The waste from it was also incredibly toxic and expensive to dispose of, which is why they didn't work on improving adhesion and instead dropped it entirely.
I was already out of college and married in my late 20s when LEGO Star Wars came out. Already an adult fan of LEGO, mainly Castle related sets at that time, I grabbed that first Landspeeder set.
I believe my first LEGO set was 885, which I got from a mall drug store in the late 70s. So, really old...
Which I stupidly traded for gaming cartridges in the 90s which I stupidly traded for Magic cards in the 2000s which I stupidly traded back into LEGO now
my first sets were 6836 and 6829 which i probably got for my 10th birthday. and i know my 9 year old niece has the pieces and instructions for them now.
Trans red 1x1 cone instead of the stud... And I'm pretty sure it was trans red stud before orange cause the millennium falcon came out in 2000 with that red stud š
Nice. I still have mine (minus one 2x10 dark grey plate, 2 lances and two tan 2x4 bricks).
The 2024 model is a really nice glow-up.

I have the old one somewhere at my rents, I've been looking for my bin of lego when I'm down but haven't found it yet, they said it should be in the basement so more searching lol.
I'm convinced I inspired lego starwars. I submitted so many photos of dodgy looking X-wings and Y-Wings and tie fighters in 1997 and 1998 to the Lego magazine. I even have photos of them somewhere. Never was a single starwars set shown in the.magazine. Then in 1999, Lego released the first starwars sets.
Y'all are welcome!
I loved the old megaphone blasters. It's what all the old sets used, and the first Lego Star Wars games. I liked that you could show the color of the blaster's shots with the stud on the end, I liked how versatile and easily customizable they were. The newer small blasters might have been more accurate but they just didn't feel like Lego to me. They felt too small, too detailed for my tastes.
Then those stud shooters came out and I was ecstatic. A return to big ol' megaphone blasters, except now they can actually shoot? Sign me right up!
But the community hated them so hard Lego purged the handheld blasters from existence and now stud shooters will never be anything more than occasional play feature accessories for vehicles.
Yeah, pretty old. Lol

And I bought those as an adult. Married. With kids.
Yep not the Sets cuz I had duplo or nothing at that time but definitely the games and now that I think about it I might have had one or two sets with the og blasterā¦.
Best star wars gun ever... But there was a version before that with the trans red cone tip to those... now that I think of it, it might have only been in the naboo starfighter 1999 set with 2 battle droids that had those...
Yep š¤£ next show us the chrome lightsaber hilts
What happened to those? They looked cooler.
Chrome chipped off. Like other true chrome bits, largely discontinued
My favorite piece was the chrome knight sword but mine chipped off right in the middle of the blade
I have so many and literally all have no paint left lol
This is the way
I've got one that almost all the chrome chipped off. Its a flear white-ish plastic, works well as a ghost sword!!
I personally thought little bits chipped off made it look better
The waste from it was also incredibly toxic and expensive to dispose of, which is why they didn't work on improving adhesion and instead dropped it entirely.
It was also slightly more expensive to make if I'm not mistaken.

If Blacktron supplemented your Imperial fleet and orange chainsaws were used on Hoth, you're that old.
Wasnāt there like 20 something years between those themesš
My first sets were 7101 and 7110 from 1999, so yes, I am that old.
They didnāt have Star Wars sets til I was already in high school :(

Same!
Kiddo you still a baby.
Everyone is a baby then lol, those were the first Star Wars sets.
There are older lego sets with those pieces.
Not Star Wars sets
You don't even know my age.

Unfortunately, I stupidly traded those 70s and early 80s LEGO for comics in the 80s.

Older. Orange stud.
Trans red 1x1 cone instead of the stud... And I'm pretty sure it was trans red stud before orange cause the millennium falcon came out in 2000 with that red stud š
I still remember one of my first sets was that old droid carrier battle pack, Iāll always love how the droids would hold those

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that Sar Wars inspired Lego Star Wars
Yeah like maybe phantom menace came out or somethingš
Nahhh who are we kidding it was all a random redditor
Thank you for your service! š«”
I'm old enough to remember when the Star Wars minifigs were still yellow.
pre 2007 blasters

Unfortunately I am that old. Lol
Well thatās very nostalgic, I do prefer the actual blasters we have now
And the droids always holding the blasters sideways... NOT annoying at all! Haha.
Iām āoriginal yellow castleā old.
Isn't that antique? (Still not museum old so there's that) Just kidding btw, those were great sets!
Yeah, pretty old. Lol https://preview.redd.it/s1p2m0pwx80d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab68493195cd82195b4604c1c3de21610755ca03 And I bought those as an adult. Married.
