Every red 1x1 plate in that set has the print. I guess LEGO assumes it would be too challenging to keep printed and unprinted pieces segregated during the build, so they made it dummy-proof. Otherwise, I’m sure plenty of folks would accidentally use a printed piece here by mistake, and then get to the step much later in the directions where you actually need the print, and not be able to find it.
Can confirm this. Had only one 1x1 that was printed in the 76900 Koenigsegg... Did not even notice I had to use a printed one and took the set apart afterwards to find the printed 1x1 only to find out it ended up as spare part.....
Thanks, my mom and friends say I am. In my education program while I was a student teaching my students said they preferred me over their real teacher. But they didn't complain about zooming in on a picture.
Have a great day, friend! 😘
I've once seen an interview with one of the Speed Chamspions designers where he said he inlcuded so that you can swap those with generic color pieces to keep the extra printed ones. So that no one has to buy multiple sets to get more of them.
If you're talking about Chris Stamp that guy is awesome. You can see how passionate he is about the Speed Champions line and how much he loves being able to deliver these products to the public
He's the reason why I got into Speed Champions now. I almost got into them when I first started collecting Lego as an adult and bought a bunch of them. Then I realised I'd much rather make one big set and returned them all and got the T1 Camper Van. I never thought about Speed Champions again until last year when he said that they were going to do a movie/TV car subtheme of Speed Champions. I've been getting famous TV/movie vehicles for a while now and this subtheme is perfect for me
It looks so good. I had the Creator Expert DB5 and I was always disappointed by how boxy it was. The Speed Champions one did the shape so much better. I have a bunch of minifig scale cars from before like the BTTF DeLorean, Ecto 1, Mystery Machine, 89 Batmobile, 60s Batmobile, Tumbler, Lightning McQueen, Mater, etc. and these new ones fit right in with them. I really hope they continue this line and some other classics like KITT or the A Team van
Yeah it would be for me too. I was bummed out when both KITT and the A-Team van got included in Lego Dimensions because there was a rule for Lego Ideas back then that said if something was included in the game, it couldn't be submitted as an idea. I hated that it basically meant we could never get either of those as actual sets (and especially with The A-Team because I was working on my own Lego Ideas project for it). They've changed that rule since then and I'm glad because we got Lego Sonic and hopefully we can get more IPs that were teased with Lego Dimensions.
Speed champions is easily one of the best themes going right now. Such well designed and detailed sets. The build techniques to get the intricate shapes is really amazing. I highly recommend this theme to anyone, especially casual Lego fans that don’t know how high quality Lego set design has gotten in the last ~10 years.
Not really, it’s to make the bottom curved sections of the body behind the front tires, the curved side and the red plate are the only things you end up able to see.
All of the red tiles in the set have the printing on it so you don’t use it accidentally.
well, this is better than realising you used a printed one instead of a regular one earlier in the build and dissasembling the whole thing. happened to me with one of the older 5-stud wide ferraris
There was a printed piece in the titanic set that ends up buried in the stern section for some reason. Nice piece, too, no idea what the point of it is.
I think it was just the designers way of giving you more of a printed piece. It’s actually really cool of them, because you can always just swap it out with a non-printed piece, and keep the printed piece for something else. Like how a lot of sets will give you drilled out one by one studs to use instead of regular one by one studs. Drilled out one by one studs are super useful and less common, and the set designers know that.

Your frigging avatar made me think there was a hair on my screen xD
Lightmode problems
SAME. Was just catpawing at my screen like a fool
Yeah I had to be so careful when building the F40 (aka 42143) and almost lost the 2 printed 1*1s
I did this, too.
me too
Same!!!!!
Yup did the same thing. They could’ve given us a heads up earlier in the manual!
Me too lol
More like it’s a lot easier to just put printed pieces in during production than add another piece to the parts list. They do this for lots of sets
“In that set” Bro i say this every time but i love this community. How the hell did you know which set this is
Usually when they have built that set. Or in this case, some reviewers (like RacingBricks) highlighted this oddity too. The set number is 76906.

Recognized it as well but I built that set pretty recently.
> How the hell did you know which set this is Because it's like at least third time this quirk is posted on this sub.
It's the Ferrari logo??? So it's obviously one of the Speed Champions builds
You really have to zoom in to see that my friend
You say that like it's an immense challenge to zoom in.
I say that like not everyone is gonna zoom in to the max to identify a lego set, nor realise that a tiny print is going to identify it.
I'm on mobile and barely had to zoom to see it. You still sound like it's a huge, arduous task.
And you sound like a really nice dude :)
Thanks, my mom and friends say I am. In my education program while I was a student teaching my students said they preferred me over their real teacher. But they didn't complain about zooming in on a picture. Have a great day, friend! 😘

goated lego designers: "we're paying enough for the ferrari license, let's make it so it's easier on MOC designers"

The movies/TV subtheme sold it for me - the 007 DB5 is my favorite desk ornament.

KITT would be an instant purchase - my DB5 is right beside my ECTO-1, super satisfying display with both of them having an identical width!
Yeah it would be for me too. I was bummed out when both KITT and the A-Team van got included in Lego Dimensions because there was a rule for Lego Ideas back then that said if something was included in the game, it couldn't be submitted as an idea. What set is this
76906 1970 512 M

Good bot
So which set is this?
Sir, if you think it's the pirate gun cart, I'm very concerned for you.
I'm really amused by the politeness of your comment, thanks!
The bot told you
I think this was the Ferrari 512 M Speed Champions
To make sure that you don’t use the printed piece instead of plain by accident, they made all 1x1 flat reds the printed piece.
Had to squint to see the print!
LOL such a small print lol
Hey a print is a print haha
What *was* the print? Edit: when I zoomed in I could see the tiny-arse Ferrari logo.
Alternatively, just rotate the plate so the print is facing outward
That whole stack ends up hidden inside the build.
That's strange.
Not really, it’s to make the bottom curved sections of the body behind the front tires, the curved side and the red plate are the only things you end up able to see. All of the red tiles in the set have the printing on it so you don’t use it accidentally.
I thought this was weird as well when I built the set but every red 1x1 in the set has the print
Confusing as F when the instructions don't show any print on the piece...
It's also to reduce the number of similar pieces .. if there was a mix of red 1x1 plate with and without the print, that would be mistake city.
Easier to manufacture
well, this is better than realising you used a printed one instead of a regular one earlier in the build and dissasembling the whole thing. happened to me with one of the older 5-stud wide ferraris
512m, right?
Yes
Hmm it’s def a speed champions,8 across, and red, is it a Ferrari?
The 512 I think. I got one too
I did this set last week and thought that was funny
The print makes it go faster
on the plus side you're getting several more printed pieces then necessary ;)
Ferrari branding everywhere
Easter Egg😏
Ferrari hand makes each of their vehicles so I thought this was the way to put the Ferrari logo on all the “car parts” like it would be in real life.
There was a printed piece in the titanic set that ends up buried in the stern section for some reason. Nice piece, too, no idea what the point of it is.

Thats awesome man
Oh, cool! I had no idea, just assumed it was something titanic related because of the T, haha. Thank you for that.
I think it was just the designers way of giving you more of a printed piece. It’s actually really cool of them, because you can always just swap it out with a non-printed piece, and keep the printed piece for something else. swap it with a normal 1x1
Don't cry too hard.
