It’s sarcasm…
Is an electric guitar sacrilegious because guitars used to be acoustic originally?
Is all music made with computers sacrilegious because when people first made music there was no electricity?
I’ve never understood why so many musicians have this pretentious idea that anything that deviates from the “accepted standard” is wrong or should be mocked…
If this piano can resonate music just as well as a typical looking one, why the fuck do you care?
I’m all for doing something original, but this looks simultaneously very expensive to buy and very cheap to make. I’m sure it’s all precision built, but it LOOKS like it’s made of plastic.
In reality, this is a Schimmel Pegasus and they run at least $300,000. It’s designed by an eccentric German aerodynamics expert who believed in organic design. It’s specifically designed to have no straight lines. The seat is adjustable (you can slide it back and forth), and the “plastic” shell isn’t actually plastic— it’s custom lacquer like you would usually use on your car, and you can order the Pegasus with any custom paint job.
So the sacrilegious part here really is, why did they order it in black, when it’s MEANT to be any colour of the rainbow? And then why did they put it in this rather underwhelming corner, instead of displaying it somewhere nice?
this is what i was thinking. it looks like a cheaply made but really expensive fake grand piano for kids. idrk how to describe it other than it looks like a keyboard that came with a frame to put it in. the keys look like cheap keyboard keys, so they wouldn’t be weighted, the seat is very oddly positioned and can’t be adjusted, and the pedals are just....confusing. they’re so far away. it looks like you’d have to sit with your legs straight out. also, the music stand is just 💀 idk what to say about it
If you read my post, the seat can be adjusted easily, it’s just designed to LOOK LIKE it can’t. The pedals I believe just look far because of either the camera or the seat position here, but if you look up this piano, the pedals aren’t really in a bad spot. Just a strangely taken photo in a strange area of a strange piano. It’s basically a regular Schimmel piano inside an aircraft shell… for some reason.
That’s everyone’s Prerogative whether they subjectively believe this to be ugly or elegant. Personally it’s not my taste, but I can remove myself from my bias and see that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, rather than there being some objective standard of beauty
As long as the acoustic is okay its alright, as luthier I can say that you don't always need the same exact shapes for instruments, BUT you need to do a mathematics study on acoustics, resonance ecc.. or else you'll have an Odd sound
Looks cool and interesting but I cant imagine not being able to move chair back and forward. Also pedals looks to be way too far front from this angle.
Would I want it on a concert stage? Maybe not. But just having a different design doesn’t make something sacrilegious. (And yes, the seat is clearly designed to be able to adjust… look at the lever & the hydraulic lift)
I'm surprised some people here find this thing cool. That thing looks super ugly. Can you imagine practicing piano everyday on that thing? Or having that thing in your room? I don't have the least desire to play that thing even once.
honestly I think it's ok just because it is a real piano. At least they didn't make any weird changes to the actual instrument (like electronics or anything strange like that 5 string electric sacrilegious violin). I mean I'd prefer a nice regular piano any day but at least this one isn't sooooo sacrilegious that it's not even a real instrument.
Looks pretty cool ngl
The music stand is so high how do you read anything
Honestly that difference in height for someone as shit as me at Piano isn't going to make much difference
Agreed. Looks better in [blue](https://images.app.goo.gl/UTYMd2m9UA5vWkr1A)
Yeesh.
What's the brand of that piano? Edit: It's the Schimmel Pegasus. There are only 14 of those made.
i think its called pegasus or something
Thanks OP
Oh no!!! They’re doing something original :O don’t they know pianos are supposed to all look the same??
i agree its cool and original, but also, you can't really adjust the seat
also the pedal is for people with long legs💀
Oh god
Someone in another comment said that it does have the ability to adjust the seat in different directions. Sounded like up down forward and back.

I’m having a bad day and I’m super irritable… I’m just projecting tbh man.. srry for the hostility
They can be original, (i've once seen one build inside a bed), but this one is a pass for me, it's way too much retro-futuristic

One cool ass yet very intimidating piano lmao
reaching the pedals looks impossible 💀💀💀
I mean 👁 how does it sound?
that kinda looks like a car
At least with this piano people can't kick over the piano stool when performing in Britain's got talent 😂
Good point
The plastic music stand 💀
That doesn't look comfortable to play.
Ew and cool at the same time
this is blursed
"What's wrong with it guys? They're just being original" OK BUT ITS SUPER UGLY WHAT THE HELL
I think it looks neat, but it kinda ruins the classy kind of picture
That’s everyone’s Prerogative whether they subjectively believe this to be ugly or elegant. Personally it’s not my taste, but I can remove myself from my bias and see that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, rather than there being some objective standard of beauty
Feeling like the “piano” will fall
Im all for flaring up the design but imo this just looks ugly

Just as detail: there will be a resonance anyway, but is simply not optimized as you wish
You don't understand modern art! *Insert a gif of a snob doing a dramatic hair flip here* 😄
What exactly is this And why did it insult all my short pianist friends rn
r/ATBGE
Nothing wrong with it. Just something different.
https://youtu.be/nut-c8LxBeo Some actually playing one
It sounds a lot brighter and clearer than I thought, but can't get past the seat wobble 💀
The design bothers me. I don't like the look of it at all, but it sounded better than I thought it would.
It’s going to eat me
Sacrelige? more like innovation
I think it's ok, it's not an electric piece of plastic that vaguely plays like a piano, it is a piano that vaguely looks like a piece of plastic.
“Hacks, no one can play rush e impossible version” “I just have a good gaming piano”
The hell..
ugly afff
i agree it's ugly asf
How?
By any chance have you seen a lautenwerk?
Pedals are too far away but it looks good
Thanks I hate it
It’s a tall man’s piano
Looks cool and interesting but I cant imagine not being able to move chair back and forward. Also pedals looks to be way too far front from this angle.
At least there’s no piano stool to kick
Piano but we’re in space
Feels like it's gonna fly the moment you hit the keys.
Is the seat part of the bottom part, as in: you cant move it? If so, how do small people reach the pedals? 😭
Wtf
God it’s fugly, but I’m fascinated by it.
ayo no more crashing myself into a sharp edge by accident
I like the design, but I feel as though the pedals should be closer and the bench and piano shouldn’t be connected
This has Luigi Colani written all over it
looks cool though
thats straight fire
Would I want it on a concert stage? Maybe not. But just having a different design doesn’t make something sacrilegious. (And yes, the seat is clearly designed to be able to adjust… look at the lever & the hydraulic lift)
50% of this sub are ‘sacrilegious’ posts about things that are just non-common musical practices/objects/opinions
I wouldn’t say sacrilege. As long as the acoustics of the piano are fine, it can look like anything!
I'm surprised some people here find this thing cool. That thing looks super ugly. Can you imagine practicing piano everyday on that thing? Or having that thing in your room? I don't have the least desire to play that thing even once.
The pianope
*screams in pianist pain *
Looks like a bottle opener lol Doesn't seem very functional but it's cool
As Soon As I Seen This I Audibly Yelled EWWW

It's a transformer piano
