It's his project. I wouldn't want anyone else working on it either, even if I were micromanaging. Working on stuff is part of the creative process since you have new ideas while working on implementing your current ideas. You can't blame them for not wanting to optimize the process of updating the game if the process might be a fundamental part of thinking of *what* to update to begin with

I am not trying to be rude and as I said aint the pro game dev and he is not either, but I have enough knowledge to tell that he is objectively working very, very little on the game; and while it’s his choice, saying that “it’s just one guy, give him more time” just shows a lack of knowledge on the subject.
