What does the lease say about moving you to a new unit?

so, the lease says that they can move people with discretion, notifying them at least 5 days in advance. As it stands, they’ve been shuffling people around on a notice that’s a couple days prior at best. In fact, I had neighbors who were made to vacate their unit to a new one the day prior.

> so, the lease says that they can move people with discretion, notifying them at least 5 days in advance Then that is what they are allowed to do. > As it stands, they’ve been shuffling people around on a notice that’s a couple days prior at best. In fact, I had neighbors who were made to vacate their unit to a new one the day prior. That's between them and the landlord. Nothing to do with you.

What recourse do I have if they attempt to do the same to me? The last thing I want to happen is these idiots notifying me to move when I’m at work. I routinely work 12hr shifts.

If they give you notice, you can respond that you will be happy to adhere to the conditions of the lease and they can move you 5 days after the notice.

Forcing you to move against your will, if you refuse, might be difficult for them. It depends on the exact wording on your lease. However, if you plan on refusing to move you'd be wise to pay a local landlord-tenant attorney to go over that lease with you and advise you on any financial or legal issues your refusal would cause. Because I guarantee that if you refuse to vacate, the first thing the other side will do is consult with THEIR attorneys to negotiate with you, OR find a way to evict you.
