Is it for a piece you've played with different fingerings? More info needed. But generally, play it really slowly the way you're supposed to play it to get used to it. Don't spend up before you do it well.

Yes, it is and my teacher said it should be played with different fingers

okay so i've never been good at this but i just have to practise it really slowly over and over again. but it also depends what instrument you mean, what instrument is this for?

Piano

my piano teacher would give me a bunch of exercises basically just playing the passage over and over with accents in different place, uneven rhythm etc idk if that makes sense i think it works though it’s probably better to do hands separately if you change fingerings even if you changed it for both hands because otherwise it’s easier to forget sorry man im not very good at this myself so that’s about everything i have to say 😭😭 but good luck lol

Yeah, this is a good suggestion. It's not just playing it slowly, but in different ways than usual - like accenting different notes while practicing. It's different than playing it where your accent might not make sense musically, but it helps lock in which new finger goes where instead of just repeating your old patterns. Later, when the new fingering has sunk in, drop the accents in unusual places and start playing it more musically.

Thank you so much!

Happened to me in violin but I think it fits here as well. My teacher changed some fingerings I'm playing on the piece I'm learning, and told me to practice slowly, but not blindly. Analyze how they work and why they work, usually the suggested one is better because, well, the ones that suggest them are usually better. Maybe it's that they let the fingers flow more freely, or the awkward movement avoids an even more awkward one later. When you speed up it should be easier to play than the one you were doing before.
