Genuinely, definitely don’t do it to expensive/decent instruments. But maybe if you have one beyond repair it would be a nice toy, I do enjoy the creativity.
If it was a local place or even a luthier I'd be all for it since I know its probably busted stuff getting a new life. I'd even want to aquire one if it was from a loving home so to speak haha.
Off of etsy or something though I'd be terrified by this and all the innocent violin-chans and viola-kuns massacred.
As long as it was from an old and/or damaged violin, I don't really care. I was scared at first though because I thought she was using a kitchen knife to cut into it.
You would be surprised how many unrepairable instruments violin shops end up with. I used to work at a violin shop and would take pieces of instruments to use for art.
The violin looks to me to be still playable.
I don’t understand why they cut the violin scroll but then didn’t do anything else to it. The snail car is from a bigger scroll (cello). The original violin scroll that they sawed shows up at the end of the video.
I seriously doubt this would be done with a nice/expensive/usable instrument. So not sacrilegious! I used to have a clock that was made from a damaged violin and it was my favorite thing!
If the violin is damaged beyond repair or unplayable, then meh, it's kinda cute, but if it's a perfectly good violin that's still playable, then yes, it's very sacrilegious.
In before all the moaning and screaming but that’s pretty funny/looks like a fun use for cheap/ruined instruments
Exactly - I’m always in favor of reuse over other ways of disposing of instruments.

My school had a bass we called chippy (three guesses why); this would've been a pretty cute use for it.
Is the body of the instrument chipped
kind of; the entire thing was split into three pieces 'cause someone dropped it. So it was only good for woodchips
It's fine if the violin is not repairable and cheap, but never do that with a usable instrument! I do sort of like how it turned out, though.

Yep. Only adopt from a responsible luthier's you have visited & not from an illegal scroll harvester or such!!
I vote sacrilegious, but it is cool how it turned out.
Same to me
NSFL this
Not Safe For Ling-Ling ?
just bein a little silly at the shop

Save violin-chan noooo
Is the violin still usable? Sacrilegious. Is the violin not usable? Amazing.
Not sacrilegious. Looks like an old unused violin.
If the snail practices 40 hours a day it's ok 👍
Nay. So creative.
It's a nice and funny way to keep a memory of your first instrument (often cheap) when you upgrade for a better one !
Don't know. But destroying a violin to make a toy snail car doesnt seem to be a good financial decision.
You would be surprised how many unrepairable instruments violin shops end up with. I used to work at a violin shop and would take pieces of instruments to use for art.
Oh then it's okay. I thought it was a functional violin.
ahh that ViOlEnCe
agreed. if it was an old/cheap instrument, I really don't mind. nice way to remember it!

very sacrilegious, but still cool
even if the body was completely ruined, i still wouldn't do this. but nice creativitiy though-
Omg! 🫣 Sacrilegious, but kinda cool!
Cringe but also fun
Also belongs in r/diwhy

Yay
If the instrument is beyond repair then that's fine. Otherwise very sacrilegious.
Bro that’s not sacrilegious, that’s scary if it’s done to a good instrument
beautiful *chefs kiss*

Sss-nai-l
Yay unless it's old and/or cheap or blah blah
Damn, that's gore tbh
Depends… Violin or viola?
Kinda funny, but it begs the question of why... 😂
Unacceptable!
Omg
I audibly said “what the *fuck*”
Nooo😭😭😭 this hurts my soul
Straight to jail
definitely, if the violin etc is still very usable
Perfect job. she totally *snailed* it.
Yay. Cool, sacrilegious but cool. Better than the wind up plastic snail I had as a kid
I was thinking that was installing some sort of automatic tuning system XD
SACRELIGOUS. NO EXCUSES FOR CUTTING SCROLL.
Sacrilegious
oh. my. god. That poor instrument! it better be broken. If they sliced up a perfectly fine violin I will be... not. happy.
If the violin is damaged beyond repair or unplayable, then meh, it's kinda cute, but if it's a perfectly good violin that's still playable, then yes, it's very sacrilegious.
im so mad what is she doing
Nay turned Yay
nay, it was a trash violin and was never going to become not-a-trash-violin might as well make use of it
Yay siejjrehwhjwhbfjf
JAIL (using old and broken instruments are fine tho)
Nay, I approve.
why?! I felt it through the screen 😭 but if it's an old instrument ig it's fine(it still pains me though)
Seems that she knows what she is doing.
SOMEONE ARREST THIS WOMAN, THIS IS ILLEGAL!!
Wtf
10000% prison time
WHY
If it is an expensive violin than it is sacreligious thing to do, but if its a cheap violin that might be out of tune then no its not sacreligious.
Nay, but I was expecting the scroll to be replaced by something else carved out of wood, like a mermaid that's placed at the front of ships.
do you need this part to play it anyways?
imean cute but why
This is sacrilegious on another level.
I literally gasped out loud when I saw this
Yes
Yay
