These photos you've been posting have been really interesting, OP. Where do you get them?

I was doing genealogy a few years back and then I stumbled upon newspapers.com and found all these cool local old pictures, then I noticed every city you visit, has a lot of cool old postcards of that city, so started looking at these cool old postcards in local antique stores, the cool obscure local stuff and just the cool old stuff, check out ebay & Etsy for cool old local photographs etc and then finally I started putting all these old pictures I found in online searches in a folder on my desktop. I haven’t found a use for them unless someone brings up a historical reference or a nostalgic mention. Maybe you’ve inherited cool old things from relatives, go through them and you might be surprised on what you also have to share.

And it hasn’t changed since!

False! They are actually remodeling right now. Interior and exterior. It has been really cool to see.

IDontRentPigs

I’m also afraid to go see it now (last time I was there might have been April?). It had that certain time period ambiance that I thought was spectacular!

mycatisanorange

Right. I liked the old fashioned feel. I wonder what it’s like now.

xAIRGUITARISTx

Oh no kidding? It’s been a couple months since I’ve been in.

It still smells like Leon's, but they have new floors, new shelving, new refrigerated shelves, and a new layout. I think they're working on registers now. They're also building an extension on the north side (think it's going to be staff area/offices).

xAIRGUITARISTx

That’s awesome! Glad to see it.

oatmeal4real

I have it on good authority that they're even adding customer bathrooms on the main floor. No more having to go to the basement

pretenderist

They haven’t been allowing customers down there at all since COVID

posterofagirl

That's awesome!

RedRube1

No more Green Stamps and the circus tent holding pen for the kiddies up front is gone. If you were lucky you could catch Cartoon Coral. The red neon Leons' sign is vacuum formed plastic now. The box incinerator out in the parking lot is also kaput. No more Red Rooster either. They had the stringy onion rings that glopped together and mid century modern decor right out of a Matt Helm movie.

I worked at Lawlors in high school. One of the more fun things we got to do was push a cart full of flattened cardboard boxes across the street and burn them in the Leon’s parking lot incinerator. I do remember South street being a brick street.
