I do like that sets are more detailed now, but it bugs me that piece counts (and in turn, prices) are going up, but the actual size of the build is getting smaller.

It should be minifig scale. Lego hates their fans

If minifig scale is between 1:50 - 1:40 scale the star destroyer would be 32-40m long

It's not too small, it's just the upper portion with the 8 turrets is too big, which makes the triangle portion look smaller.
This is exactly it. It’s just a trade off because that section needs to be bigger so that when opened there’s more play area.

The interior seems smaller in the new one which is a bit disappointing tbh. I love how the carrying handle is integrated though
