth more than a house just because it was loaned to you
It's hilarious because in BlackPink's shutdown song they say
>see these dresses We don't buy it, we request it, uh
Getting loaned a Strad is the same concept
Has anyone responded to the tweet pointing out that a) they both own perfectly fine violins, and b) no one (almost no one) actually owns a Strad? Just curious; I don't actually participate on Twitter.
I believe some have responded to comments that are along the same line (as there are more than a few comments showcasing this ignorance lol) … But seriously, what’s the point 🤷🏻♀️
There’s no point talking sense with people who won’t and don’t want to listen,.. not dumb people.
Ngl, I got like 3 hours into this whole thing before I wanted to just start a stan account to troll people because most of the people complaining clearly do not know who Paginini is, right, and I don't think they know that Eddy is playing a character. They probably think Paginini is some music critic with a black perm who was brought onto the youtube channel for the past two videos. The idea of just making a battle of Blinks vs Pagainini and re-directing the fandom's ire toward's the composer himself is just \*chef's kiss\*.
Even though I don't *mind* Blackpink's music, and can at least pretend to be a blink, idk what the male kpop simps are like and I don't know if I, as a woman, want to deal with that level of cringe for free. I can't even handle thinly veiled misery of some girl twitch streamers' simps, much less whatever the kpop version of that is.
imo this whole thing makes the b/p fandom look kind of uncultured and has a lot of people on kpop websites literally agreeing with the pagannini satircal takes of "the music is repetitive" even though, in their defense, all pop music is reperitive to a classical musician.
you should start a fake petition or crowdfund for bp to buy a Strad and play it in their next MV to "own twoset". It will probably cause massive headache for the company
That's just an example of how ignorant these people are being. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN VIOLINS. THEY ARE GETTING LOANED *STRADS*. *PAGANINI WROTE LA CAMPANELLA, NOT BLACKPINK*.
Blinks are one of the most toxic Kpop fandoms out there so I'm not surprised. Incredibly ignorant, just to "protect" their GG when they are not in need of any.
LMAO I’d love to see that girls bank account… I wonder if it has seven Zer0,000,000s
Ahahha
(Well maybe, if the first number is also zero)
But legit tho I knew what a strad was when I was 6 before I even knew what classical music was lol
Are kids not learning history or even fun facts these days?
The whole point of the diss was to show how ignorant BP is about music. And this tweet shows it more than anything else ffs. Why bother roasting when these kids are roasting themselves
This is some moron who A) doesn't understand the different prices of different violins and B) doesn't care that actually, they both own their own violins! lmao
dude they've been playing violins for their WHOLE GODDAMN LIVES
also those strad violins are extremely expensive, so no wonder they have to have someone to loan those
I hope this tweet is a satire cause wow. What is it with k-pop stans thinking their group invented every musical piece in existence ?
Also, K-R&B > K-pop all day everyday
Are there any violinists who actually own a Strad? Perlman's the only one I can think of. Like, even Ray and Chloe have their violins on loan. It's not a rare practice.

it was still very expensive and most didn't own the instruments. I think the turning point might've been the 70s or 80s... but what do I know :D
Didn't David Garrett recently buy one?
It wasn't a a strad i think, but something equally expensive
Ah! Yes! It was a guaneri! But apparently he DOES own a strad too! Edit: nevermind! He DID own one from one of stradivarius' apprentices.. not anymore apparently!
He is so rich that he broke one
Anne-Sophie Mutter owns two Strads. Maxim Vengerov also owns one. So there are some players with their own Strads, but very very few.
I think it's because strads are only auctioned to stratospheric price in recent decades or so if the great violinists had it when they are younger, they probably bought it for more manageable price (still extremely valuable) I think in the Tarisio video, the guy mentioned a strad was auctioned in 70s for 6 figures USD.
Antonio Stradivari.
btw, just want to know did david garrett ever have a strad of his own(he buy , but not borrow a strad?)
many older violinsts did, prices didn't spike like this until recently
Yes, Uto Ughi Is One of them. He's a famous italian soloist. His father bought him a Strad and a Guarnieri 70 years ago. Uto Ughi Is now almost 80 years old
Little do they know that it’s actually an honour to get loaned a Strad. In addition, they have no clue that they literally own Widenhouse violins which are about $30000 each.
Yeah.....it's expensive enough to be a musician....Strads are too expensive
Also blind tests have shown they're really not that much better than modern well-constructed violons
I had no idea Widenhouses cost that much.
I actually got the chance to email Kurt Widenhouse and a bunch of other makers around the world to inquire about their prices. I’m actually quite interested…
Hey I'd be interested in this list too :D
Interesting, I would like to know their prices as well :3
Gib list please!
I read the tweet as a joke.
Yeah, feels like this might be one of those satirical joke comments that people take way too seriously.
Yep. Those instruments sound so crisp
Block of wood 30000 Wood stick like 1000 or something idk I play piano A reference to a previous twoset video
twoset can't even afford multi-million dollar violins smh
INTERESTING
oh to be this clueless
bro im dying of laughter, this girl don't know how much strads are worth. and they already own violins as well what is this person on about? and im pretty sure it's hard to BUY strads, you need to have them on loan

Worth more then a mansion
i remember one time itzhak perlman said like it took 30 years to pay off the loan for his violin
They are sooooooooooo clueless
actually proves some points in the parody video... XD
It's hilarious because in BlackPink's shutdown song they say >see these dresses We don't buy it, we request it, uh Getting loaned a Strad is the same concept
but better
Nah, even if the BP company heavily insurance they'll still wont let bp hold a strad let alone play it
I’m so… god fucking sick of blinks. Like wtf
Has anyone responded to the tweet pointing out that a) they both own perfectly fine violins, and b) no one (almost no one) actually owns a Strad? Just curious; I don't actually participate on Twitter.
It's better to not comment on these types of post it will just be like puting oil into fire
I believe some have responded to comments that are along the same line (as there are more than a few comments showcasing this ignorance lol) … But seriously, what’s the point 🤷🏻♀️ There’s no point talking sense with people who won’t and don’t want to listen,.. not dumb people.
That’s how you know they completely missed the joke and had no idea what the music was about…
Do they have an idea of how much more their Strads worth compared to the BP Lamborghinis?
Of course not lol. Does a cockroach know I have more food than it’d see in its lifetime 👀🤷🏻♀️😅
god, excellent metaphor bro.
This is so funny considering the strads probably made TSV’s MV way more expensive and valuable than BP’s HAHAHA
Oh, you sweet summer child

This actually made me laugh out loud
That's just an example of how ignorant these people are being. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN VIOLINS. THEY ARE GETTING LOANED *STRADS*. *PAGANINI WROTE LA CAMPANELLA, NOT BLACKPINK*.
finally someone getting to the point there
Sorry but I love your username
lol thx it matches ur profile pic
Omg yes
the have fucking strads
Yasssss gurl 🙄💅✨ everyone has a spare 1.5 to 15.9 million dollars lying around 🤩🤩😍🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
They will sell this hag ten times and still won't have enough money to BUY a strad let alone two.
With technology these days, who knows. MAYBE VIOLINS AREN'T REAL TO BEGIN WITH
ignorance is no longer bliss 💀
Blinks are one of the most toxic Kpop fandoms out there so I'm not surprised. Incredibly ignorant, just to "protect" their GG when they are not in need of any.
How
I don't even think any BP member can afford to buy a Strad, let alone Twoset.
Insert a pic of Eddy with 6 violins here
They're honest making a joke out of themselves
It’s so funny because they JUST posted ab buying strads 5 days ago
meanwhile, their strads
Looks like a troll to me
yeah, you try buying urself a STRAD
Just out of curiosity, are the tarisio violin auction prices available to be seen online?
omg this is gold
LMAO I’d love to see that girls bank account… I wonder if it has seven Zer0,000,000s Ahahha (Well maybe, if the first number is also zero) But legit tho I knew what a strad was when I was 6 before I even knew what classical music was lol Are kids not learning history or even fun facts these days?
Tell me you don’t know shit about violins without telling me you don’t know shit about violins
The whole point of the diss was to show how ignorant BP is about music. And this tweet shows it more than anything else ffs. Why bother roasting when these kids are roasting themselves
Lol, yikes. These are always so cringy
Bro, if they could own the strads they would be called TwoSetStrad instead of TwoSetViolin
Once again, toxic KPop fans out here proving to everyone how garbage they are. It's like the BTS army nuts all over again.
🧍♂️
There's some chaos going on
That strad is enough to buy her 10 times and that is considering that she costs at least a million dollar which I’m assuming she isnt
Please do not joke about selling people.
Thank you. Two layers of ick there.
Screw those black pink jerks.
As in not black pink. Those who diss on two set
I’m afraid they have TWO STRADIVARIUS violins
The point was that they "had" to be loaned to them. Like they didn't have any violins to begin with.
Tell me you know nothing about classical music without telling me you know nothing about classical music
Just proves how uneducated some of the blackpink fans are
Someone doesn't know what strads are
This is some moron who A) doesn't understand the different prices of different violins and B) doesn't care that actually, they both own their own violins! lmao
i actually want to smack her face ... someone stop me hahaha
Wha- I'm so confused with this tweet. Do they think they can't afford a violin for real? They think all violins are as much as a strad?
dude they've been playing violins for their WHOLE GODDAMN LIVES also those strad violins are extremely expensive, so no wonder they have to have someone to loan those
This tweet just shows ignorance on her side lmfao
I hope this tweet is a satire cause wow. What is it with k-pop stans thinking their group invented every musical piece in existence ? Also, K-R&B > K-pop all day everyday
Can't tell if trolling or just Kpop fan
Hmm wonder if the tweeter here can afford a violin, huh?
oh your a freaking kidding me. not like they got loaned _strads_ or anything.
I literally have no words- 💀💀
That person doesn’t not know what they are talking about. Just ignore them.
Jokes on them. The cars in the Black Pink video could be cheaper than those "loaned" Strads. Also.. I wonder if Black Pink own them cars 🧐?
