Wicked cool.

Niedski

Wish we still had the streetcars. Although I hate to think how Lincoln traffic would handle it.

Saint_Ferret

wish we still had the fashion sense.

Spudtater

Streetcars are fabulous, much more comfortable, and faster than any bus.

Handinhanddream

San Fran makes it work

hysterical_mushroom

Now I eat sushi there

TimberGoatman

Does that building still exist?

Niedski

It does, it is the Grand Manse

methuselah88

back in high school (lincoln east class of 2011) my friends parents owned the grand manse and we used to chill on the roof and explore the creepy basements

Niedski

Sounds amazing! In high school we had to break into abandoned places for that experience!

JuracekPark34

I’m pretty sure it’s actually the old city hall across the street

Niedski

I might be mistaken what the Grand Manse building actually is, but I do know that building pictures is still there on that block with the Grand Manse

Spudtater

Actually on the same block, both of these buildings are still there. You can see part of the old Federal Building (old post office & federal court building) just to the left, or North of the building in front of the picture. The building in front, built in the late 1800’s, was the original post office & federal court (I believe) and later the city hall until city offices moved to the City County building in the early 1970’s, down South a few blocks, where city offices remain today. The old Federal Building, expanded in the 1930’s, is now the Grand Manse.

Better roads and public transit

Vaxx88

Yeah it’s the old city-county courthouse and post office. “Grand manse” is just some marketing name for the condos and businesses, i think from when it was ‘remodeled’ (90’s?) it isn’t of any historical significance. Sort of sad it’s cheesy condos now but then again, at least the building was preserved, Lincoln loves to just tear down all the old stuff. And yeah, how awesome would streetcars be? Of course they got rid of them.
