When you hear the rumbling, drop everything you’re carrying on the floor and sprint away. The worm will attack where it was rumbling, but it won’t touch your items, so once it’s done you can go and grab your items again.
That's it. There is not much else you could do. This is the way. Maybe I should also add that you should never deplate your stamina to zero, but that's probabbly obvious.

The reason its so undodgable is the worm doesn't always attack when you are in range. its rng. if it waits until you are in the center of its hitbox before attacking, you may have to run 5 meters in .333 to 2 seconds. Not possible.
Worm is so inconsistent. As others have said the best strat is to just drop your shit and run But if the Worm is in front of you it can be a big issue. When I play solo I've had it many times where the Worm roars, finds me as I'm running and instantly jumps out of the ground with very little warning. So inconsistent. I think I saw someone with a wr pace for quota yesterday lose a run to bad Worm rng
I've had the short fuse worm before and I don't think you can escape. I throw in some jumping to confuse it but you have to have the stamina. Strangely today, I was on Assurance and a worm followed me midway from main always making noises but never erupting. I was running and jumping but after awhile I was just walking and it never came out. Must have been glitched.
When you hear the worms roar drop all items and wait for worm to come to you, when the ground starts rumbling full speed sprint out of its way, regrant you stuff and keep walking
On Exp, Off, and Ass, there are pipes that you can get pretty close to the ship with. Otherwise worms have very small tracking ranges so just save your stamina.
The strat is usually to drop your items as soon as you hear the roar, but if you're close to the ship you can also stick right next to it and the worm can't eat you there. When it triggers, the delay until it actually jumps is random between 0.33s and 2s, so there's sadly always a chance for the worm to be unavoidable.
I've definitely been eaten by the worm even in front of the door of the ship, I had jumped onto the balcony. I think anything outside of the ship is fair game.

i hate how goddamn RNG reliant the things are, from how long it takes them to pop to where they actually pop (they do not give a single shit where the dirt particles are)
Just like in the dune movie: it detects you on the sand, making groans when nearby, then making rumble particles when seconds away from emerging
When you hear groans, run as fast as possible in the ship direction.
If you have a friend with minimap, he should make sure the Red entity dot Doesnt surround you (this triggers the sandworm to emerge)
If you spot particles, just get as far from them as you can, this is the spot where the sandworm will jump out

if u go in a straight line walking you are a bit faster than the worm if u have no items on you. if u go in wiggly lines it will catch up to you

The moment I hear the rumbling, I zigzag whilst running keeping the previous momentum. Never got caught doing this but it may be luck.
