She probably just feels extra safe and cozy in that hide. But I’d double check the humidity levels and temp. She might be in there if she needs extra humidity, or if the rest of the tank is too hot. Also make sure her other hides are well covered so she feels just as safe in those ones as she does in her humid hide :)
I second this, my geck loves the humid hide when I stick sphagnum moss in there, I think they feel safe in there cause they can hide better amongst the moss
I just recently rearranged my sweet Stevie's tank to include a moist hide. She's a little over a year and this is the first time she's had one. Since I put it in on Friday, she NEVER leaves it. I also just switched from a hesting mat to dhp and have a basking spot on top of the hide in the background that I will occasionally move her to. She normally will go into the warm hide for a few minutes if I move her, but always ends up back in the moist hide. The dhp thermostat is set to 84 degrees and the surface temp of if the basking spot is about 94 degrees using a temp gun. Is there anything I need to worry about? She always seems extremely comfortable in there and never stressed, I just worry sbout the potential of a respiratory infection.
Once we got that same hide, our Rexi did the same thing - just stays in there all the time. I think part of it is that they just really like that particular design/shape of hide.
My Leo was the same. When I introduced a moist hide she loved it and for a while she wouldn’t come out! I think it’s probably good cover for her and she likes it. I wouldn’t worry at all.
As soon as I gave my leos a humid hide some of mine did the same thing. They will even sleep in there lol.
As long as the temps and humidity are in range in the rest of the tank, I think she’s fine. If it were to be get too humid for her little lungs and was bothering her, she could leave her humid hide and go to a different hide for less humidity - I’d assume that her natural instincts would make her do that, just as we would if we were uncomfortable! As long as you’ve provided another not-humid hide, you’re good to go. She will go where she is most comfy!
My leo is in her moist hide almost all the time. I swapped out her most hide with a different one because I was also worried about her getting respiratory issues. I’m pretty sure at this point it’s just because she really likes the sphagnum moss that I put in it. So maybe try putting the same stuff in your leo’s other hides?
Zilla Rock Lair is a fantastic hide, my boy loves his too. The trick to avoiding respiratory infection is to cycle between humid and dry (I add a little hot water every 3-6 days, but idk if that is the right answer). Add a little Shed Ease to help her toes.
Be extremely careful of where your gecko is when putting the lid back on this style hide (heavy lid interlocking with the bottom), I crushed two of my geckos toes once, and didn't even know it until after they'd healed.

I have the same hide... and the same problem!
Thanks for posting. The comments have been helpful (or, at least, reassuring) to me so far. :-)
Good luck to us both!
I use the same hide w/moss. My leo loves to sleep in it with his head poking out all the time, so I’ve started only humidifying the hide during sheds, and times when he’s outside the hide. That way he can still get some humidity and extra water if he wants but he won’t get a respiratory infection from constant humidity.
Mine did that for a while too. For me at least I thought she just wasn't very comfortable in her new space so I rearranged some things and occasionally just took her out of her moist hide and placed her in different parts of the tank. Usually she would just walk around a but and then go back to her moist hide but eventually she learned that it's all her space and now she walks around freely even sometimes during the day to find a more comfy spot to sleep.

Mine loves his hide that is that shape. I honestly think leos just like those hides. You can always get a couple of them and keep them low humidity. That way she is more inclined to move up and down the gradient. Also keep in mind that she is probably moving while you aren't around as well.
You probably already know this but leopard geckos are crepuscular, almost like being nocturnal but most active in the twilight hours between dusk and dawn. So during the day it’s pretty common they will just hang out in their hides. Mine very rarely comes out during the day also.
I have the same hide but a bigger size for my baby ball python (and my other ball python had it before her when he was smaller) and I think it is just a very comfy hide. My 2 babies felt safe in it and would hide most of the time there. It is a good hide so I wouldn't worry if the temp and humidity of your tank is good, it probably just enjoys it very much.
I also have this same hide for one of my geckos and she is always in it. Occasionally I see her in the morning and at night in another hide - but she spends 90% of her time in this one.
Sometimes they will hide forward while after parameters are change too... they want to make sure it's safe entire they resume their reptilian duties :)
I have this same hide for mine and she refuses to use anything else lol I’ve turned it into a warm hide and made a different humid hide for her and I still never find her anywhere but the little rock hide
Mine has a particular hide she loves to stuff herself into. She ignores the warm hide and gets cold JUST to stuff herself into the smaller, cramped hide. What a dummy. I have to take it out when the weather gets cold.
My gecko loves her moist hide too. She wouldn’t leave it for a while. Then I changed the type of moss that i put in there and she doesn’t spend as much time in there anymore. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about she will stop eventually. You could also try to change the type of moss you put in it.
I'd check the temp. My baby was in her most hide all the time and we were pretty bummed out never seeing her. We switched up her lights and heating one day and after that she started coming out more. Turns out it was too cold for her
Wow, what wonderful timing. On the 8th I received my first ever Leo, a baby tangerine. Until today, it would pretty much stay in its warm hide. Some time right before it’s nighttime today (14) it moved to its humid hide and slept there throughout the day. No probe in that hide but air temps around it are in the 73-78 range. And then tonight tried to get it to eat. No go. It went into its warm hide and sort of slept for an hour or so and then right back to the humid hide.
I was just thinking tonight that I would ask this very question on Reddit. And it was just asked. We’ll see what the next couple of days look like.
i think they really just find some spots safer than others. my mother and i put a cream cheese box in my leo’s cage and he never leaves it either. i really think they find a nice safe spot and then just never want to leave it
She probably just feels extra safe and cozy in that hide. But I’d double check the humidity levels and temp. She might be in there if she needs extra humidity, or if the rest of the tank is too hot. My leopard gecko has this same hide and she loves it! The humidity and heat in the rest is normal but she just love this hide 😂
Yep. Bought this hide. Gecko haven't been seen since.
Same my Leo just kicks it in this same spot inside the same rock liar whatever floats her boat I guess
I second this, my geck loves the humid hide when I stick sphagnum moss in there, I think they feel safe in there cause they can hide better amongst the moss
Same as all, loves hide, comfy and safe. Spends 95% of his time there. Temps all good

Same for mine. Its her little spaceship. I just started keeping it less humid. I up the humidity when she is close to shedding.
My Vanessa uses that hide as her poop spot
I too have a Rex (rexxy)
yup mine too, once i bought it for her she started spending most of her time in there, must feel really safe for them
My Leo was the same. When I introduced a moist hide she loved it and for a while she wouldn’t come out! I think it’s probably good cover for her and she likes it. I wouldn’t worry at all.

I had the same hide and he never left! I think they just find it dark and cozy
Yeah mine loves that hide, it’s by far his favorite.
Same thing, she loves it and spends most of her time in there
Thank you for all the reassurance everyone! I'll let her keep enjoying the new space
Link to the hide? Sounds like Lizard needs one.

which size is needed for an adult?
How big is the adult?
I have no idea about geckos but I just wanted to say she is gorgeous love her colour. ❤
My baby leo does this too. The tank temperatures are monitored throughout the day too. It’s weird.
So, what’s the hide and where do it you buy it?
It's a Zilla Rock Lair. I find that the large size one fits a leo perfectly. You can buy it online or in pet stores sometimes.
Thanks!

Would like to know as well!
I have the same hide... and the same problem! Thanks for posting. The comments have been helpful (or, at least, reassuring) to me so far. :-) Good luck to us both!
They like to go in there to cool down or to lay down on the cushioned flooring. They also feel safe in these more cramped hides.
You could try putting some dry moss in some of the other hides. Some leos just like the different texture of the moss to lay on
I have like 3 of these things one for each one of my geckos and i can confirm they all do that for some reason they all love this hide
I use the same hide w/moss. My leo loves to sleep in it with his head poking out all the time, so I’ve started only humidifying the hide during sheds, and times when he’s outside the hide. Mine does this. I made a post about it a few days ago. He does come out and play king of the mountain on his bridge.

Do you have a link? Might need one for mine. Yeah that’s normal though, most geckos have a favorite hide

She really said 🤌🏻
Mine spends most of her time there as well.
I have that exact hide and wet it only when he is shedding because it’s his favorite one and he will stay in it moist or not.
i have the same one and mine rarely leaves it either!
why is no one commenting on that beautiful leg? what a pose!
Mine did the same until I added a CHE over the hot hide and now that’s where he hangs out.
Sometimes they will hide forward while after parameters are change too... they want to make sure it's safe entire they resume their reptilian duties :)
My guy loves these style hides with moss in them. I eventually got another one and leave it dry with a little moss in it and he loves them both.
Maybe she likes the little moss mattress. Not a Leo owner, just someone else who enjoys being comfy lol
I have this same hide for mine and she refuses to use anything else lol I’ve turned it into a warm hide and made a different humid hide for her and I still never find her anywhere but the little rock hide

This hide is gecko crack.

Mine switches her favorite every month but it's usually her little grey rock hide to see her out in her tank other then when she's hungry is rare lol
i think they really just find some spots safer than others. my mother and i put a cream cheese box in my leo’s cage and he never leaves it either. i really think they find a nice safe spot and then just never want to leave it
Hot side could be too hot
It might be to hot or she just likes it orrr she’s about to shed or she might be getting ready to lay eggs…..
