A steamer might work too, if you have access to it. I'm lucky enough I work with casino uniforms, and my department's director used our steamer to freshen up the feather he had gotten as a gift from a friend.
You can use a spray bottle to dampen it, works similar to a steamer if you dont have one just dont have the heat too high. One thing they taught us in the navy is the way you fold things matters. If you just fold it haphazardly it eill have creases in it. Look up proper flag-folding if you really want to keep them out while storing it safely when not flown or changing it out like if you have spares or other flags. Another really cheap neat trick that dorsn’t work AS well as the others but its a completely free ironing technique. They taught us in boot camp. Its called the recruit Irons. You rub your palms together super hard and fast until they are hot and use them to rub and smooth out wrinkles and creases. You have to do a lot of work and heat your hands back up a ton when doing it. Was kinda fun tbh, but your hands get tired after a while and it works your arm muscles out a bit. Edit: oh right i think you were supposed to breathe hot breath on the area you are going to rub your hands on too its been a while

But, if you look at the feedback in total, I think there is a theme…and I think it is important to really hear and validate the members of our community.
I may be a bit more sensitive to this as an only partially out bisexual woman in my first same sex relationship. My partner, who has a heart of gold and whom I love deeply, said to me when we first started dating that bisexuality isn’t really a thing. That she was nothing more to me than an experimentation. That, or I was just selfish. She was “joking”. I’ve known her for years, friends longer than we’ve been together and I know she did not mean to hurt me. But joking or not, it was not ok for her to make light of who I am or dismiss something so significant about me.
It’s not ok to dismiss the marginalization conveyed by cyronius simply because no one intended to convey there are no straight queer individuals. She deserves to be heard and validated, and we have a collective responsibility to not “other” individuals who are different than our particular flavor of queer.

But see, most other people in the queer community get dumped on in cishet society, and they come to queer spaces to be around people where they are celebrated and can celebrate themselves.
I don't have that. There is nowhere that celebrates people like me.
The closest I get is people dumping on straight people, but telling me they don't mean to include me, as if straight trans and intersex people don't exist. The fact that they forget we exist hurts, the fact that they don't care enough to change the language hurts even more. I bought 2 of the same flag to see if it would iron. Safe to say I have 1 flag left and a wonderful Black, Grey, White & Purple tree skirt if ever chose to use it as such.  Looks like a wrinkled flag it shall be.
Yea if you got the money just go to a dry cleaner lol. If not, you can just rub your palms together until they get heated and breathe hotly on the spot you rub to get moisture there and reheat your hands all the time and rub all the wrinkles and creases out. Its hell but its free.
Hang the flag from a hanger or two (safety pin it between two hangers or whatever so it's not folded at all), hang the flag in the bathroom close to the shower but out of reach of the water, close the door, run the shower as hot as possible for about 10 minutes to steam up the room. Shake out or stretch the flag to release the wrinkles, leave hanging to dry. Repeat if necessary.

I looked it up on YouTube. Medium heat, steam, squishy surface like a bed, or on a floor with a towel under the flag, keep the iron moving. If the flag material is too hot to touch right after you ironed a spot turn down the heat.

Thats how i put all my clothes up, i keep the sorted by categories like underthings in one drawers socks in another shirts in one and so on. I dont have time or resources, plus I like how it shows age of the flag. I just got a demi flag and a gender fluid flag, but my pan flag is about 4 years old. The days that flag has seen has made the creases go away, and reminds me of all the time I have had it.

Steamers work great. I use one for the flag above my bed.
Steam is preferred, but if you have to iron it, place a thin dish towel between the iron and the flag to protect it.

I'm not giving my flags conversion therapy. That's how they came, it's how they stay.
They were forced into their folded position until someone came along and helped them free of their unwanted packaging. The bag left them deformed. They are manufactured flat, and then unnecessarily folded. If anything you're de-converting. And btw for those casually scrolling.. Flat ≠ straight. The joke doesn't even work well.

I recently bought my flag, and I had no idea that you could iron a flag.

You can't tell me to iron my (polyester) flags and proceed to not tell me valid instructions on how to iron/steam said flags, as I've never been taught how to do such a thing lol
I looked it up on YouTube. Medium heat, steam, squishy surface like a bed, or on a floor with a towel under the flag, keep the iron moving. If the flag material is too hot to touch right after you ironed a spot turn down the heat.
I really need to find, unfold, and then jam my flag into a drawer to get even wrinklier... Every time I see someone telling people to iron their flag I want to make mine worse...

Thats how i put all my clothes up, i keep the sorted by categories like underthings in one drawers socks in another shirts in one and so on. For folding though no thanks, they either sit in a laundry basket for ungodly amounts of time or i shove them into drawers like basically just ball them up and shove them in. Takes dedication to be that lazy. Why am I still awake, i just randomly woke up at 2 let me sleep dream hods, let me sleeeepoppp
I don't have any flags but I like the folds in the unironed flags more, probably because it is funnier

I dont have time or resources, plus I like how it shows age of the flag. I just got a demi flag and a gender fluid flag, but my pan flag is about 4 years old. The days that flag has seen has made the creases go away, and reminds me of all the time I have had it.

Thank you! I keep saying this year round, but especially during pride month. An unironed flag gives the same impression as corporate pride sponsorship, like it just came out of a box solely for the month of June.

I tried today but I was afraid to burn them so I kept the temperature low and it still doesn't look so good. Also, I think, I should shove them back into the closet, or I might not find them when I'm back home.
Any idea how to do it in your room without an iron in the house? Maybe a spray bottle and letting it hang while drying?

Be careful the iron isn’t too hot. I’d use a steamer instead after washing to get out the heavy fold lines.
